Chapter Four : The Loss Of Love

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Leomon, I know you can’t here me, but if I could do anything for you, I’d give you back your life. Then Jeri would still have you. And she wouldn’t be so, different.”
He opened his eyes.
And he couldn’t breathe.
It was Leomon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

\"Oh gods, it’s really you, isn’t it?” he breathed out, barely able to speak. He sunk to his knees; they had seemed to give up hope on standing for now. He blinked, rubbed his eyes, and opened them again. Yeah, he was still there. Except, there was something fishy about him. It was Leomon alright. The mane, the tail, the serious look in his eyes. It was all there. But....he was grey, and black, his eyes black-blue in color. He wasn’t the golden haired wonder that Beelzemon was accustomed to. Perhaps....this was his ghost?

“Get off your knees and fight me. I need to gain strength to return to her.” the un-normal Leomon said. Even his voice was different—darker, deeper, almost sinister.

“I’m sorry what I did to you, but I know this won’t make things right. This isn’t like you at all Leomon.” The gray Leomon stared at him, as if thrown off. He blinked, and straightened himself out of his fighting stance. He laughed. He actually laughed.

‘Oh no, I’ve made him mad’ thought Beelzemon.

The grey beast stopped his deep chuckle, and once again threw himself into a fighting stance.

“I am not Leomon. That digi-fool was always talking about wisdom and peace—feh, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s dead! Now, fight me so I may return to her!!”

Beelzemon looked up at him, stunned by his words. Leomon was indeed dead, and this was not his ghost. This was someone else.

“Who are you?” he said, barely above a whisper.

“Hmmph, I am Panjyamon, and this will be the last thing you hear, for you shall now die!”

Panjyamon launched himself at the kneeling Beelzemon, preparing a deadly strike. Beelzemon jumped out of the way, and looked back at where he’d been. Just a crater now. He turned himself around pulling out twin pistols.

“I don’t want to fight you,” he said as he landed, “no matter who you are. This isn’t right.”

“Ha ha ha, you must’ve known that fool, the nonsense you speak reeks of his tongue.”

Beelzemon fired a warning shot, just grazing Panjyamon’s pants. He was getting really pissed off the way that moron kept talking trash about Leomon.

“Oh ho ho, look who’s getting angry! Did I say something wrong?” Panjyamon jumped into the air, preparing his next strike.

“Lightning Blast!” Beelzemon was enveloped in a white light, couldn’t hear, couldn’t see, and then, pain.

“Arrghh!” He fell to the ground, threw his head to the sky, and let out the battle cry. Better safe then sorry. He would stall for time, and hopefully the numbers he and his friends would make would scare off the maniac.

“Heh heh, I’ve got you right where I want you. I’ll absorb you’re data and return to her!”

Beelzemon saw red. And through it, he saw Jeri.

“You’re not Leomon.”

‘I know Jeri, I know.’

He looked up at Panjyamon. It was now, or never.

“Fist of the Beast King!” Beelzemon felt his hand go through Panjyamon’s stomach. Just like Leomon. His eyes went wide.

“No, no! I— I haven’t....returned to her yet. No! Not................now.”

Panjyamon’s body began to crumble. Data streams started to unfurl his being. He looked straight into Beelzemon’s eyes. He gasped for air.

“Absorb— absorb my data. Please, it would be my honorable death.”

Beelzemon looked away, and let out a deep sigh. He outstretched his arms, and welcomed the little bits of data into his body. When it was done, he looked up.

Everyone had come to his call. And everyone was looking at him with murderous intentions. Especially Renamon.

“Is this what you do? Is this your ‘training’ hmmm? Do you go out and find other digimon and absorb their data to become stronger?” It was true, he felt stronger. But Panjyamon’s data also felt intrusive, wrong; it just didn’t belong there.

“No Renamon, I can explain.”

“I’m sure you can. But I’m not going to take your bullshit excuses anymore. Take a hike. You’re not welcome here.”

Guardromon gasped. “Surely you’re just joking Renamon. Where would he go? And what about his tamers? What if he dies? What would they think?”

“I don’t know, and I don’t care. Not anymore. So get lost Beelzemon. I’ve had enough of you. We all have.”

Beelzemon was startled for only a moment. But then his gaze hardened. So what if they didn’t want him. He’d been alone before. He didn’t need anyone. No one but himself. He turned around, and began walking away. Inside, he felt real shitty. Not just because of Renamon. But because the data of Panjyamon was inside of him. He could still hear him saying, “I still haven’t returned to her yet.”

What did that mean?

********Somewhere in the real world, in the United States

Skight slept soundly, peacefully. She dreamt that he had returned to her. That he put his great arms around her and kissed her. She sighed in her sleep. Maybe one day, he’d forgive her, and come back to her.

In her drawer, lied an object that was not of the real world. Rather, it came from some place else. It was small, hand sized, and black in color. In the middle of the front, was a small screen. It beeped wildly, and then stopped. The screen went fuzzy, white, and then went black completely.

Somewhere, the lover that she dreamed of , was no more.

---- more updates to come, I promise!!! review, it helps my muse!!!
