"Your fight seems to have been postponed indefinitely," the Emperor commented.

"Yeah, old man's been sulking in his ship," the general commented, tried to contain himself and laughed his head off for what seemed to his brother to be the thousandth time that week.

"You can't be that amused can you?"

"You've got to admit, it's pretty damn funny...an old warhorse like him being beaten by her daughter...how many times does that happen?"

"A son doing that is normal, but for a daughter to do that...it's unheard of."

The general's com-link beeped and he growled, "What?"

"We've received a message front he mining fleet...they are under attack."

"Grrr...tell the fleet to deploy," the general said and ran out of his brother's quarters on the space station.

"Sith fur fucks," the Emperor said and then felt the cool, soft hands of his mate. He calmed and pulled her into his lap.

"Do you miss it?" she asked.

"Yes, but I chose this path because I felt it was the right thing to do. I don't want another female to go through what you went through, my precious mate," he said and rubbed his face in her mane of hair.

"I feel naked," Gene muttered.

"That shouldn't be nothing new for you...you practically fuck these freaks every time you three are alone. Hell, if I wasn't here and if we weren't about to go into battle you three probably would fuck right here on the bridge," Aisha grinned.

"Shut up!" Gene retorted.

"C3 computer and tactical computer on-line," Gilliam reported.

"Jumping to trans-ether in 5...4...3...2...1..." Melfina called out and the Outlaw Star and the rest of the fleet jumped.

The main chamber of the power plant room lit up an eerie green as the dragonite infused magnetic core came to life, the testing done.

"Where's Hawkins? Shouldn't he be here?" an engineer asked.

"He and Zyrashia are down in the lowers levels...they've kept that section a secret on what it's supposed to be."

"Any idea what those two are working on?"

"Don't know, but if I had to guess they are probably working on a secondary weapons system.

"Or fucking," and the two started laughing.

The mining ships were holding their own as the Sith and Rorgans attacked. However, even though they were heavily armored, the ships alone couldn't defeat a whole fleet by themselves.

Fortunately, they didn't have to. The alliance ships jumped into normal space, right on top of the Sith and Rorgans, surprising the enemy ships.

As the main body of the fleet took on the Sith Rorgan attackers, the mining ships jumped into trans-ether. The Sith and Rorgans, seeing that they had been stopped, jumped away.

"They were attacked, but the fleet insured that they weren't destroyed or boarded," Zyrashia reported.

"Another reason to get this system on-line," Jim said as he continued working.

"But dragonite has never been used like this. Plus, we've got enough fire power from the four outer missile launchers."

"Enough to repel, not destroy. I want to end this and this is our best chance at that."

"But this might not work...we are taking a risk with this new system."

"Don't worry, the two of us built every square inch of this. new system. It'll work," Jim said confidently and Zyrashia found herself smiling. Her mate's confidence was infectious.

"I don't think you know what you've really done," Aisha's mother said.

"I beat up father in front of a lot of officers, so?" Aisha replied.

"So? What you did is only usually done by the eldest son of a family, not a daughter."

"He had it coming mother. It wasn't my fault that I stayed with Jim and Gene."

"I know he had it coming and I know that the Ctarl brass had you exiled because of the Leiline thing, but I've never seen him like this."

"Mother, I have a mate and a beta female working inside of an asteroid and I don't know if they'll make it back or not!" she said, having gotten progressively louder as she said every word.

Her mother sighed. She would talk to her child when her mate was back in her arms.

"Where's the kid?" the Ctarl general growled.

"He's...they are down in the lower part of the base...they've been working down there almost non-stop on something," the engineer on the other end replied.

"At least you have communications up and running," Valeria noted.

"We've actually got the main power generator up, the magnetic shield, and the four outer missile launcher asteroids are ready, but Hawkins and Zyrashia are apparently not happy with those defenses."

The screen went dark and the Ctarl general swiped at his hair.

"What's he up to?" he asked, turning to the red headed wing commander.

"I...have absolutely no idea, but he'd only be acting like this if he knew that whatever he was doing was help," Gene assured.

"Then, it's your ass if this personal project fails or not," the Ctarl general growled and Gene sighed. What the hell was Jim doing?

It was uncomfortable for him to be sitting in the command chair, especially since he wasn't chief engineer.

"Uh, sir," a youthful female engineer began, sitting at a console that was mostly dark, "the C3 and tactical computers just lit up like a Christmas...you better come take a look."

the engineer leapt out of his seat and over to the C3 and tactical consol. His eyes widened, seeing what Jim and Zyrashia had added to the under side of the base.

"Quit drooling over the console," Jim said as he and Zyrashia stepped onto the command deck.

"How...?" the other engineer asked.

"Never mind that..." Jim began and the tactical computer reported that the fleet of Sith and Rorgan ships.

"They are two hours away, but our own fleet can't be here for three hours," Zyrashia said.

"Then," Jim said and sat in the command chair, "we show them that this set of rocks isn't so defenseless," he finished with a grin.
