Author's Note
Dear all,
Thank you so much for reading my story. The reception of 'The Mello Code' completely took me by surprise. I had never received a 1000 hits during the writing of a story before, then it went to 2000 and finally 3000. At the time of writing, this story is only 90 hits behind 'It Matters', which has been up for seven months and was the clear favourite. I have been increasingly humbled by just how many people have visited here to read the updates as they happened. Thank you so much.
I have some people to thank. Many chapters of 'The Mello Code' rested upon Mello's Catholicism. I'm not a Catholic. I'm not even a Christian. I'm an Alexandrian Wiccan High Priestess. Without any hope then of understanding the complexities of the Catholic faith, I had to rely very heavily upon a live journal community of Catholic Death Note fans. They responded brilliantly to me throwing Matt's observations at them and between them provided the voice of Mello, as he countered the slur to their religion. Catmoongirl, Mariposasabrosa, Saigocage, Snuffles_Moonie and Xixarx, plus associated mothers, thank you so much. It was Mariposasabrosa, in trying to talk me through something, who came up with the classic, 'stfu i is God', which I just had to quote.
Gracias Spoiled-kitten, who translated all of the Spanish for me.
Thank you too those who have been a constant source of encouragement during the writing of this. Nine Lives, Melissa, Blair, Tdorian, Mattkun, Coloured Red, Flavourite, Awhaaaa, Aruslym, Saigocage and everyone else who stunned me with all of those hits. Also, in the background, there have been the two Yulias. One e-mailed to ask me if she could translate a one-shot into Austrian and German for her forum, while the other Yulia has gained permission to translate the entire of 'All The Way Here' into Russian. Then all those who have e-mailed me with questions to ask people from these stories. I have been gathering their responses and it will turn up here over the next couple of days.
I'd also like to give a special mention to Miyamashi, who is always letting me bounce ideas off her. Then there was the wonderful Andariel, who is an amazing Mello cosplayer. My imagination failed on the subject of what Mello would look like in a black Manchester United woollen hat. All I asked was that she put on her Mello wig and a black hat, then report back. The response was a photograph, in which she also had in blue contact lenses and had applied the scar. I could have kissed her. Finally, there's Blairbender and Maru-Light, who acted as my ears. I'm partially deaf, completely so in one ear, so there are things with sounds that I can't even imagine, let alone write. They each logged onto MangaBullet at the precise moment that I was puzzling over what was feasible and how it would sound. They were both great at describing these strange things to me, so that I could translate it into part of the narrative.
I hope that I haven't forgotten anyone. If I have, shout up. You know you're loved.
Thank you again for reading.
yours

PS I'm about to upload this onto MangaBullet: http://www.mangabullet.com/visit/MRS-Jeevas which is where myself and just about everyone I've just mentioned hang out. If you're ever passing, pop in and say hello.
PPS Less than three. :D
