Boarding School Chapter 5

-

Recap

“… So you’re the chick that will be here. I must warn you, a lot of guys will go after you,” Zach said.

“Why aren’t you?” Serena asked.

“I have a girlfriend. We have been together for about two years,” he said. “She goes to the all girl school across town.”

“That’s cool,” said Serena. “Why don’t you tell me about yourself?”

“Well…”

-

“My parents wanted me to come here for an education. This is one of the top schools in England and of course they sent me here. I live here on campus through out the week and go home on the weekends, like many of the guys here. I live on the other side on the city. Do you know how large this city is?” he asked.

Serena nodded. “This city is pretty big. So, I also hear that if this policy passes they will allow guys at the girls’ school too”

“Yeah and most likely I will be affected by it because of where I live, but I don’t really want to change schools. A reason they may not have guys go there is that the other school needs to fit boys and girls. This school already has the needs, because the girl school was built after this one, so girls came here before they built that school,” Zach explained.

“I think that is why my dad brought me out here to see if girls can adapt again,” Serena said looking ahead as they walked around the hallway.

“Yeah, that’s what I heard.” Zach smiled at Serena.

Serena smiled back. “I really didn’t want to come here because I don’t know anyone,” she lied.

“Well, now you know me, and I could introduce you to my friends.” He noticed Serena looked shocked to hear that. “The good thing is that you won’t be alone with a bunch of guys. My girlfriend and her friends will hang out too. If you want to, do you want to hang out with us?” he asked.

“Umm… That would be nice since I don’t have anything to do since it is a Friday,” Serena said.

“Okay, so let me tell the guys at lunch and if you stay here for lunch, I could introduce you to them,” Zach said back to Serena

“Fun!”

After a few hours of showing Serena around the school, Zach knew it was close to lunch time, because his stomach growled. He covered his stomach and laughed.

“Let me guess, lunch time?” she asked with a smile.

“Yeah, might as well meet in the area where the guys and I hang out,” he said.

“What do you do for lunch then?” Serena asked.

“Usually one of the guys gets our food from then lunch room and they drive to get it,” he said leading Serena towards the back of the school. “If you need some food, the guys will let you have some.”

“Oh…okay.” Serena looked straight ahead while walking beside Zach. She really didn’t know what to say. She was going to meet four other guys and knowing guys at this age, they are walking hormones. Zach led Serena around the corner, and she saw three guys talking amongst themselves about who knows what.

One of them turned his head towards Zach and Serena. “Hey Zach!” he yelled making the other two turn their heads.

“Hey guys!” Zach and Serena walked up to the group. Serena was feeling a bit shy.

“Well, what do we have here?” Serena looked at the blonde guy who talked. “Got yourself another girl? If she isn’t yours, then I will take her.” The guys smirked.

“Back off Jed. She is off limits for now and besides I have a girlfriend,” Zach said making Jed have a dumb-stuck look. Zach turned to Serena. “Sorry about that. He is well… just call him a player. He can’t have a steady girlfriend.” Jed grew angry and Serena giggled. “Guys, let me introduce you to Serena. She will be attending our school, she is the one girl I told you about,” Zach said.

“Nice to meet you all,” Serena said.

“Serena, that is Mathew Adams with the silver hair, Nathan White is the brunette standing next to him and the one who made that stupid remark to you earlier is Jed Miller,” Zach said starting to sit down on the ground.

Serena started to feel unsure about meeting the guys but if she had to meet new people, she had to get over these feelings of being scared. She walked and sat on a planter area but not to close to the guys. Unknown to them, a guy came up with five trays, stacked up on one another in the guy’s hands.

“Hey losers, get your lunches from me,” he said.

“Oh, Dare! You’re back. I didn’t see you come,” Jed said walking up to him to grab some of the trays.

“I wonder why,” Darien said sarcastically. He walked past Jed and saw a girl sitting down. “Now I know why.” Darien smirked.

Serena was looking down at her hands twiddling her thumbs. She heard another voice and looked up. ‘That is the guy I saw through my window,’ she thought. ‘I can’t believe I’m seeing him again.’

Darien smirked at the girl looking at him. He handed all of the trays all of the trays over to Jed who protested and walked over to her. “Hello. My name is Darien Shields and you are?” he asked as he lifted his hand to shake hers.

Serena looked at him and placed her hand in his. “I am Serena Williams,” she said.

He lifted her hand and kissed the back of it. “I am honored to meet you.”

“Like wise.” She smiled at him and with that smile, he smiled back.

“What’s a beauty like you doing at this school?” Darien asked.

Unknown to them, Serena’s father was standing there. He saw the scene where his daughter being introduced to Darien. He really didn’t despise him; it was the fact that he got into so much trouble. He cleared his throat catching the attention if the teens. He saw them look and saw his daughter go pale.

Serena went pale and quickly took her hand from Darien’s. “Daddy!” she said.

“Daddy?” Darien asked. He was confused but when he saw the Dean he figured it out.

“Guys, nice to meet you, but I have to leave,” she said quickly and walk/ran to her waiting father. Kenneth turned and put his right arm around her guiding her away from the boys until they were out of sight.

“What was that about?” Nate asked confused. “And what did she mean by ‘daddy’?”

“That man is her father,” Darien said silently and sat down.

“So Zach… that is what you meant by she is off limits,” Jed said.

“Yeah, she is the Dean’s daughter. Knowing him he might expel us or something,” Zach said.

“It makes it even better to have her,” Darien said.

“So like you to think of that my pal,” Matt said. He patted Darien on the shoulder smiling.

Darien smirked back.

“Don’t try anything with her, she will most likely hang out with us,” Zach said.

“What do you mean by that?” Matt asked.

“I invited her to hang with us and the girls tonight, so that she wouldn’t be bored or not have anyone to hang out with,” Zach explained. “Everyone okay with that?”

Everyone nodded.

“I am going to have some fun tonight,” Darien said smirking.

Zach sighed, “There he goes again.”

-

Serena looked over at her father then looked down at her feet. All she did was sit there quietly in the chair in front of her father’s large desk.

“Serena.” She looked up with her blue eyes at her dad.

Kenneth looked at his daughter. “Serena, I don’t want you to hang out with any of the guys here.”

“Why?” Serena raised her voice. “Daddy, I won’t have anyone to hang out with at this school. I met people I could hang with, and they also have girl friends they thought I could get along with. Please daddy, I really want friends out here since all of my friends are back in New York.” Serena looked straight into her father’s eyes.

Kenneth started to smile, which really confused Serena. “I thought you were going to say that. I trust Zachary enough that he will be friends with you. I began to tolerate the others except Darien Shields. He is a bright man but chooses the wrong way of his life. I really don’t trust him so beware. I trust you enough to make the right decisions,” Kenneth said.

Serena went into a wide smile and ran behind the desk where her father was, to give him a big hug. She felt him hug her back. “Thank you, Daddy,” she said.

“You’re welcome. And about wanting to hang out with them, you can tonight, but you have to be home by 1:00,” he said with his fatherly tone.

“Thank you!” She gave him a big squeeze again and let go. “May I go home now?”

“Yes, you may. I think you got enough of this school for now,” he said “Besides your sister gets home soon and Ilene is working late tonight so she will need you there until I get home.”

“Okay.” She kisses his cheek. “Bye Daddy.” She walked around the desk to get to the door. She opened the door and let herself out. She walked through the small area hallway where the secretary sat and a bunch of chairs which sat along the brown wall that had a lot of bulletins postings on it.

She continued to walk her way to the doors she entered earlier that day. The halls were very quiet. Only a few boys were at their lockers. When she wasn’t paying attention, she ran into a hard chest. “Opps I am so…” She looked up into the face of no other than Darien Shields.

“I guess we meet again,” he said with a smile.

“Uhh umm… yeah.” She didn’t know what to say.

“I am glad I bumped into you. Zach was going to look for you after our lunch hour to tell you the information on where to meet us,” Darien said walking to lean on the lockers behind him.

“Okay. What are the plans?” she asked.

“He said just to meet at the front of the school and someone would be there to pick you up around 6:00,” he said.

“Okay, but thought I would tell you. My dad said it was okay to hang out with everyone, but he said I have to beware of you. I don’t know why; you seem like a nice enough guy,” Serena said factly. She watches as Darien got up from leaning and started to walk behind her.

Darien leaded in. “You should be,” he whispered into her ear.

Serena just couldn’t breathe when he said that. She felt him pull away and she turned her head to stare at him.

“See you later tonight.” He winked and turned his body away from her walking in the opposite direction.

Serena watched him walk away. ‘He is so cute. Whoa, where did that come from? I have to trust my dad about what he said about him,’ she thought. She continued on her way home.

Once she got there, she heard a TV going on in the living family room. She walked through the archway into the room and saw her sister watching TV.

“Hotaru?” She looked at Serena.

“Want to have sister time before I leave later?”

“Yah!” Hotaru said all happily.

They hung out until their father came home.
