Chapter 4
Lelouch stayed motionless for several minutes before he stood, his eyes looking as dead as they had when Suzaku had first arrived on campus.
"Where are you going, Lelouch?" Suzaku asked.
"Out for a walk," came the almost dead sounding reply.
"Do you want me to come with you? What if whoever's responsible for this is watching the school? He already knows who you are."
"I'll be fine."
"But..."
When Lelouch looked up at him, Suzaku was shocked at the burning anger in the former Prince's eyes.
"I said I'll be fine!"
"Okay, okay. I'm not going to force you to let me go with you," Suzaku conceded, holding his hands up in surrender. He was suddenly feeling even more worried about his friend.
Shooting Suzaku one last glare, Lelouch walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Sighing, Suzaku stood and followed behind Lelouch anyway. Lelouch might have said that he didn't want company, but that didn't mean the threat against him was any less.
I'll follow him just far enough that he won't really notice me. I'm worried about him.
As he followed Lelouch, Suzaku momentarily lost him before spotting him heading for the roof.
Maybe he's going up there to think. It's certainly secluded enough that he can be alone. Then again, with how he's been acting lately, leaving him alone might not be a very good idea, he thought as he headed into the school to the access door to the roof.
The afternoon sun was shining, the light playing over Lelouch's raven locks when Suzaku arrived on the roof. Just watching him from afar, Suzaku couldn't get over how beautiful Lelouch looked at that moment.
Where'd that come from? He's my best friend, that's all. Then again, why do I feel like I'm in denial or something?
Unable to stop himself, he found himself approaching the former prince and wrapping him in a hug from behind. Lelouch looked momentarily surprised before leaning back in the embrace.
"S-suzaku..." he murmured almost brokenly.
"Sshh...I know, Lelouch. I know. I miss her, too. She was like the little sister I never had," Suzaku murmured back, his voice almost a whisper. After a few moments, he backed away from the side of the roof, taking Lelouch with him.
"Suzaku?" Lelouch asked uncertainly, turning around in Suzaku's arms, looking up at him. Suzaku couldn't help the sympathetic expression as he saw several emotions play across the other's face.
"Hush now, and try to forget about it for now. You need a break from it all, even if it's just for a few minutes," Suzaku murmured, his face very close to Lelouch's.
Kissably close, ran through Lelouch's mind, though he was wondering where the thought came from in the next moment.
As if reading his mind and acting as if he decided to act before he could change his mind, Suzaku captured Lelouch's lips in a chaste kiss, his eyes sliding closed. It was all he could think of to get Lelouch's mind off of Nunnally's death. Besides, deep down, he'd wanted this. Feeling Lelouch's arms wrap around his next as he relaxed into the kiss, he knew the feeling was mutual.
At the moment, neither one wanted this to end.

A/N: Finally! A kiss! And it took me awhile to figure out how to add the yaoi elements to this story, since Lelouch doesn't seem to want to be in the mood and Suzaku doesn't want to take advantage. Things'll probably start to heat up from here. So, yes, I'm eventually going to get around to the sex. ^^;
