Chapter Four
AN: Short chapter, I'm afraid.
“Hnn… It seems as though they’re bonding quite well, ne?”
Though there were no clouds in the sky, allowing every star to be seen. And though the moon was shining bright, the darkness still engulfed the features of the man standing under a tree. Slowly, he lifted his head to look at the moon. The glow of the moon caught the lenses of his glasses, reflecting bright white off the surface further obscuring his features. However, nothing could hide that smirk with a cigarette dangling loosely from his lips.
His voice raised a few octaves, sounding rather childish. “Hai, hai-pyon!” He moved the stuffed bunny’s arms as he spoke for it.
The dark haired man tilted his head off to the side, expression never changing. His voice almost purred. “Don’t you agree, Mr. Stalker?”
A soft laugh broke through the air and the second hidden soul appeared in the moonlight. His milky white skin seemed to glow in the moonlight. Deep purple strands of hair rustled slightly with the light breeze. Blonde strands of bangs brushed his forehead. His eyes were closed, seeming to smile along with his mouth. From his lips dangled twin Mahjong bones. His long sleeves hung past his hands, concealing the Mahjong tile gently held between two clawed fingers.
“My, my… You smell like a mere human. I’m certain I was concealing myself quite well. How did you sense me?” Mr. Stalker spoke calmly.
“Appearances can be deceiving…” The man still hidden in shadows answered just as calmly. He let that hang in the air for a moment before he continued with a smooth laugh. “But, in this case, you are correct. I am but a mere human. Completely powerless against one such as you…” His smirk visibly widened into a wicked grin.
Mr. Stalker’s smirk seemed to fade slightly. He almost grew a little edgy. His fingers clenched tighter around the Mahjong tile between them. Something about this man didn’t sit right. Something told him that this man wasn’t as ‘powerless’ as he claimed to be.
“Hnn? Aren’t you going to attack me?” The moonlight continued to glint off of the spectacles, masking this man’s eyes.
Now, the second being’s smirk had completely vanished. He shifted the tile into his palm and held it tightly. “This is meant for someone else…” He replied simply.
“Mm, of course.” The human replied in a playful tone. He flicked ashes lazily from the end of his cigarette into the wind and placed it back to his lips, drawing in the smoke. He didn’t seem to pay Mr. Stalker any more mind for the time being. He could almost see the other’s trepidation and that nearly delighted him. But he was not here to observe this unexpected presence, he was here to watch the occupants of the house. However, it seemed as long as he stayed, his new ‘friend’ refused to act on whatever plan he may have had prior to encountering the human. So, the human tipped his head down in a silent goodbye and stepped back into the shadows seeming to disappear.
As the human disappeared Mr. Stalker could feel the temperature of the surrounding air increase a few degrees. That… being, whoever or whatever he was seemed to carry an air of malice around with him. It was a terrible feeling, even to him! He’d never felt anything so dreadful in his long existence, and that was saying something about this human. Shaking off the uncomfortable feeling, the pale man let the Mahjong tile slide from his palm, capturing it between his index and middle fingers. He then held it up, inches from his mouth and whispered something to the tile. With that and a flick of his wrist, the tile shattered through the window and landed on the floor.
Both Hakkai and Sanzo jumped in alarm and Goku rushed to the shattered window past the tile to see if he could locate the one that tossed the object. Hakkai moved to inspect the tile.
“Mahjong?” He asked no one in particular. Behind him he could hear Sanzo cocking the silver weapon, immediately going on the defensive. He reached down and picked up the small white tile, examining the black lettering. Emerald eyes widened and he dropped the tile reflexively as he recoiled.
This action caught Sanzo’s attention immediately. The blonde was instantly at the brunette’s side making sure he was well. Giving Hakkai a good once over he confirmed the vampire was unharmed then shifted his attention to the tile on the floor. He flipped it over with his foot and read the symbol. It read: Sin.
From outside the purple haired man smirked once more. His mood lightened now that he’d witnessed the look of sheer terror on his target’s face. “With love, Gonou…” He purred and left.
