"So a binding ceremony really is a spell?" little Greta asked Ken over breakfast the next morning, her eyes wide.
Ken smiled at his best friend's adopted daughter. "Well, sort of. It... well, binds the souls to one another, so they can find their mates in other lives."
"You mean souls are reborn?" the little girl asked, spooning oatmeal into her mouth as she waited for his answer.
"Yes, little one. For example, I'm a soul that's reborn."
"Will mine be reborn?"
"I don't know," the Great Sage replied honestly. "It might, it might not. Most souls that are reborn have something they still need to do, or because their soul is strong and needed to lead others again."
"Much like your Daddy Yuuri's soul," Conrad told his niece, ruffling her curly hair.
"Really?!"
"Really."
"Did you know Dad's soul before he was Dad?"
"Very well," the half-human replied, his smile a little forced. "And he was just as kind in his previous life as he is in this one."
"Of course he was!" came the unsurprised reply. "He's *Yuuri*!"
The simple statement made both Ken and Conrad laugh.
Yozak slid into his seat, grinning at his best friend. "Morning Conrad, Greta, Your Highness," he rattled off, pulling a already prepared bowl of oatmeal closer to himself.
"Almost thought you wouldn't make it," Ken observed calmly, passing a goblet full of juice to the red head.
"I woke up in the wrong bed today. It took me a bit to find my bearings."
Conrad choked on his juice, and Greta looked up at her uncle questioningly.
"It's not my fault I had to dump you in the barracks," the dark-haired young man pointed out. "You had too much mead, my friend, and I'm not strong enough to carry you."
Yozak opened his mouth to make a smart-ass comment, but was cut short as Yuuri and Wolfram walked into the dining hall. Twin mischievous smirks slid onto Ken and Yozak's faces when they noticed that Yuuri was limping ever so slightly.
"Must have been one hell of a night last night, then," Yozak muttered, and Ken looked at his watch.
"An hour and a half late... Yeah, I'd say so."
The entire hall was staring at the newlyweds, and Yozak snickered when Wolfram winced as he leaned back against his chair.
"So, do you think Yuuri's a wildcat bottom?" he asked Ken conversationally.
Ken hissed like a cat and made clawing motions with his hands.
Conrad took it as a good sign to take his niece for a walk.
