Chapter 4

Turning around in my arms, Celiena looked at me, tears in her eyes. Leaning up, she kissed me. “Of course I do!”
Smiling, I returned her kiss. “Now, there’s one last thing....”
Celiena looked at me, puzzled. “What would that be, Master?”
Laughing at that last bit, I squeezed her gently. Reaching into my coat, I withdrew the Pokeball containing the Widow. “What do we call her?”

As we walked through the thick woods, Celiena and I tried to come up with a good name for my Widow. After a few hours, a thought struck me. Reaching into my pack, I withdrew a well-read book, my favorite when I was a child, which I guess I tossed in with the rest of my things. The book was ancient, the writing on the cover hardly distinguishable. My Grandfather gave it to me shortly before he passed away, telling me that it was akin to a family heirloom, since it was in my family from the time of Sukebe.
Flipping through the pages, careful not to damage them, I searched and searched. Finally I found the page I was looking for. “I have the perfect name, one from ancient history.” I told Celiena.
“Well, what is it?” she asked, somewhat impatiently.
“Shelob.”
“Shelob?” she repeated. “Where on earth did you come up with that name?”
I presented her the book, which she carefully took from my hands. “The Lord Of The Rings?” she asked, looking at me, puzzled.
“It was my favorite when I was a kid.” I told her. “Shelob is a Widow-like creature from this book, very ancient and powerful. I think she might like it.”
“Maybe. But I like it anyway.” Celiena cuddled up closer to me, wrapping her arms around my body as we continued to walk through the woods.
“So, where are we going?”

For the next two years, Celiena, Shelob and I wandered through the Mountian League. We took on any job that we could get, often exchanging our services for food and a place to sleep. When we were not working, or traveling the countryside, we were training.
Amazingly Celiena and Shelbob became a great team together, knowing each other’s moves, and helping each other out during battles. We even managed to win a few Gym Badges, whether it was due to their skills, or just the fear factor of having a Widow in your Harem, we couldn’t tell.
Ah, Shelob, my Widow. You’re probably wondering why in the world I decided to keep such a menacing Pokegirl in my Harem? Well, there is something about her that she keeps hidden, even from me. When I look into her eyes, I can see fear deep within her soul. She hardly ever talks, and when she does, it’s never above a whisper.
Someday I will discover her secret, and hopefully when that time comes, I will be able to help her face what ever darkness lurks within her past.
After traveling to almost every part of the Mountian League, we decided to travel the world. We began to hop from League to League, picking up Gym Badges here and there, but mainly scaring other Tamers whenever I brought Shelob out into battle. Many Tamers ran away in fear, while the brave ones who stayed to finish the battle...usually gave the victory to me, not wanting their girls to be hurt by Shelob.
We traveled by any means we could get, wether we paid for our trip, or worked aboard the ships to pay for our tickets. We made the most money by being mercenaries. It didn’t matter is we helped someone one week, then the next we were helping someone else who was the enemy of our previous employer. It was the money we cared about.
In our travels, we even dared to enter the Dark Continent. As soon as we crossed the border into that League, we could feel the eyes of Sanctuary upon us. We never reached the hallowed halls of Sanctuary, though I swear that I saw a Sanctuary Goth one evening, watching us silently through the trees.
Three years we traveled together, gaining experience, Badges, and not to mention money. But through all our travels, we never seemed to find our place in the world. Then we felt the need to return home to the Mountian League.

Leaving the Edo League behind us, we headed back to the Mountian League. Nothing much had changed since we last were home, some towns had grown, new Pokecenters had popped up here and there. It was the same old League.
One day, while we were traveling, an old road sign caught my eye. Walking up to it, I brushed the dirt off of it, and was surprised when I read the destination.
Kampa. Celiena and my old home, the place where we grew up together.
“Fallen, what’s the matter?” Celiena asked as she walked up to me. I pointed to the sign, and heard her gasp. “You mean, after all this travel, we’re finally home?”
I nodded. “Yes, my dear. Our ‘home’ is near.” Turning, I looked at her. “Do you wish to see it again?”
She was silent for a moment, then nodded slowly. “Yes, I would like to see it again, just once.”
Picking up my pack from the side of the road, Celiena and I began to walk towards our old home, uncertain what we would find once we arrived.

As we neared the gates that lead into Kampa, memories of our past slowly flooded our minds. Celiena and I began to talk about our childhoods, and our romantic encounters. Slowly, I noticed a subtle change in the air, from the invigorating smell of pine and fresh soil, to the smell of ash and charcoal. Looking into the sky, I could see dense smoke hovering over the treetops.
Quickening our pace, we rounded the last bend into the town, stopping dead in our tracks. Feeling Celiena stiffen beside me, I turned and looked at her, flames reflected within her eyes.
Our hometown was burning.
All around us, the fires burned. Our childhood memories, our lives, disappearing by the second as the flames engulfed everything.
Without a second thought, I released Shelob from her Pokeball, telling her to look for anyone still alive and to take them to the outskirts of the town. After she ran off, I turned and took Celiena by the shoulders, tearing her eyes off the flames, forcing her to look at me.
“Celiena, I know you’re scared.” I told her. “I’m absolutely terrified. But we have to put our emotions aside for now, and try to get as many people to safety as possible.”
She nodded slowly, I could see her forcing back tears. Drawing her to me, I kissed her gently before rushing off into one of the nearby buildings.
When I emerged from the burning building, the folks following closely behind me, I did not see Celiena where I had left her. Quickly I lead them to the outskirts of the town where already many of the townsfolk were waiting, children clinging to their mother’s dresses bawling.
Running back into town, I could hear screams coming from the right of me, glancing in the direction of the screams, I laughed lightly as I saw Shelob running out of a building, before her a family scared out of their wits by the Widow. I shouted to them that it was ok, but they didn’t hear me, and continued running for their life towards the rest of the townsfolk.
Turning back to the way I was heading, I nearly collided with Celiena. Stopping to catch our breaths in the smoky air, I asked her if there was anyone left.
“Y-yes...I think...” she began, but began to cough.
“Hurry, go to the others and wait for me, and tell Shelob to wait also.” I told her. Nodding, she ran towards the entrance, calling to Shelob to follow her.
Standing in the Town Square, I looked about me, watching as the flames engulfed my past. It was eerily soothing to watch my old hometown burn, as if it was wiping away all the pain and suffering I had endured while living there.
A call for help snapped me from my daydream. Turning, I located the building from which the scream had come from, and my eyes widened in shock. It was coming from my house. The thick wooden front door gave way beneath my weight as I crashed y shoulder into it, breaking away in a cloud of splinters and embers.
I blocked out any sense of pain and listened to where the sound was coming from. Bolting up the stairs, I ducked under burning beams, and half-collapsed walls. Smashing my way into my parent’s room, my heart leapt into my throat as I saw my mother pinned to the bed beneath a burning beam.
Running up to her, I tried to move the beam, but it would not budge an inch. Reaching into my coat, I grasped at the empty Pokeball that would contain Shelob, before remembering where she was.
Shaking my head in dismay, I turned and looked at my mother, tears in my eyes.
“Who are you?” she asked, studying my face in the light of the flames, which was half-hidden underneath the rim of my hat.
Taking my hat off, I looked up at her, her eyes widening in shock. “Fallen....is it really you?”
“Yes, mother.” I replied. “Mother...I can’t move this beam by myself....”
She shook her head. “It’s alright.” she told me. “I’m going to die anyways....”
“Don’t say that!” I told her, tears flowed down my cheeks, only to be taken away by the heat of the flames.
“Don’t cry, my son.” she reached up and touched my cheek. Despite the fire surrounding us, her touch was like ice. “I’m only glad that I was able to see you again before I died.”
“Mother....”
“Now go....I won’t have you trapped in here to perish too!” she scolded me. “I want you to know, that I was....always....proud of you....” her words died away as she took her last breath.
Closing her eyes, I kissed her softly on her forehead. Turning, I slowly made my way out of the building, the walls and ceilings collapsing behind me.
By now the entire town was fully engulfed by flames, the empty husks that once were homes, now bonfires. As I walked towards the entrance of the town, I began to get short of breath, the air was now thick with smoke.
Walking through the flames, I emerged onto the road leading into what was once a quiet little town. Celiena looked up at me as I walked out of the flames, the town gate ablaze above me.
Running up to me, I had to try and keep my self from falling over as she embraced me tightly, her tears falling against my cheek. Leading her away from the flames, I held her while she cried.
Looking up, my eyes met the stare of all the townsfolk. Their faces covered with ash, some with lines from where their tears had run through the dirt on their faces. I could see and hear the children crying, as well as some of the women. The men, trying hard to hide their emotions did their best to try and calm their loved ones.
I called out to Shelob, who emerged from the nearby woods, causing screams from many of the townsfolk. Quickly I returned her to her Pokeball, causing wide shock from everyone around me. Taking Celiena gently by her shoulders, I led her away from our burning home, and the people watching it burn.

We left Kampa behind us forever.

The Tamer looked up from the ground, his eyes fixing on the blank expression of another Tamer standing before him. The sun casting a shadow across half his face, though a thin, white scar was visible running down the right side of his face.
“After that day, we never again returned to that place. We found out sometime later that my father had died a few years before of a heart attack, and my mother hired some of the local people to help her run the store. As for Celiena’s folks... Well, they left Kampa shortly before the fire. Nobody has heard from them since.”
The Tamer, finished his story. Looking at his fellow Tamer, a smile flashed across his face. “Are you sure you want to battle me now?” he said, as a Dark Lady and a Widow slowly walked up beside him.
The other tamer, his eyes widening in shock at seeing the Widow, turned and fled.
“Fallen..” the Dark Lady said, as she took his hand. “You should really stop doing that... It keeps scaring away any opponent. How are we ever going to get any experience or money?”
Turning, he kissed her deeply. “Don’t worry, Celiena. I’ll think of something. There is a Tournament and festival happening soon in Riven....”
