The Dates Are Set
A/N: Wow guys 376 hits! Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy this new chapter though it is short and if so please, please, please review! I'd be happy to know what you all think of the story thus far, and whether you have any suggestions or critiques. Enjoy!

Chapter four: The Dates Are Set
Naruto ducked out of the crowd as quick as possible a happy Sakura attached to his arm. The blonde was not used to this sort of attention especially from the girl who was the cause of his heart beating so fast. His cheeks gained a slight pinkish glow as they escaped the happy people. Naruto had an idea and he wasn’t about to let this moment go. “I just got home… Maybe I should wait…” The teen sighed running a hand through his hair. The pink haired girl turned toward her friend a hint of tears still shining in her eyes. She tugged on his sleeve wanting to know very badly how he was, how his journey had went, if he were stronger. Naruto looked down at her smiling and as they rounded the corner his apartment was at he stopped and took both her hands in his. She looked at him confused.
“Listen Sakura-Chan… I know I just got home, and I know there are many things you want to hear from me.” With another deep sigh he continued. “I would love to answer all of your questions if you will go…if you will…go…onadatewithme.” he mumbled the last words and blushed slightly. Sakura turned a light shade of red as well.
“Naruto I don’t know. I mean you said it yourself you just returned and well…” She paused and looked up into the blondes face seeing the rush of disappointment at being rejected yet again by his childhood crush. “I’d love to. Where would you like to go?” Naruto’s face lit up and smiling rather sheepishly with his eyes squinted closed he let out the breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.
“How about Ichiraku ramen and a walk up to Hokage mountain to se the stars tomorrow night?” Sakura nodded in approval and Naruto scooped her up and a big hug. “Thank you Sakura-Chan! I promise you’ll like it!” The blonde let her down and with one last big grin he left her and went up to his apartment. Once inside the safety of his home he sighed happily and did a small dance. “Yes!!” he shouted and dropped his bag on to the floor which sent up a cloud of dust that nearly choked the teen. “At least it’s how I left it.” he thought as he went and opened a window to let the remaining of the dusty air filter out.

“Hinata are you all right?” Shino stood over the purple haired girl who was just coming back to consciousness. She sat up quickly which made her head spin. He caught her before she could hit her head on the fall back down to the bench the boys had placed her on. She brought her hand up to feel her forehead. She had been having a nightmare again.
“I’m fine Shino-Kun. Where’s Kiba-Kun and Akamaru?” She sat up more slowly this time. “Why did I have to faint…” She thought berating herself for her weakness when it came to Naruto especially when he had who he wanted with him, Sakura.
“Kiba went to get the Ramen to go. He said you owe him the next time he loses.” Shino smiled softly at her even though she couldn’t tell because of the large collar on his jacket. He stared at her with a longing he knew he shouldn’t have. He and Kiba were just in the friend zone. Naruto was the only one who occupied the girl’s thoughts. She hung her head down and drew her knees up to her chest resting her head on the hard tops. Kiba came riding up to them on Akamaru a bag of hot Ramen held by his side. He had a forlorn look on his face when looking towards Shino. He hopped off his dog companion and went over to his two friends.
“I brought food and news on Naruto from… Sakura.” Hinatas head shot up with the mention of her childhood crush. Kiba handed the covered bowls to his teammates. He sighed and rubbed his right temple. “Naruto and Sakura are an item now. She said that she was thoroughly excited that Naruto had asked her on a date. And that she had high hopes on his new maturity.” Hinata pushed her bowl out in front of her stating she didn’t feel like eating. The two boys looked at her and felt disheartened. She got up and went to a tree near by and sat once again with her knees to her chest, arms around her legs and head upon the hard tops. Her hair fell down into her face and they both knew why, she was fighting off tears. Kiba unsure what to do opened his soup and began to eat stealing glances at his friend. Shino on the other hand placed his bowl of Ramen with hers and went over to her. He stood beside her for a moment and then he got down onto his knees and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Hinata…” He started out unsure of what he was doing. “I know there is no way I can replace Naruto in your heart…” the bug ninja heard her stifle a sob at the mention of the blonde ninjas name. “But I know in my heart no one can replace you. Please Hinata let me take you on a date, please give me a chance.” He thought himself very out of character with this proclamation. Hinata lifted her head slightly and nodded her answer. Shino knew it was now his chance to prove his feelings to the girl. Kiba heard their conversation and lowered his head putting down his food he got up and sat on Akamaru for a moment looking longingly at the two and went home. There were some choice words he had for the bug ninja but now was not the time. Now was the time for restraint.
“Shino-Kun…” Hinata looked at him unsure why she had agreed to go on a date with him and wiping her tears away she gave a small sad smile. “Lets go eat with Kiba-Kun.”
