Chapter five:" Take her for Yourself"

D sat down on the bed in the inn he decided to stay one more night in. He sighed, having already leaned his sword against the wall and his cloak drapped over a chair.

" What would Jedah Doma want with Sabriel?" The entity in his palm asked.

" Can't say. Perhaps he is after her blood." D mused.

" Maybe he loved the girl's mother." Lefty thought.

" No. Demons are utterly incapable of love. Doma above all can't possibly love." D explained. Standing from the bed, he walked to an open window and stared out of it." But. I intend to find out all my answers from Demitri tomorrow."

" What about Sabriel? If you love her will you tell her?" The face asked.D did not answer the stared up at the full moon, removing his hat, he set it on dresser and folded his hands behind his back. He blinked once. And remembered walking her back home before retreating to the inn for a last night.

" Go to her, D. Make love to her. Take her for yourself." The face suggested.

" Take her?" D poundered this for a moment. He looked at his drapped cloak and quickly walked over to it and swept it around his shoulders. Grabbed his hat, sword and walked out the room.

He iggnored all the men in the tavern, and left out the doors. Outside was quiet. Like the night before. Just the way D liked it. The face had disappeared, leaving D's regular palm in it's place.

With his brown eyes he glanced around the dark quiet little town. He remembered exactly where Sabriel's house was. It was a small blue painted house with a white picket fence and a garden of tulips around the sides of the front door. He stood outside her house and took in a deep breath. He closed his eyes. When he opened them again he walked forward and gently knocked on the door.

To his surprise a little boy opened the door. He stared up at D with curiousity." Hello." D started.

" Hi." The child said quickly.

" Is Sabriel home?" D asked slowly.

The little boy stared at him, just as Sabriel's sister. Barbara came to the boy.She saw D and glared," What do you want?"

" I want to speak to Sabriel thats all." He said calmly.

" She's in the kitchen cleaning up from dinner. Come on in." Barbara said and let D in.

D said nothing as he was lead to the kitchen by the little boy. Who spoke outloud to Sabriel, who was busy cleaning some dishes." Aunt, Sabriel." He called.

Sabriel turned from the dishes and smiled upon seeing D. The little boy took off. Passed D. Who nearly sighed with relief, that Sabriel was just the boy's aunt.

" D. I was not expecting you. " She said cheerfully.

"Forgive me for not sending word that I was coming to see you." D said.

" Are you hungry?" Sabriel asked. Approaching D, she took his hand in her's.

" If is not much trouble for you....I am somewhat." D said softly, touching her face slowly.

" Then please take a seat," she said and took up a clean plate as D did as requested. He removed his hat and set it next to him on the table. And slid his fingers through his long dark brown, slightly wavy hair.

" So I thought you left." Sabriel started. Setting down a plate of roast beef and mashed potatoes infront of him.

" I'm leaving tomorrow actaully. I wanted to see you again." D explained. Sabriel smiled and sat next to him as he ate. D noted to himself that she was dressed in something different again.

This was a blue slik corset gown, that went all the way to the floor. Her hair was hanging down at her back. The girl seemed to have stood and finished with some chores in the kitchen before he'd finished the dinner she'd given him." Thank you." He said and handed her the plate.

" No big deal, D. Now them. How about we go upstairs,or go anywhere else but the kitchen." She said and blushed slightly.

" Upstairs is fine. I want to speak to you in privacy, away from prying ears." As he finished he glanced back at the little boy, who spied. His little eyes widened and he took off. At this, D smirked slightly. As he stood and followed Sabriel up the wooden stairs and down a hallway, which lead into her bedroom.

" Go ahead and make yourself at home D." She said, closing the bedroom door behind D and herself. D looked around. There was a largish bed with a big quilt on it and one pillow. Feet from the bed was a desk and window. In the other side of the room was a small vanity table with a mirror. Then there was her closet of course and a shelf with books. On the wall above her bed was a painting of her parents.

As D glanced at it, he asked Sabriel." If your mother died when you were born, how is Barbara your sister?"

" Thats easy, she is my big sister. Her father was a man who raped my mother." She explained." go ahead and sit on the bed." She motioned for him to sit. So he did. Her bed was very comfortable.

Sabriel walked around for a moment, searching for something in a drawer in her vanity table.D spoke to her." Why do you not want me to stay here?" He asked.

" Because people here fear what they do not understand, that in turn leads to hate. I do not want you to have to endure it." She explained. Pulling out a ring that hung on a necklace chain.

She approached him and held it out to him." Here a small parting gift." She offered.

D stared at her then at the necklace." Your mother's wedding ring." he mused." Why would you give me this?" He asked.

Sabriel smiled and knelt down beside him at the end of the bed." Because D.....it is a gift. I do not need a reason." She whispered.

D smiled gently and accepted the necklace in turn he removed his the blue pendant from around his neck and gingerly dropped it her hands." Thank you." He said and placed the necklace around his neck. Sabriel smiled and held it tightly in her hands.

D stared at the woman then cupped her chin tilted it so she stared up at him." Sabriel what I ask of you tonight. I ask because of my true feelings." He started. Sabriel said nothing and stood up. He continued," I want to take you to bed." He whispered.( Out of D's character? Don't care!)
