Beginning of the End
Sorry this is so short. It just refused to be any longer.

“Hey, your royal majesty of pissyness, got any wild idea where Tenpou headed off to?” Kenren said, lounging in the doorway of Konzen’s office.
“Looking for Shi,” Konzen said shortly, stamping yet another paper from the endless supply of documents.
“Yeah, I figured that. Know when he planned to be back?”
“I’d imagine after he finds her. Why?”
Kenren shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pockets. “Dunno. Something weird seems to be going on with Li Touten though and I don’t like it. Especially not when Nataku is so close to Goku and Shi.”
Konzen’s eyebrows went up. “Oh? And what have you heard about him?”
“Well, that’s the thing. I’ve been hearing a lot of odd things about him and about Nataku. Seems that Li Touten’s wife likes to talk to herself when she’s napping and some of the servants overheard her saying some very strange things in her sleep.”
“And what might those strange things be?”
“That she’d never given birth to the child Li Touten claims as theirs.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, plus she said he’d created the boy using magick and demon blood among other things. But claimed he was born from her to keep Nataku from being labeled and abomination like Goku or even Homura were.”
“I see,” Konzen said, folding his hands under his chin and looking at Kenren suspiciously. “This is a lot of information from a nap. Anything else?”
“Just one more thing,” Kenren said, walking over to Konzen’s desk and pouring him a cup of saki. “Here, I think you might need this.”
Konzen eyed him dubiously before taking the cup from him and downing it in one swallow. “Is it that bad?”
“It could be. If you consider the thought of Li Touten trying to become Emperor a bad thing.”
“Give me another drink.”

Tenpou opened his eyes slowly, having been woken by the light filtering through the thin curtains and the sounds of a household stirring to greet the morning. He smiled a little to himself and wrapped his arms more firmly around the precious person in the bed with him. He kissed the top of Shi’s head before winding one finger around a curl. He couldn’t remember a morning when he’d felt so content upon waking. Couldn’t begin to think of a time when he’d been so happy to wake up next to someone. Especially when there hadn’t been any sex involved, just sleep.
They’d spent most of the night before dancing and talking. Really talking about things that were important to both of them and figuring out how they were going to work things out as a couple. As lovely as the previous night had been, this . . . this was sheer bliss to him. He would have been perfectly comfortable staying like this forever.
Shi stirred and stretched a little before opening her eyes and smiling at him. Yes, he thought, I could get used to this in the morning.
“Morning. How did you sleep?” Shi asked, trying to avoid yawning.
“Excellent. But waking up has been so much better,” he said, leaning forward to kiss her.
Shi laughed. “Oh, I see how you are. Ignoring me for a hundred years then acting like a besotted fool after telling me you love me and getting me into bed,” she said, smirking at him.
“I think it remarkable gentlemanly of me that I haven’t ravished you yet,” Tenpou teased back.
Shi shrugged. “I really fail to see what all the fuss is about concerning sex.”
Tenpou stared at her blankly for a moment. “You just haven’t been with the right person.”
“Oh? Think you can make me see stars when other men haven’t?”
He chuckled evilly and said, “I know I can.”
