four: In dreams

AN: I apologize for not updating sooner. I get really sick around winter and got the flu mixed with bronchial pneumonia. So I slept, took time off of my crazy schedule and I am back. Feeling a bit better. I hope I don't get sick anymore but with the way the weather is I probably will. I feel bad about not updating so today I am posting a longer chapter. I will update as frequently as I can.

Chapter Four

Dark eyes, whispers. She was running away again. "No, please don't hurt me!" She screamed out the cold creating smoke from her voice. Her ears, feet and hands were numb. She was cold. Was she going to freeze to death. She was running in snow. "Please don't" She heard laughing. The faint laughing coming closer. THEY were getting closer.

"No where to run." A voice stated sounding animistic, human and yet demon like all at once. "Give in to us."

"No!" She cried out loud tears springing from her eyes. She fell in the snow and covered her face and pain laced through her back. They were dragging her. Then their was a siren very loud and The girl jumped as if she just woke up. She was outside of the hospital. She stood up shaking the dust off her pajamas.

"Are you okay?" Ami asked coming out of the hospital after checking on her mom. The girl had pink hair and the words of Rei came into her head. The girl looked disoriented. "I'm Dr. Mizuno." she said trying to be friendly.

"I'm Rini." The girl barely whispered.

Ami felt her mouth drop when Rini turned, there was blood on her back and it looked as if she had been slashed. "What happened." Rini looked away her face red. "You can tell me. I promise I'll believe you. We should get you in to see a doctor."

Rini wiped the tears off her face and suddenly looked strong for someone as young as she was. "I can't. You won't believe me. Not even my Dad does."

"It's nightmares about THEM isn't it." Ami asked.

That cough the girls attention. "What? How did you know about them?"

"There is another girl who has the nightmares too." Ami said sadly. "I am friends with her. I'm trying to make THEM go away."

"I wish you could help me." Rini said.

"I want to. But first let's get you into the hospital again." Ami said. Rini nodded and took Amis hand allowing the woman to lead her to the emergency room. "Mom, she is bleeding badly can you look at her."

Amanda nodded. "Follow me, we need to stop the bleeding."

Her father Mamoru wasn't very happy. His face was mixed with anxiety, relief, and frustration as he sat down by his sleeping daughter. "This isn't the first night she went outside in her sleep. I keep telling her their is nothing to be afraid of. Now I'm not so sure. Someone is hurting her."

Ami sighed leaning against the wall close by the door. "Maybe I could help. She told me she is having nightmares of Them. But she won't say who They are. I work with a teenager who is having the same experiences." Ami said.

Mamoru looked up shocked. "So does that mean that someone is out hurting our children and we can't do a thing?"

"Maybe I could convince her to talk. I'm a psychologist." Ami said.

Mamoru looked hopeful then frowned. "I don't have a lot of money."

"I don't ask a lot. In some circumstances I work for free. I love being able to help other people. It's the reason I got into this work." Ami said offering him a smile. "Would you like some coffee."

Mamoru nodded. "Yes please that would be nice."

Ami made her way to the kitchen her mind on Hotaru. What could scare these girls. She almost believed Rei about Them. But her scientific mind was now back in full swing. They must be some terrible people out to scare kids. She heard of the crazy things people did so maybe it was that. When she got the children to talk, she would make sure their predotors would be severly punished. She walked back in and handed Mamoru the cup of coffe. "Here."

As if on cue Rini woke up. "Hi Dad." she said softly. "They chased me."

Mamoru was tempted to yell at his daughter, somehow make her tell him who was hurting her. But that wouldn't do any good. He was her cherished daughter. "It's okay sweetheart. Do you remember Dr. Mizuno? She is going to try and help you."

"That's right." Ami said. "I have to leave now, but I will call you tomorrow to set up an appointment."

"Thank you Dr. Mizuno." Mamoru said looking truly grateful. He wrote his number down and handed it to her. "I look forward to your call."

Ami got home late that night extreamly tired. She had finally met whom the priestess said she would meet. She rolled over. "It has to be a coincidence." Her eyelids began to droop down.

A noise woke her up. It sounded like a lamp breaking. She instictivly picked up the phone to dial the police, there was definatly something in her living room. The phone held no dial tone, instead it was fuzzing, the sound reminding Ami of a channel you couldn't get in. She slammed the phone down and stood up walking towards her closet. She opened finding her gun that was on the top shelf. It wasn't loaded but it would probably scare off her intruders. She pulled on a rob and slowly picking up her gun, she opened the door.

A foul stench greeted her. It was an awful smell. It was like the smell of an animal who came in after the rain, a body decomposing, and burning flesh all mixed in. Ami had to breath out of her mouth. Her heart suddenly started beating fast. Her insticts told her to run. Then she heard it.

"Come to us." A voice growled like a inhuman demonic-beast yet with a human touch to it.

She backed and tripped her hand smashing on top of the very hot heating vent. The pain jarred her. She looked around to see a lamp broken. The stench wasn't in the room anymore. She frowned standing up. It reminded her of the movie she had once seen in high school. Friday the thirteenth. Except it was a person hunting people down. This.......it was a monster. Her scientific mind screamed out to her that it wasn't real. She couldn't stay here not after a dream like that. So she got dressed and decided to head to the hospital.

End.
