Summary: Between two lies, you'll find the truth

The Truth Between
For years they’ve watched and studied, always circling each other in an awkwardly graceful dance. One will step forward just as the other takes two step back. On and on it went until, finally, they became in sync enough to meet in the middle. Now they sit beside each other, two striking figures in matching uniforms. One, tall and serious; the other, slightly shorter and smiling.
A companionable silence surrounds them as they eat lunch together on the rooftop. Once in awhile, the shorter one will murmur, “Try this, Tezuka.” And slip something into the bento of the other and Tezuka will glance at in distrust, cast a look at his friend, and pop the tidbit into his mouth. Then he’ll grimace in distaste and mutter, “Damn it, Fuji.” while his laughing companion hands him a glass of milk.
They seem like good friends, close and comfortable with each other and on the surface that is the case, but, if you look closely, you’ll notice they sit closer than necessary, shoulders and thighs nearly touching. Their hands always finding a reason to brush together, to touch the other in some way. Their eyes will meet and small, almost shy smiles will cross their lips.
You’ll see the way Fuji will take the glass back, turn it so that he now drinking from the same spot as Tezuka…a secret kiss. Blue eyes will be open all the while, locked on golden brown until Tezuka will look away with a deep blush. He’ll turn back to his bento, giving it more attention than it warrants but he’ll close the small distance between them until they are finally touching.
