Chapter 05
Krayon looked over the small house, it wasn’t very large but not exactly the poorest and shabbiest one on the block, oddly enough it looked really familiar to him. Walking over to the door he knocked five times before standing to wait for an answer. It didn’t take long though.
“Hey, Krayon,” Erutis greeted with a grin, “Sorry, I’m just finishing putting some stuff away in the kitchen, please come in though, I’ll be ready in a minute, okay?”
“That’s fine,” Krayon nodded as he stepped inside to wait and Erutis hurried back to the kitchen to what looked like unreasonably dirty dishes.
“That’s right?”
“No, see, even if it’s caved in here, these sides all together are the same number as the other side.”
Krayon peeked over into the living room where he had thought he’d heard Eclipse’s voice. He had, and he was with the blondie from the mall! Looked like they were going over some of the kids school stuff. Area of a given area, yeah those had given him trouble too at times.
Eclipse looked up and noticed him; Krayon only waved with a grin to his friend. Now he knew why this place seemed familiar, he had come here to drag Eclipse out to the party that time, he hadn’t really noticed the other boy, Raenef until the time in the mall. Even then he didn’t know it was the same that accompanied him and Eclipse on that Friday.
“Here, you can do these, I’ll check on you in a moment, all right?” Eclipse asked handing the younger boy the work sheet. He nodded and started in on them and Eclipse stood and walked over to Krayon.
“I just came over for Erutis, there’s no problems at the moment,” Krayon told him sheepishly, almost embarrassed he had made his friend get up because he thought he was here for him, then all the sudden being there for Erutis seemed a lot like cheating…
But they weren’t actually dating or anything!
Him and Eclipse…
“I didn’t know you were dating someone,” Eclipse stated simply looking back at his friend, “is she nice? You like her?”
“Yes,” Krayon answered simply.
“That’s good,” Eclipse nodded.
“You’re okay with it then?” Krayon asked him.
“Aren’t you?” Eclipse returned. “We’re friends, we agreed on that.”
“Yeah,” Krayon nodded glancing back into the family room where Raenef sat solving the last of the problems Eclipse had given him. “So how are things with you and blondie?”
“That isn’t really your business now is it,” Eclipse returned.
“Eclipse, I’m done,” Raenef said looking up from his worksheet. Eclipse returned to check his work and instruct further. Krayon grinned, it wasn’t very apparent to anyone at first but if they looked close enough at Eclipse he was a bit more disgruntled around the boy. Perhaps that had been a little mean to ask his friend about Raenef.
Erutis returned and the two left.
Eclipse groaned inwardly as the door shut behind Erutis and Krayon. He really had to think of something to do about his crush on Raenef. He was already with a boy, his own age… stupid ‘Chris’…
And it would be so LOW to even TRY to take advantage of his position as the boy’s tutor. Becoming his tutor again didn’t so much help to appease his wants either, it almost made them worse. But either way he still went to sleep every night with Raenef on his mind and every day no matter what he was doing the blonde boy always seemed to pop into his head somewhere.
`
“It’s not my fault we chose the same thing to do for PE creds, or are you just cranky ‘cause Raenef has his tutor today?”
Chris glared at his track partner, Leeche, the once bane of his life. He only huffed at her and turned away. They were the only ones in the school that had the PE credits for track. Normally Raenef would be there to cheer them on when they ran but tonight he had Eclipse tutoring him all night. He’d see him tomorrow sure, but still.
There was that and lately their relationship just felt incomplete some of the time. They had fun and touching him was way more fun than anything he’d ever thought about but still something was still lacking. Maybe he was just in need of growing up. That or Raenef needed to grow some hormones too!
“Which reminds me, how are things with Raenef?” Leeche asked as they took up their places on the track, Chris counted down from three for them and they took off. They always practiced together so they both had around the same speed ratio without a whole lot of different variations.
“We’ve been doing fine to answer your question,” Chris answered her somewhat irritably.
“Hey, why are you being so mean?” she asked, hurt, “If you’re still paranoid that I’m going to try and steal Raenef away from you, I’m not! You’ve been so weird lately.”
Their sprint stopped and they paused to catch their breaths, though it only took a few seconds. “I just want my friend back, Chris. Okay?”
“Sure, whatever,” Chris shrugged as he started back for the locker rooms. “That’s it for me, I’m going home.”
Leeche followed to the girls locker room and Chris to the boys. They met up afterwards to walk home, but Chris had to get some stuff from his locker upstairs.
They had been heading back downstairs, and hadn’t known anyone else was there when one of the journalist attendants ran by knocking into Leeche who barreled into Chris as they tumbled down the stairs. The boy paused to watch them surprised and worried; though more for himself than the two he’d knocked accidentally down the stairs.
“What is your problem?” Chris yelled up at him.
“Sorry about that,” he called to them running off fairly fast.
“Geez, the nerve of that guy,” Chris growled, not noticing Leeche’s faint blush at their current position with her straddling him. She got off fairly quickly, though not soon enough for Chris to not completely notice what they had been sitting as.
“Stupid jerk! Watch where you’re going next time!” she yelled up after the boy for good measure. Chris got up too, and for a few moments they both fell silent and didn’t move.
The halls may as well have been empty, you couldn’t even hear the guy who had been there previously running through the halls.
It was sort of uncomfortable unnerving even. Chris squirmed slightly, feeling like he should say, ‘something’, to break the uneasy silence.
“I was never jealous,” Leeche said quietly before he could speak, she looked back at him her eyes slightly teary. “I was never jealous of you, for having Raenef.”
She looked sad and Chris could only watch her with wide eyes, Leeche never acted like this, she was usually loud and obnoxious and when she was sad, she bawled and was still really loud, but now, it was far different. She was crying. He didn’t know what to do. If he hugged her, would that be al right? If he kissed away her tears, would that be all right? And why was he even thinking about that?
“But,” she started again smiling sheepishly, still watching him sadly, “I was always jealous of Raenef… for having you, Chris…”
