Chapter Four

Night had fallen over Tokyo, the lights were on, lighting up the night like a Godzilla sized nightlight. The city was alive and bustling, despite the darkness falling.

Robin could not sleep, and was just layed in bed beside a snoring Amon. She was staring at the ceiling, her mind abounding with thoughts that took turns tormenting her, making her unable to settle down enough for the sleep she needed.

The dock investigation was on her list, as SOLOMON had not yet finished the autopsy on the body found their this morning. They had tried to search for anything pertaining to what witch had this type of power, and had come up with a grand total of nothing for their work. This had put Amon once more in a foul mood, one she had not seen since before they had become lovers those long months ago.

The next one was on the food court witch. Once again, they could not identify who this witch was. His DNA and fingerprints were not even in the SOLOMON data banks, and searching internationally too a special order from HQ, and that too would take some time. This too, had put Amon even deeper into a bad mood, as his ineffectual try with his power just added to his funk.

Tonight he had just gotten into bed and rolled over, facing away from his wife. He had not touched her since they had made love in the morning. They had always cuddled before going to sleep, this was the first time he had not ever held her since they had became a couple.

He had not said very much in the hours after either. Now Robin layed there in the large bed, her heart breaking a little each time that the man’s coldness became deeper and more aloof of her. In the dark of the night, her heart was now broken into a virtual a chasm.

She slipped out of bed and padded into the front room as quietly as a mouse, not caring about the coolness of the apartment this late at night on her bare body. She could not take any more of just laying there in the darkness, not one second more. She just could not shake any of what was flying around in her head.

She sat on the couch, her knees up and her head buried in here thighs. Her tears began to flow, as she did not know what to do. She had tried to talk to him off and on today, but he seemed unwilling or just unwanting to actually talk with her. His mood was having such a impact on her right then, and she was despondent about it.

For the longest time, she just sat, her tears dripping down her thighs and onto her lap. She had tried to make them stop, but she found that they came so hard, she actually was crying very silently in the darkness of the front room. She just wondered if she had done something to make the man like this.

Was he mad at the fact that she had stopped the witch, when his powers were not in his control? Was he mad at her for other reasons that she did not even know about? She cried harder, as those thoughts battered her heart.

She suddenly felt a large hand on her up pointing knees. She jumped, and looked up to see what had touched her.

Amon was standing there, looking at her. The mood was gone from his face, but it had been replaced by a generally concerned face, as he stared at her. He knelt down and pulled her knees from her face, and looked directly into the tear reddened eyes that peered back at him with a vacant stare.

He took a deep breath.
“ My mood has not been one of my good points toning, right.?” he said, sitting on the couch beside the lady.
“ You are mad at me... please tell me what I have done, and I swear I will change it!” She said, her voice quaking with emotions.

A tear suddenly appeared at the corner of the man’s eyes. She had not seen that in a long time from her husband.
“ Robin... no...” He said, his voice holding sadness and regret. “ It is not you, not in a million years.” He drew her into his chest. “ You are not to blame, not in the least.”
“ Then what?” She asked, her tears still flowing a little bit.

He just took a deep breath.
“ I just feel frustrated right now. The cases and my powers are all not going the way I want to.” He said, stroking the girl’s hair. “ I let it get to me... get into me and fester... but you’re the one that feels like is I am taking it out on.”

Robin nodded, as her head was in his chest. Amon felt her nod, and he swallowed hard with the admission of the girl.
“ I can promise you I will try and work it all out, without alienating you in any way.” He said, his own tears coming down his unshaven face. “ Please, don’t put the blame of my mood on yourself.”

His arms hugged her tightly, as he spoke. She just snaked her arm around his chest and hugged into him. She knew that he was not doing this on purpose to her. Heck, she knew he got this way long before she married him. She was glad of one thing, he had been man enough to admit it. That was the man she married, that was the man she loved. That was the man named Amon.

She lifted her head from his chest and looked at him. He kissed her so very gently, that it was almost like he did not. She gazed into his eyes, and saw that love that had been missing in them all day. For the first time in hours, she felt the weight of all of it flood off of her. He was finally all there, in mind and body.

He stood up and held a large hand out, beckoning her to come with him. She took his hand and stood up. A long kiss was taken, as she reached on her tip toes to reach her much taller mate. He kissed her with such passion, as he knew that she needed him, but not like how he had been acting.

He led her back to their bedroom, his touch on her hand was soft and caring. She let herself be led, as she watched the man in front of her.

Once in the bed and under the thick comforter, she rolled into his large body, and felt his massive arms engulf her and soothingly pin her to himself. She layed there for a moment, enjoying the feelings of him with her.
“ I am sorry, My little bird.” He whispered in her ear, his lips brushing softly against the top lobe. “ I love you.”

She just sighed, and breathed in his musky scent. That alone finally made her suddenly very sleepy.
“ I love you too...” She said with a eased voice.

They layed there, Amon stroking her hair with light repetitive strokes. The soothing action was causing her to slip asleep. He just held her, continuing the stroking of the hair.
“ Just go off to sleep, I think tomorrow will be a much better day than what it was today.” He said, whispering it to the lady.

She nodded her head slightly, cooing softly in contentment. Soon, she drifted off to sleep right there on his chest.

For the longest time, Amon layed there. He knew she finally was asleep, but was afraid to stop stroking her hair fearing he would wake her. He just layed there for awhile longer, continuing stroking her long tawny locks until he to, fell asleep.
