Part IV: Turning to a Friend
“What are you doing here Hitomi?”
Hitomi shifted her weight as she stood in the doorway to one of her best friends’ house. “Do you think I could stay here for a while?”
“Did something happen at your place? Are you okay?”
Letting out a sigh Hitomi dropped her shoulders. “You could say that.”
Moving to the side of his doorway Dilandau Albatou let Hitomi walk into his house. “Does your family know that you’re here?”
“No… I don’t want them to know where I am.” Hitomi looked at her friend carefully. “Please don’t tell them, please?”
“If I agree will you tell me what happened.”
Shaking her head adamantly Hitomi sigh sadly. “I can’t tell you what happened.”
Raking his hand through his silver hair he grunted. “How long do you need to stay here?” When he got no answer from her he laughed. “You know I need to tell my mom that you’re staying here.” He held up his hand when he saw that she was getting panicked. “I’ll tell her not to call your family. Whatever it was that made you feel the need to runaway is up to you to work out.” Taking her bag from her he walked upstairs. “Come on, I’ll show you to the room that you can stay in.”

Sitting on her bed Hitomi gave Dilandau a curious look.
“What?” Dilandau was standing in the doorway after having just told his mom about Hitomi needing to crash with them for a little while.
“You won’t tell him will you?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You know who I’m talking about. I know you’re friends with him too.”
“Was it Van that upset you?”
Closing her eyes she nodded slowly. “I just can’t tell you what happened yet. This is the only thing that I could think of to do.”
“I’ll help you however I can Hitomi.”

“Hitomi? Hitomi, will you come out?” Varie tried knocking on her daughter’s door again when she didn’t get an answer. “Hitomi?” Slowly opening Hitomi’s door she expected to see her daughter on the bed sleeping. Hitomi had locked herself in her room all day. Gaou was already back from work and had been informed about what his son had said to Hitomi.

Jumping off the couch Gaou an up the stairs as fast as he could. Van was right behind his father, taking two stairs at a time.
“What’s wrong Varie?”
It was Varie’s scream that caused Gaou and Van to race up the stairs. Even with her husband there Varie could only point towards Hitomi’s bedroom.
Hesitantly Gaou walked into his daughter’s room, terrified of what he was going to find. “She’s gone…”
“What? Hitomi would never…” Looking into his younger sister’s room Van’s eyes widened. “She ran away… she ran away…”
“Where did you tell her to go!?”
“I didn’t plan this! I would never want Hitomi to run away. She must have gone to Yukari’s.”
