Chapter 04
Ayaka swept her long dark brown hair over her shoulder and glanced around the schoolyard, where was Yuki-kun? He should be here; he never was any later.
She soon spotted the youth sitting under a tree over to one more secluded side of the yard and was typing away at his laptop computer.
“Good morning, Yuki-kun!” she smiled brightly as she seated herself next to him on the grass, “Can I call you my fiance?”
“Hn.” Yuki grunted, otherwise not acknowledging the brunette girl at all. Ayaka smiled and folded her hand in her lap.
“You know. Just if I do say something you don’t contradict me?” she shrugged, “what would be even better is if you back me up though.”
Yuki didn’t really seem to be listening but Ayaka didn’t really care at the moment. “So, what are you thinking about Yuki-kun? Is that a new story you’re writing?” she asked looking at the page. He was currently doing a spell check and rewriting some paragraphs and sentences. It was his newer novel that was going to be released sometime soon. His deadline was still a few weeks away though.
Yuki never let any of them read any exerts and whenever they did watch him typing he would usually turn it off in a moment. Which he promptly did after finishing a line.
“You know, that Shindou kid, the one who was mean to you that day? Heard he won the talent show, amazing. I mean I guess a lot of those girls must really not be your biggest fans to do something like that.” Ayaka mentioned.
“You voted for him too,” Yuki said quietly. Ayaka blushed. She hadn’t thought that anyone else would do the same thing. They were really good; the kid could have a break right?
“Yuki-kun, I’m hurt, how can you accuse me of such a thing,” she told him with a honeyed voice. Yuki’s amber eyes glanced up to glare at her.
“Save it.” He said quietly.
The next few moments were filled with an uneasy silence, mostly uneasy for Ayaka, perfectly comfortable for Yuki.
“I’ve been thinking that since I can’t actually beat up Shindou, at least not with that guy, Hiro, around, instead I’m inviting him along with everyone else in this school to a party.” Yuki said after a moment breaking the silence.
“Oh? You’re having a party?” Ayaka asked cheerfully.
“No. My older brother Tatsuha is at his place,” Yuki answered. “There it should be simple enough to separate the two. Then once I have the kid alone I can beat the crud out of him.”
“Wow, that’s a brilliant plan, Yuki-kun!” Ayaka clapped, “You are so smart to come up with such an ingenious plan. Original too.”
Yuki smirked slightly at the praise he received. Yes this would work. “My brother’s inviting everyone from Soryuu high school and I’m inviting everyone from Fukuro junior high school. Things should mesh perfectly.”
“You are so wonderful, Yuki-kun,” Ayaka smiled at him in admiration. Yuki picked up his laptop and heading off, first though to clear the atmosphere he had to start spreading some rumors to help even out everyone understanding. There needed to be no tension, so that the boys weren’t on their guard when he delivered the blow. Yes, he was quite brilliant.
`
As Hiro accompanied Shuichi onto school grounds it was almost surprising that nothing met either of them as they made their way to the schools door, especially since considering yesterdays big deal made by Yuki Eiri, surely the whole thing hadn’t blown over so soon.
“Oh yeah, Yuki-kun and Shuichi-kun used to have fights all the time, just like this at their old school,” Ayaka blabbed, “Oh you didn’t know? Figures. But it’s really not such a big deal that everyone makes it out be. There’s a party later that they’ll both probably be at anyway, Yuki-kun told me.”
“That’s a lie. What’s up with that?” Hiro asked as they passed on in. Shuichi heard it too but chose not to acknowledge it for the moment.
“Oh, this must be the party everyone’s going to be at, that Ayaka-san, mentioned.” Shuichi said taking up the piece of paper that had been slipped into his locker. It wasn’t so elaborate, it was a simple flyer about a party at Tatsuha Uesugi’s place. All students from Fukuro Junior high and Soryuu high were invited. Hiro checked his locker he had gotten one too, so had most likely everyone else too.
“Funny how that Yuki Eiri thing just sort of blew over, overnight.” Hiro commented getting his books and shutting his locker. “It seems the reason it has are those rumors, if Ayaka’s saying it Eiri must have started them. They’re false of course. He may be planning something. To throw us off guard and then do something we wouldn’t expect.”
Shuichi grinned, “Yeah he is. He’s planning a nice way to not lose face.” He shut his locker and grinned at Hiro. “Thank you so much. There were two ways this would have ended. Me on the ground with a bunch of blood on me, or him starting rumors to make everyone forget.”
“You’re probably right,” Hiro shrugged. But despite his words he couldn’t help feeling that that wasn’t the real deal at all.
`
“Wow.” Shuichi breathed as he and Hiro entered the house designated for the party. “Looks like everyone came.”
In fact it really did, the house was brimming with teens and it didn’t look like it was just a bunch of people just standing around either. There was karaoke in the corner, a movie playing, some other guys had brought out another tv and a game console and were playing that. There was a whole table devoted to junk food and everyone was doing something, kind of odd to see really.
“Lets go get some drinks,” Hiro suggested after a moment. Schuichi only nodded as they headed to the table where they got their drinks and then took the time to look around again. Very crowded, the movie didn’t look too bad though if they could go over and find a place to sit.
“Hiro! Shuichi!” Nanami called as she bounded up to the two boys, “where were you, you’re on next, I signed you guys up on the karaoke list!”
“Really? Don’t you think you should have asked first?” Hiro asked the girl. Nanami shook her head.
“No way, the waiting list is really long and everyone wants to hear you guys,” she said taking Shuichi by the hand and dragging him in the general direction of the karaoke machine with Hiro following closely behind Shuichi.
“Okay everyone this is Shuichi and Hiro,” Nanami said as she brought the boys up to the machine as she checked off their spot on the list.
“Uh, yeah this is me and Hiro, Bad Luck.” Shuichi greeted the small crowd that had gathered around the karaoke either waiting for their turn or just there to listen for whatever reason they had, “ ‘Yuuutsu Na Seven Days’ by Nittle Grasper.”
Hiro nodded he knew that song, and as the music started they sang away. Hiro provided a softer baritone to Shuichi’s stronger voice that led them through the song. Nanami smiled as she noticed half the room had stopped to listen to the boys.

“Cool. Can I share your turn?”
Shuichi looked over to who has asked, it was Ryuichi; the same boy Hiro had managed to talk to when his throat got stuck. Now though it didn’t seem so bad as he grinned at the other boy who hopped up with him.
“Sleepless Beauty okay with you?”
Shuichi nodded. And the music started.

By the time the song ended people cheered again, Hiro had sat this one out, but he grinned at Shuichi from his spot in the room.
“That was fun,” Shuichi grinned, hardly believing he was standing just next to his idol and had just sung one of Nittle Grasper’s songs with him.
“Yeah, lets do another one,” Ryuichi offered with a grin.
“Its Ryuichi-sama!” someone cried inside the room and a stampede of people appeared at the karaoke area, it was a mob.
“Ah!” Ryuichi dashed off Shuichi behind him though more in a way of trying to get out of the crowds way as Hiro covered for them somewhat as they ducked away upstairs somewhere and locked the door after them. Bedroom, figures, at least it wasn’t a broom closet or a tiny bathroom.
“What now?” Shuichi wondered aloud. Ryuichi sat down next to him on the floor and shrugged.
“Wait it out I guess.” He answered. Then glancing at the ceiling asked, “so, wanna play a game or something to pass some time?”
“Sure, what kind of game?” the slightly younger boy returned.
“Word game? One of us says a word and then the other has to use the ending letter sound at the beginning of their word.” Ryuichi explained.
“Sure,” Shuichi nodded.
“Ricocheted.”
“Share.”
“Roam.”
“Move.”
“Vast.”
“Try.”
“Rye.”
“Yes.”
“Silent.”
“Turn.”
“Nourish.”
“Shark.”
“Cantalope.” Ryuichi returned, “you look a lot like me.”
“Huh?” Shuichi asked, the comment coming from out of the blue.
“You style your hair a lot like mine.” Ryuichi said examining it, leaning forward slightly to pick at a lock of it that was sticking out of place.
“I know, I copied it really,” Shuichi said embarrassed.
“You did a good job,” he said, “Stand up.”
Shuichi did so and Ryuichi stood with him and using his hand estimated their height. “Your frame is a lot like mine too. Not to mention our height.”
“Yeah, pretty cool,” Shuichi grinned.
“You also like music a whole lot,” Ryuichi commented, “I do too, but I guess that was kind of obvious. But I wonder what else we have in common.”
“Like?” Shuichi wondered. There was no way Ryuichi and him read the same comic books. Or maybe they did, he wasn’t sure.
“Size.” Ryuichi shrugged.
“I thought we already did height.” Shuichi said puzzled.
“No, size. I wonder if I’m bigger than you or if we’re the same,” Ryuichi explained. Shuichi looked thoughtful for a moment before it clicked. He was talking about their manhoods. He looked back at Ryuichi and the older boys smile confirmed his suspicion.
