Ya see, I didn’t forget about all my fans. Now, I wrote this chapter about a million times over. I just couldn’t get it right. So finally I got it down and here it is. Hope it’s just as great as all the rest. Personally I don’t think so.

As always, “word” =spoken, and ‘word’=thoughts.
I do not own the song in this fic. It belongs to Linkin Park: [word]=song.
Oh and something new, (word)=notes from me to you

Disclaimer for Gravitation is on chapter one.

Chapter 5: Coma

Shuichi was lying on the floor, unconscious. He could hear in the back of his mind a voice calling him. Telling him to wake up. He felt hands grab his shoulders and shake them hard, but Shuichi still didn’t wake up. There was screaming and yelling, then he felt himself being thrown against something and a sharp pain in his side. Shuichi screamed inside his head, wanting all the pain and noise to stop. He didn’t realize that his mouth wasn’t moving and no one could hear him.

Shuichi tried to open his eyes but he couldn’t. They were just too heavy. He then felt a pressure come down on his chest several times. Shuichi could hear his breathing start to become shallow and his throat start to constrict. Then every noise and sound was gone.

Shuichi was lying in a hospital bed unmoving and totally asleep. Because he had a concussion and then fell unconscious, he is now in a coma. The bed was white from pillow to comforter and sheet. There was a tube on his right hand, the left still in the cast. A breathing tube wrapped around the front of his nose and tucked behind his ears. (You know what im talking about right?) And machines hooked up to him in some way or another to monitor his heart rate, blood pressure and everything else. It was later that same night, maybe around 8 or 9, and he was still in a coma, no sign as of yet that he plans on waking up.

Akuma had taken Shuichi to the emergency room after he passed out. Well, after trying to “wake” him up that is. While the doctors and nurses were working on him, Akuma called up Hiro. Hiro in turn called everyone else and they all met up at the hospital.

Akuma, Hiro, and Suguru all sat in the waiting room. K was in America visiting his family and Sakano was taking care of everything back at NG. Nittle Grasper won’t get back form tour until tomorrow night. (Or maybe not.) Hiro turned towards Akuma and asked sternly, “What happened? And don’t think about lying.”

Akuma looked over with a face of shock, tears already drying on his face. “Why would I have a reason to lie? For your information, Shuichi went to the store and came back looking beaten and ready to pass out.” Akuma started to cry fresh tears as he continued. “Then he passed out in my arms okay?!”

Hiro was about to reply but Suguru put a hand on his shoulder. Hiro looked over at him and Suguru just shook his head. Hiro turned back to face front and let out a heavy sigh.

After an hour, the doctor came in. They all stood up waiting. “I’m all finished with him. We moved him to a secure floor where he can rest but I’m not sure when, if ever, he’ll wake up.”

Hiro took a step forward and with wide eyes asked carefully, “What are you talking about, ‘if ever’?”

The doctor sighed and looked down briefly. When he looked back up his face was sympathetic and he explained Shuichi’s condition. “Your friend has a concussion. It’s pretty bad too. When you have a concussion you aren’t supposed to fall asleep because you might not wake back up. So in other words Shuichi is in a coma.”

“It’s that bad?” Akuma asked, ready to fall apart and the doctor nodded sadly. “Can I see him now?”

The doctor nodded again and said the room number. When Akuma walked over to the elevator the doctor watched him go. Once gone he turned back around to face Hiro and Suguru.

“Is there anything else doctor?” Suguru asked when the doctor didn’t leave.

The doctor gathered his thoughts and worriedly asked the two, “Has your friend Shuichi ever complained to any of you about Shoyu-san? About anything at all?”

Suguru just shook his head but Hiro said, “Well it’s not that he complained just...” He cut himself off, sighing and looking down.

“Just what?” The doctor prompted Hiro to continue.

Hiro again sighed and looked up at the doctor. “Just that he would avoid the subject whenever possible. Wouldn’t fully talk about it.” Curious now, Hiro asked, “ Why, is there something wrong?”

“Oh, nothing’s wrong. It’s just, we’ve been seeing a lot of Shuichi the last couple of months. In fact he came in this morning for his broken arm. I guess I’m just chasing rabbits.” The doctor shook his head lightly and put a smile on his face and turned to walk away down the hall.

Akuma got off on the third floor and turned to look for room 344 (remember what room Mika’s in? Check ch.2) Once he found it, Akuma turned and stepped into the doorway of Shuichi’s room. Standing there he looked Shuichi over and thought, ‘My poor Shu. If only he didn’t lie to me he wouldn’t be there.’

Akuma slowly walked into the room and whispered “It’s all your fault.” He brought a chair up to the side of Shuichi’s bed and sat down taking a hold of Shu’s hand. Bringing the hand up to his face, Akuma continued to whisper, “You’re so clumsy. Tripping and falling like you did. I told the doctors you got attacked. I don’t think they would have believed how clumsy you can be.”

* * *

Shuichi was in a room of darkness. He could only see as far as his hand in front of his face. Every so often, he could hear someone talking from somewhere. He didn’t know from where, it was kind of all over. Most of the time it was too distant to hear but this time he could here it nice and clear. Like he was on the phone and the voice was coming thru on the other end. It kept saying how clumsy he was and that it was his entire fault. ‘What did I do?’ Shuichi thought, unable to remember what happened.

The voice kept talking, putting Shuichi down and saying how stupid he was. He could feel his hand being held and didn’t like it. Shuichi wanted to pull away but couldn’t. He felt his hair being brushed back and prayed for it to stop. Then the hand tightened its grip and began to hurt. Shuichi screamed, “Leave me alone!”

Shuichi heard the voice say harshly, “What do I have to do to wake you up. You better not be thinking of ways to get away from me. After all, you belong to me!” Then the pressure on his hand was gone and so was the voice.

Shuichi sat down on the floor and began to cry, holding his hand gently in the other. Recognizing the voice as belonging to Akuma, Shuichi hugged himself and began to rock back in forth. ‘If I have to deal with that when I wake up I hope I never do.’ Shuichi thought, tears still falling down his face in anguish.

Akuma left the room and headed for the waiting room to meet back up with Hiro and Suguru and let them take their turn in seeing Shuichi. When he approached the corner to the waiting room he heard Hiro talking quietly to Suguru. “I’m telling you, Shuichi didn’t get attacked. Well, he did, but not the way they say. I really think that it was Akuma.” Hiro said getting frustrated in the middle of what he was saying.

Suguru sighed and shook his head. “Hiro, I don’t think that...”

“Suguru, listen to me!” Hiro cut him off and continued. “Think about it. Every time we asked Shu anything about it, what did he do?” Hiro asked, hushing his voice a little more.

Again Suguru sighed and lowered his head. “I understand what you’re saying Hiro, but...” Suguru lifted his head to continue but saw Akuma enter the room and went over to him. “How is he? Any change yet?”

Hiro dropped his head and inwardly sighed in frustration, wanting to scream. He then lifted his head and moved over to Akuma and Suguru.

Akuma shook his head, inwardly angry but outwardly looking upset. “Look, I’m going to go home and get some sleep. You guys can go in and see him before visiting hours are up.” Then he turned around and walked out. Akuma got in his car and punched the wheel, letting out his anger. ‘That bastard, how dare he blame this on me!’ Turning the car on, Akuma made his way home.

Shuichi had finally stopped crying and was huddled on the floor in the dark room within his mind. Suddenly he heard someone start to talk by his side.

“Hey Shu. Feeling any better?” Hiro sighed, scratching his head. “Come on man. You have to wake up.”

“Hiro, knock it off, that’s not helping him” Suguru said exasperatingly.

Shuichi stood up recognizing the two voices as his band mates. Shuichi wiped at his wet face and laughed a little. ‘They’re always fighting.’ Shuichi thought to himself.

Suguru got out a cd player he had brought with him and put in a cd. “We finally decided on which song to be our next single.” He said happily.

Confused, Hiro looked at Suguru and asked, “We did?” Suguru hit him over the head with his fist. “Ouch! Uh, yeah we did.” Hiro decided to agree to avoid another hit.

“Here, listen. It’s the first on our latest album, remember?” Suguru turned on the cd player while Hiro shut the door.

[ I cannot take this anymore
I\'m saying everything I\'ve said before
All these words they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Less I hear the less you\'ll say
But you\'ll find that out anyway
Just like before...

Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I\'m about to break
I need a little room to breathe ]

Shuichi listened to the song, remembering when he wrote it. Slowly, without knowing it, he started to drift off to sleep, thinking that it wouldn’t be too bad after all if he did wake up.

I t was the next morning and Yuki had put on a pair of dark blue jeans and a navy blue undershirt with a flimsy tan, unbuttoned, shirt on top. He grabbed the keys to his car from his dresser and walked out, locking the door behind him.

He needed to go to the hospital to visit Mika. ‘Damn, why did she need to pick the hospital that was closest to me for?’ Yuki thought as he started the engine on his car. He drove out and down the road.

Yuki pulled into the parking lot for visitors and walked inside. ‘I’d rather go out and try to run into Shuichi again. He never did call me last night. I hope nothing bad happened to him.’ Yuki thought as he started to worry about Shu.

Finally on the third floor, Yuki got out and walked over to room 342, (That’s right. Mika is right next door to Shuichi.) on the way he passed room 344. The door was slightly open and Yuki felt the need to look inside as he passed. When he looked over at the bed from the hall, Yuki stopped in the middle of the floor. His eyes grew large and his mouth opened in shock. Inside he saw a young man with pink hair and rushed to the bedside, knocking the door open.

“Shuichi? Shuichi! Please wake up, what happened to you?” Yuki quietly yelled. Without knowing, tears formed in the corners of his eyes. Yuki reached and took a hold of Shuichi’s hand and held it. Bringing it up to his lips, Yuki gently kissed Shu’s fingers as a tear slowly slid down his cheek.

Akuma got up for the day and put on a dark green shirt and khaki pants. He intended to visit Shuichi as soon as he got some breakfast. After making (I have no idea what Japanese eat for breakfast.) eggs and toast, he got on his shoes and grabbed his keys, heading for his car.

* * * *

Shuichi could hear a voice calling his name and strained to listen. “Shuichi, please. Open your eyes!” Shuichi knew that voice but couldn’t place it. He thought to himself, ‘Where have I heard it before?’

While Shuichi was thinking, he heard the person say more. “Shuichi it’s me, Yuki! Are you okay?” There was a tone of worry in Yuki’s voice.

Shuichi came out of his thoughts. “Yuki? Is that really you? I can’t believe you came to see me.” He asked, despite the fact that he couldn’t be heard. “It really means a lot to me.” Shuichi started to drift off to sleep again in that dark room he couldn’t get out of.

Yuki continued to watch Shuichi, hoping for a sign that he was alright. Not wanting to leave until he had one. Then unexpectedly, Yuki saw Shuichi turn his head to his left, facing Yuki. Shuichi started to move his lips but Yuki couldn’t hear what he was saying. He leaned in closer putting Shuichi’s lips right next to his ear.

Shuichi was mumbling, “Thank you Yuki.” as he fell into sleep once more.

Yuki, hearing this, smiled and leaned up just enough to kiss Shuichi softly on the lips.

Akuma walked through the corridors of the hospital and took the stair up to the third floor. Stepping out of the stairwell, Akuma made his way over to Shuichi’s room. Starting for the door way, he noticed someone in there. His eyes grew with fury as he saw this man kissing his Shuichi. Anger and jealousy boiled up in him. ‘How dare that blonde asshole lay a hand on what’s mine!’ Akuma thought maddening.

AN: Akuma is angry, again. Is it just me or does he have major mood swings? I think Yuki and Shu are starting to fall in love, hmm? *Grin* So....what did ya think? Like it? I gotta say, at first I didn’t like this chapter too much but I think, now that it’s done, that it’s pretty good. How bout you? Anyway sorry for the long wait. Like I said, I had trouble writing this chapter. Don’t worry, the next will come out soon. I’ll put all you people first. Who cares for college exams, their way too easy anyway. LOL!
