The Petalburg Gym
Nighttime had fallen by the time they had showed up. There weren’t many trainers at the PokéCentre tonight, but May brought them over to where the gym was so David would not have to use some of his money to rent the rooms.

“David, I was meaning to ask you, but how is it that your PokéMon can speak our language?”
“Weird healing Potion I bought near Indigo Plateau gave them the ability to speak human.”
“If the teams are ready, then commence the battle!” The referee declared.
“Vigoroth, Slaking, double Take Down!”

“Dodge and counter boys!”
Axl and Zero jumped to avoid the attacks, as Axl stormed down with a Blaze Kick, while Zero attacked with Metal Claw. The two PokéMon were hit, but Slaking attacked with Façade, and dealt damage to Zero while Vigoroth unleashed a storm of Fury Swipes.
“Zero, prepare yourself! Axl, provide cover for Zero!”
Zero leapt high into the air landed just on the edge of the field and held out his clawed pincers and opened them. In them, two balls of energy began to collect; one was ice elemental, the other was electrical, while a third sphere of energy formed just above his head brimming with flames.
Vigoroth noticed this and was charging towards Zero, but Axl did his job and blocked the path by lashing out with a Flame Wheel attack.
“Slaking! Break through Axl’s defense!”

“Axl, retreat back! Zero! Tri-Attack!”

“End it Axl! Nova Strike!”
Axl nodded as he was engulfed in a fiery aura. He jumped into the air before he shot off like a fireball, and collided with Vigoroth. The force of the impact knocked him out of the field and crashed into the wall behind Norman. It was KO’d.
“Vigoroth and Slaking are unable to continue the battle! The winner of this match is David and his team!”
David smirked and the students cheered for the winner, as Normal recalled his two PokéMon. He walked over to David and held out his prize of the match.
“That was very impressive in that match David. I have never seen a PokéMon be able to use such powerful moves as that, and still have the ability of teamwork instilled throughout. It shows me just how strong a bond you share with your PokéMon, your best friends, and I award you the Balance Badge.”

“I heard of Team Aqua, and Team Magma. After the events of Groundon and Kyogre being awakened, you went to Sky Pillar and were able to find the emerald PokéMon Rayquazar, and prevented the two ancients in Sootopolis from commencing in a titanic battle of titans. The team leaders returned the two orbs which kept them in slumber, nature at a balance, and them the two teams disappeared and/or disbanded.”
“You know history do you?”
“Well yeah, that and I always read the newspaper for such world-lining events.”
They reached the woods, and looked at the dark entrance. May and Brendan held each other’s hands, and David stood real close to Maya. David had to recall his team back to their Pokéball except Zero and Maya, and the foursome entered the dark woods, unaware of a pair of crimson eyes following them.
