Kiss the Rain

A/N: Shoot me if I ever leave you guys this long again.

Chapter 6

~oOo~ Story ~oOo~

My hands were between my knees as I clenched my legs together in an irritated way. I was sitting on my soft bed trying to ignore the pain that shot up my back from making love in such a way for the first time. I was too irritated to lay on my stomach and let the soreness subside. I tapped my foot trying my best not to join my lover outside and lecture Kiki on the concept of knocking. I understand that he only wanted to protect me but I just couldn’t stand how my first time was intruded on in such a way. I could scream if it didn’t bring back fresh memories of a little boy coming in on something he shouldn’t have. So I resorted to listening while calming myself down. The two were butting heads, trying to get their points across like a couple of mountain goats. When it seemed that they wouldn’t stop any time soon, I gave an exasperated sigh and flopped over and rolled onto my stomach. Even though I was a gold saint having internal damage the way I do, it still hurt. I reached back a hand and rubbed the small of my back and hip with my face buried in a pillow. I could feel my hair pool around me as my fingers tried desperately to get rid of what felt like a constant cramp. When it wouldn’t go away it was clear what I could only do until my ever lasting patience snapped; I waited face down until I could hear the argument go away. Aaand it wasn’t, soon enough I felt someone familiar enter my home along with two others. Quickly there were five different voices going, no doubt Shiryu trying to understand the situation clearly like the level headed man he is. Shunrei it seemed was trying to calm down Dohko who was yelling loud enough to give me a head ache, guess he didn’t approve. I felt a smirk from the knowledge that I had Sion now and not him. I grabbed another pillow and pulled it tightly over the top of my head so that it was hard to breath. I can’t believe I just thought that. What am I? A jealous school girl after a prize?! NO! I’m Aries of Mu, I’m a gold saint of Athena that’s had a horrible love for his master since hormones were invented in my body. I removed the pillow, I had someone to see and a squabble to stop.

Standing up, I held a pillow tightly in my hand and stormed to my door. I took a deep breath. I had a hard time dealing with Dohko ever since he had become young once more, now it was time to confront my fears. At that moment I heard the china man shout, “He’s to young! He doesn’t know what he wants!” I frowned and fluffed my pillow between two hands as if cocking a shotgun. It seemed I also had to show that I was serious. I grabbed the knob of my door and wrenched it open only to find everyone just outside of my door. No wonder it was so loud.

“And I’m telling you to back down Dohko!” Sion snarled at the smaller saint.

“Mu-sama deserves better than any of you!” Kiki declared.

Shunrei had a hold of Dohko’s wrist on one side as Shiryu held his mentor by the shoulders, obviously their pleading was getting them no where. “Ryoushi, please calm down!”

“You’re mine and you can’t face it!” the brunet snapped.

I took a calming breath, nice and deep before bellowing out, “SI~LE~~NCE!!!”

Everyone stopped and looked at me with my death grip on my pillow. I gave my best intimidating look, which seemed to work considering the three youngest immediately shied away. At least someone respects me around here.

“Now then, it would seem that we have some things to clear up.” I stated making eye contact with each and everyone of them, “Let’s start with Kiki.”

“Y-Yes, Mu-sama?” he nearly choked on his own words.

“Come here.”

He did as I asked. I handed my pillow to him, my expression not changing as I rested a hand on his head, “I know you are worried, but please give me at least a little respect in the fact I can protect myself. Do not leave we shall speak about this in more detail later.”

“Yes Mu-sama.”

“Sion!”

His purple eyes blinked at me in a way that just made me want to walk over to him and kiss his breath away, but at the moment I had to be stern not soft. I watched him carefully before speaking, “Would you please take the honors and explain to our friends what had happened?”

He smiled and relaxed and quickly gave a very little detailed description of what had happened from the time we discovered our feelings for each other to the current moment. I was glad he kept it under five minutes because my backside was hurting very badly from just standing. I kept my eyes on Dohko who seemed to seethe at the very idea of my love actually holding me. Once Sion was done, he reached over to take my hand but before he could touch my skin his wrist was grabbed by his ex-boyfriend.

“I advise you let go,” Sion’s eyes narrowed on the man. “I’ve made my decision and you must abide by it.”

“Why can’t you see?” the anger in his eyes was prominent as well as his sorrow of realizing he would never hold my ex-mentor again, never be able to kiss him, nor sooth his woes never in again in the way that he so desperately wanted. I made a mental note to talk to him one on one but at the moment I was not about to allow a full fledged battle erupt in my own home and by the building of their cosmos it was going to happen soon.

“Shiryu, Shunrei, please forgive me for what you are about to see,” I spoke calmly closing my eyes. I reached back and grabbed a white knuckled fist full of softness that was the pillow that I had Kiki hold.

“No, Mu-sama, not the pillow,” the boy pleaded softly.

I didn’t reply to him. All I did was whip the pillow forward and administer punishment to the short man that was currently threatening what I considered my family. By the sounds of it, as I managed to nearly knock him unconscious with the fluffy item, he had never had experienced something as unique as this. And as I continued to assault him with my bedding I couldn’t help but think how much stronger Kiki was considering the boy was used to this sort of punishment when he really had crossed the line, which by his own luck had only been four times. The kitchen incident was the last time so far.

“And don’t touch my Sion like that again!” I found myself shouting as I grabbed the pillow with two hands and swung it like a baseball bat. It hit the Libra saint right in the stomach knocking him up into the air and over the side of the railing of my home. He landed on his feet and I watched him with dark eyes, cocking my pillow once more. His own green gaze was bright and large with surprise as he coughed air back in his lungs. I gave a simple ‘humph’ before sharply turning on my heels and walking back into the warmth of my home. Shiryu and Shunrei already running down to their mentor’s aid.

Now that the three of us were once again alone, I walked up to my apprentice and knelt down. I patted him on the head and smiled softly, “Thank you for trying to protect me, but please know that I really love Sion-sama. At least try to give him a chance, for me.”

The boy stayed still before slowly giving me a hug around my neck. I wrapped my arms around the youth and lifted him up. Sion could only watch me with surprise and when I stepped close to him he eyed the pillow that was still in one of my hands with caution. I stifled a laugh, “I’m sorry that you had to see that.”

He smiled and stepped close to me and placed a hand on Kiki’s back and a kiss on my forehead, “It is rather intimidating to see.”

Kiki unburied his face from my neck and grinned at Sion, “Mu-sama only does it when someone has been really bad and he doesn’t want to hurt them.”

“I see, very inventive.”

“Well of course!” the boy made a sound as if it was common knowledge. “Mu-sama is the greatest.”

Purple eyes softened, “That he is.”

I felt my cheeks heat as he watched me. I gave a small smile as I put Kiki down and placed a hand on the small of my back when I straightened out. From that simple action I got a pair of concerned looks.

“Just a bit sore,” I lied. It was a lot more painful now, and I was getting tired.

“You should lay down and rest.”

Kiki looked up, “Yeah! I can cook dinner tonight.”

I gave him a look that told him that if he did what he did last time then there would be more pillow action. He only grinned and took a hold of Sion’s pant leg as indications that he would get help from someone more professional at cooking than a lemur, even if the lemur was cute. It also pleased me that even after what had happened Kiki didn’t display an ill will toward my love.

I tucked my pillow under my arm, giving my apprentice a pat on the head and a chaste kiss to my lover. I managed to walk with out an odd limp to my bed. It would seem that my visit to a knowledgeable friend would have to wait until later. Flopping down on the soft mattress and closed my eyes, it was warm enough that a blanket was not needed and soon I was fast asleep.

When I woke to the smell of something burning I could only groan. The startled sounds of the two I most cared about made it apparent that something was on fire. Kiki screamed something about water and then there was a shriek. Great, they managed a grease fire. I rolled off of my bed and trudged out of my bedroom. Smoke rolled out of the kitchen and along the ceiling, I mentally noted that I’d need to clean the scorch marks that were most likely on the wall. I grabbed a fire extinguisher that Deathmask had given me a year back as a gag gift. I only kept it because, well… Kiki could be a handful. I walked into the kitchen feeling my lungs burn from the smoke. I managed to get a clear shot and smother the fire out. Dropping the red canister, I covered my mouth with one hand and grabbed my brown haired little one with the other. Stifling my breath and coughs, I felt a hand grab me by my shoulder and all three of us managed to get outside to the safety of the railed walk way that rimmed the levels of my pagoda. The fresh air hurt to breath as we all coughed out what had been burning our lungs.

“Kiki,” I wheezed feeling my eye twitch.

“At least,” he gave a heavy cough, “it’s not as bad as the lemur.”

“Lemur?” Sion looked at the two of us as he gripped the railing still trying to clear his lungs.

“Long story,” I summed up. “Now what?”

“Well,” he gave one last cough before looking back at the still black kitchen. “Looks like Kiki and I have some cleaning to do after everything clears out.”

The young boy gave a moaning protest.

“So I suggest that we find a town to eat at for tonight. Or we could go and spend the night at Sanctuary and just deal with the house tomorrow.”

“How about we do both?” I rubbed the bridge of my nose trying to sooth the pain out from smelling the thick smoke up close and personal.

“Sounds good to me!” Kiki blurted.

Sion nodded and off to the market we went, after I made sure all of the fire was out of course. Soon as we arrived I stuck close to the ex-pope of Athena and took a good hold of Kiki’s hand. Unfortunately the closest place that had any sort of restaurant was a city that was filled with what Seiya would call shady people. In certain parts of town they would steal the clothes right off of your back, while in others kidnapping a child from your hand was most preferred. I was only glad that we ended up in the gambling district where people wouldn’t dare to do anything out of line in fear for the reigning gangs that would ‘take you for a walk’. It was good enough because there were hotels that would actually allow you to take a bath with only a minimal price and you wouldn’t have to pay for a room. There were a few small market vendors that sold from produce to junk food as well. Usually I would have insisted on going to the next town down but this was closer and it was faster to just get something to eat here and go to Sanctuary. I hated the dingy lights of the town, it made it look much more dirty than it really was and darker than the current time of day. It also brought back bad memories.

A man came running by, I scooped up Kiki to my breast quickly and stepped to the side before anything could happen to him. The stranger only looked behind his shoulder to his pursers who filed by at a fast pace. Holding Kiki up with one arm, I took a tight grip of Sion’s hand with the other. He pulled a little as we wove through the coagulation of people that called themselves a large crowd. Strangers stood outside their shops and shouted out goods and business as we passed by. One was a hotel or so they claimed, the advertiser slapped my shoulder as we darted pass telling us that they were the best in town and could satisfy all of the family’s needs. I felt a thick knot form in my throat. I closed my eyes and let myself be lead as the thick smell of people invaded my senses and my ears filled with voices that shouted, screamed, and whispered. When Sion had stopped he had quickly ordered a meal that was large enough for the three of us. While they were cooking and packing it he turned to me. His hand caressed the side of my face and hair, his voice was soft and barley audible over the other sounds when he asked me if I was okay. I smiled and nodded pressing Kiki even closer to me in a protective manner. By the protesting sound he was making he really didn’t like my over protective nature when we were out of the house. He would come to understand some day that it was for the best.

It was at that moment that I smelled something. Something that I wished to Zeus that I would never have to smell again in my life. It was heavy and dry like herbs but decade and fermented like that disgusting mice wine that some person in Hong Kong had decided to invent. I swallowed hard, my eyes locked onto my lover’s purple gaze. I felt my pulse raise as my body became ridged. I didn’t want to look around, I didn’t even want to move. If I could I would have teleported out but there was to big of a crowd and Athena would not approve. It seemed that Sion had either read my mind or had recognized the sent himself because he pulled me close to him so that his larger size over shadowed me and hid me away from eyes that might remember. The food was quickly paid for and our small group started to move through the crowds again. The closer the city line came the more hopeful I got for getting away from this place, away from that smell, and past those memories that clawed and chewed at my mind.

“Hey!”

My body froze and I nearly tripped from how hard Sion pulled me to continue along. He forced my feet to continue to move but my eyes betrayed me to look behind. I was hoping that it was someone else, I was wishing that I was only hearing things, but there he was. Older, still in a business suit and with that same disgusting smile that had too many teeth that pulled up along the sides of his face. His eyes squinted as he nodded towards me in confirmation that it was me an no one else.
