Torn

Sage woke to the light shining into his eyes the next morning. He groaned and stretched. He sat up when he felt that Ryo hadn't come back. He got up and went to Jennifer's room and saw them both fast asleep on the balcony. He chuckled softly and softly walked over to them. He shook Ryo awake. "Sage?" he asked then noticed it was morning. He sheepishly looked over to Sage."Gomene Koi. I guess I fell asleep listening to Jennifer singing." he said rubbing the back of his head. Sage shrugged. "It's alright.I take it she had a nightmare." he said. Ryo nodded."She did.You know how I was with nightmares.She'll have them for awhile that's for sure.We need to do something call Anubus.Maybe he knows something." Ryo said standing up and stretching his aching limbs.
He walked over to where Jennifer laid on the lounge chair and gently shook her awake.She opened her eyes and saw that it was morning. "I fell alseep?" she asked. Ryo chuckled."Yeah and out here.Don't worry I did too. Come on Let's go inside and change and go eat." He said as he walked out off the balcony to his own room. Jennifer raised an eyebrow. She turned to Sage "Is he always like this in the mornings?" she asked him. Sage chuckled again and shook his head."Not normally.What did you say to him last night?" he asked. "Nothing.Wait...I did say I would make my famous coffee in the morning." she said. Sage groaned. "You had to tell him that. He loves good coffee. Not to dis Mia or anything but her coffee tastes like mud." He said. Jennifer shrugged and walked to the closet where Mia had gotten her new clothes last night.She walked to the bathroom and changed into a long sleeve crimson shirt and blue jeans. When she returned to her room she saw Sage still on the balcony. She walked over to him and put her chin on his shoulder. Sage looked at her in the corner of his eye. "Are you...mad at me Jennifer?" he asked softly. "Why would I be angry with you?" she asked. Sage sighed and turned to face her. " I broke my promise to keep in contact with you and I wasn't there when you were in trouble." he said. Jennifer sighed."It's not your fault Sage,it was also my fault I didn't tell you my address or write to you and you had no way of knowing what was going on." she said. "Still I should have known I mean we all did that blood brother thing." he said. Jennifer laughed.
" Sage, we were what 7 when we did that? It wasn't to alert each other when the other was in danger, it just made us almost blood relatives. I don't blame you." she said hugging Sage as tight as she could.Sage returned the hug."I make this promise Jennifer, I will right this wrong done to you. Ryo is right behind me too." he whispered. "You don't have to Sage, I don't want either of you injured because of me." she said.
"It's what we do Jennifer. We put our life on the line for other people." he said. Jennifer sighed again and pulled out of the embrace. "I-I can't lose you to Sage,your the only family I have left." she said softly. Sage lifted her head and made her look him in the eye. " You have Ryo too,as well as the other ronin Warriors if anything happens to me." he said. "I just not comfortable around the others yet, Ryo,yea, but the others not so much." she said.
"Don't worry you will." He said placing a kiss on her temple then left her alone for a moment. She watched him go and walked downstairs.
