Ch 4

Ch. 4

Ken stretched in his bed, his legs were killing him from the long walk he and Robyn took. Even though she had fallen asleep about half an hour before they reached their house and he had to carry her, it was a nice walk. He smiled at the memory of when they were dancing.

A knock sounded at the door, and all the sudden Yoji’s head popped through the door, “Hey, where’s Robyn?”

“Not in here if that is what you are thinking,” Ken rolled his eyes.

Yoji lifted an eyebrow, “Don’t use that tone with me,”

“What is your deal with her anyway? You got a crush on her?” Ken lifted an eyebrow.

“No, I can’t explain, I feel as if we are connected some how,” Yoji explained.

***

Yoji, Ken, Omi, Rahn, Robyn, and Jade sat around the dining room table. “Okay! Here’s lunch!” Aya set down the plates in front of everyone and took her seat.

“Mmm! Looks good!” Robyn picked up her chop sticks.

“Okay, I can’t keep my mouth shut anymore.” Omi put his chop sticks down. “Is it just me or does Yoji and Robyn look alike?”

“Yeah, I’ve noticed that too.” Aya agreed.

“Hey, are you two hiding a secret from us?” Ken asked.

“What are you talking about?” Robyn, too, put her chopsticks down.

“Let’s just get to the point.” Rahn leaned forward. “Are you two siblings?”

“WHAT!?! No!!!” Robyn and Yoji said in unison.

“That’s not possible!” Robyn held up her hands. “My only sibling, my brother, died in a car crash with my father before I was born.”

“And I don’t have any siblings.” Yoji countered, then mumbled, “At least none that I know of.”

“What was that, Yoji?” Jade asked.

“I said,” Yoji began, “at least none that I know of. My father and mother got a divorce when my mom was- wait… I do have a sibling. My mom was pregnant when my dad took me with him…”

“Then maybe… Robyn’s mother never told her about her brother…” Omi thought out loud.

“No!” Robyn slammed her fist on the table. “That’s not possible! My brother and father died in a car crash!”

“Robyn! Here’s and idea!” Jade interjected. “Call. Your. Mom. And. Ask!!!”

“Oh… Okay.” Robyn walked over to the phone and dialed her mother’s phone number. “Hey, mom? It’s Robyn……… Yeah, I’m fine. Right after the- mom… stop crying. I’m okay……… Oh, I’m in Tokyo. I’m Okay. Me and Jade are just staying with- mom… I know it’s very far away from Okinawa… stop crying…” Robyn looked at everyone and rolled her eyes.

Yoji got up and grabbed the phone from Robyn. “Hey, stop crying damnit! Robyn’s trying to ask you something!……… She wants to know if her brother and father really died in a car accident or if you just didn’t want her to know about them. And you better tell the truth!”

After a slight pause, Yoji dropped the phone. “What!? What is it!?” Robyn asked.

Yoji walked up to Robyn and pulled her close into a loving hug. Robyn could feel him shaking and felt his tears dripping down onto her neck. Robyn, in shock, brought her arms up and embraced Yoji.

***

Robyn went into Jade’s room. “Jade, you have a minute?”

“Yea sure,” Jade answered, “What is it?”

“Do you know where the guys are?” Robyn lifted a brow, “I was looking for them but I can’t find them,”

“Yea the flower shop,” Jade stood up, “I was just getting ready to go there,”

“Okay, I’ll go with you,” Robyn smiled then ran ou the the bedroom.

As soon as they entered the flower shop, two aprons were thrown at them. “Hey what’s this?” Jade asked.

“Your payment,” Yoji said simply.

“Okay, I’m your sister, so can I go now?” Robyn pleaded.

“Nope you gotta work,” Yoji said pulling her to the register.

“But-” Robyn started.

“No buts about it, get working,” Yoji said, g ove over to Jade. “You can tend to the flowers.”

“I can’t! I kill everything I touch!” Jade confessed.

Yoji chuckled, “You’ll be fine. Aya can help you. Yo, Aya! Jade’s gonna help you tend to the flowers.”

“Okay.” Aya smiled. “Jade, can you water the freesias?”

“Um… okay…” Jade looked at all the flowers around her. “Which ones are the freesias?”

Aya giggled, “Here water the roses. I’ll take care of the freesias.”

Jade nodded and took the watering can.

***

“Um… okay, baby’s breath….” Robyn looked the price up on the chart and put it into the cash register. “Here ya go. Have a nice day!”

The customers nodded their thanks and walked away. “Hey, how are you doing?” Ken asked, walking up to her.

Robyn smiled and gave the thumbs up, “AAAAchooooooooooooo!!!”

“So I guess the thumbs up sign in girl language means ‘I’m allergic to flowers’?” Ken laughed.

“I’m gonna be sneezing up a storm.” Robyn sniffled. “No one’s gonna want to buy flowers that have snot all over them.”

Ken laughed again, “You’ll be fine. Just turn your head into your sleeve to sneeze.”

Robyn nodded and Ken went back out to the front to help the customers.

***

“Um… Aya?” Jade called Aya over.

Aya walked over to where Jade was, “Yes? Oh, no! The roses don’t need that much water!!!” She picked up the flower pot and tipped it upside down to drain the water out.

Jade looked down, “Sorry.”

“No, it’s okay…” Aya put her hands on Jade’s shoulders. I’ll just tend to the flowers with you.”

Jade nodded, “Okay, but I’m warning you… I kill everything.”

“I’m sure it’s not that bad,” Aya giggled out.

“Oh believe me, it is…”

***

“AAAAchooooo” Robyn sneezed into her sleeve. “Yes sir? You would like mums?” Robyn rung up the price. “Have a nice day,” Robyn looked at the time, “Good closing time,” Robyn walked to the door and flipped the open sign to say ‘closed’. She walked up stairs and threw her apron on the couch. She saw Yoji and glared at him. “Asshole!”

“Wha….?” Yoji was tackled by Robyn, “What’s wrong with you!?”

“You made me work with something I’m allergic to!” Robyn tickled him.

“Sorry, I didn’t know you were allergic to pollen.” Yoji laughed.

“No.” Robyn sat up. “I’m allergic to flowers.”

“Same thing.” Yoji chuckled. “But it’s the only way to earn your keep.”

“Yeah.” Robyn smiled. “I’m going to take a shower… get the pollen off of me.”

Robyn got up off of the couch and walked out of the room.

***

Ken stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around him, “Ah! Nice and clean!”

“Oro!?!?” Robyn walked into the bathroom wearing only a towel.

“Uh…” Ken paused to look over Robyn. Nice…

Robyn looked over Ken’s body. I know I shouldn’t but… come on! His body is hott!!!

“Sorry!” Ken turned his head. “I’ll be out of your way in a minute.”

Robyn waved her hand, “Nah! Sokay! Don’t mind me. Just pretend I’m not here.” She turned on the shower and took off her towel.

Ken’s eyes got huge. Please don’t let Yoji see this! Ken looked over her body quickly. He shook his head and walked out of the bathroom and quickly ran to his room.

***Next day***

Robyn slowly sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. She quickly walked over to her closet and grabbed a pair of hip hugger blue jean flares and a white skin tight spaghetti strap shirt that ended right under her bellybutton. She quickly dressed and combed through her hair. She walked out of her room to hear Ken laughing.

She walked behind him and tapped his shoulder, “What’s so funny?”

Ken looked back and smiled at Robyn, “Oh, I didn’t think anyone else was up,” He looked at the T.V. “Saturday morning cartoons,”

“Cool! I haven’t watched T.V in a while,” Robyn sat next to him. She couldn’t explain how she felt when she was around Ken… She didn’t know but she liked it. And she was happy to find out that her brother was still alive and now she was living with him.

Ken kept his eyes on the T.V but his mind was on Robyn. He thought for a second what would happen if he had just leaned over to kiss her. He shook his head at the thought. Yoji would end up coming out just in time to see that.

***

Jade woke up and stretched. She got into her closet and picked out black wide legged pants and a black spaghetti strap shirt. She walked out of her room and bumped into someone, “Sorry,”

“Oh it is fine,” It was Aya, only in a towel.

Jade looked Aya’s body up and down quickly, “Taking a shower?”

“Nope just got out,” Aya smiled and pointed to her wet hair.

“Yea, stupid question, What time do we go to the store?” Jade asked quickly.

“Well, you and I go in at noon to water the plants but today is Saturday, the shop is closed.” Aya smiled. “Excuse me while I go get dressed.”
