The Cathedral Encounter

Note: this chapter skips past the events of .hack//GU and takes place after the final chapter in Honeysuckle

Haseo and Shino went to the Chaos Gate and warped to Hidden Forbidden Sin Realm and looked around. They were on a short dirt path surrounded by trees. The path ended on a giant cliff overlooking the deep forest. What Haseo and Shino didn’t see was Tabby.
“You don’t think she went in there by herself do you?” Haseo asked
“If she did, we’d better go find her” Shino replied.
“You’re right” Haseo said, wondering if this would lead to more trouble. “We should invite another person to our group.”

Haseo chose one being who he knew would always be available for a long journey. As soon as he sent the short-mail, Azure Kite appeared. This strange, nearly demonic character was the one was originally thought to be Tri-Edge. Along the way, Haseo learned that he was wrong. Azure Kite was an entity created by the goddess of “The World”, Aura, to protect “The World. Now that “The World” was saved, Aura turned control of Azure Kite to Haseo, who he could now command as he liked.

Together, the trio walked to the gate that would teleport them down to the forest, which activated an event. The nearby Vital Vista NPC began talking. “You are finally here! Members of my race have fled to the forest. There they plan to resurrect the great evil known as Cerranos! You must stop them for only you, the chosen ones can succeed.”

Haseo, Shino, and Azure Kite walked to the second gate and warped to the first part of The Forest of Pain. The forest proved to be one of the most challenging dungeons he had ever encountered. “It’s just like the last time,” Haseo thought.

There were monsters in every corner and many traps to bypass. In addition, there was a boss every five floors. These bosses were much more powerful then they normally were with extra power and defense. However, thanks to Haseo’s and Azure Kite’s attack skills and Shino’s healing skills, they got through it pretty quickly. Soon they all walked onto the 50th floor.

There was no boss on this floor. In fact, the area looked empty. The only thing they saw was an unmoving figure up ahead. As they walked closer they saw that it was Tabby.

“How did she get here?” Haseo wondered.
“No idea” Shino replied. “But we should see if she is okay”
As they walked closer, they saw that Tabby wasn’t moving a muscle.

Azure Kite stayed behind. He didn’t speak to anybody and he didn’t get involved in the affairs of the humans. He watched the scene from a distance.

“Tabby?” Haseo said. Tabby was silent. Haseo and Shino listened closer and heard her breathing. “She’s asleep!” Haseo said disbelieving. “She somehow wandered down 50 floors and now she is asleep!”
“You should wake her up” Shino suggested.
Haseo smiled mischievously. “I’ve got the perfect wake-up call”

“Yes, and the grass will feel much more comfortable then the stone floor of the cathedral”, Shino agreed.
