Chapter 6: Waking Up

Yuki leaned back from kissing Shuichi and sat back in his chair. Still holding Shu’s hand in his, Yuki reached up with the other and brushed some hair out of Shu’s face. Yuki looked Shuichi over, making note of all his injuries. ‘The kid got it bad. If I finally meet the guy who did this I’ll smash his head into a bloody pulp.’ Yuki thought getting extremely pissed off. Looking back into Shuichi’s face Yuki whispered out loud, “Don’t worry, I’ll get him back for this. I promise.”

Shuichi listened to what Yuki said and wondered why he was so angry. ‘Why is Yuki so mad? It’s not like it’s his problem to deal with. I hope he doesn’t go after Akuma; he doesn’t deserve anything like that to happen to him. After all it was my fault right?’ Shuichi thought to himself in worry. Shuichi sighed and hung his head in his hands. He said out loud willing Yuki to hear him, “Please, Yuki, don’t do anything to Akuma. I’m begging you. It’s not his fault.”

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Akuma stood outside the door listening carefully, anger building up, threatening to boil over. His hands were in tight fists and his face screwed up in rage. Knowing he can’t very well start anything in a hospital, Akuma willed himself to turn around and slowly walked over to the elevator, pushing the down button with a little too much force.

When the elevator came Akuma stepped inside and pressing for the lobby, waited while the doors closed and the car started to move. He set his head against the wall of the car and screamed in blinding anger. “How dare he touch Shuichi right in front of me! What’s worse is that Shuichi was letting him! I can’t believe he was cheating on me the whole time. That bastard, I’ll kill him!” When the doors opened, Akuma regained his composure and walked out calmly, holding back his rage with a tight smile.

Suguru walked into NG, going to the usual studio that Bad Luck always occupied. He stepped into the room and threw down his bag on the table. He then went over to set up his keyboards. Awhile later Hiro walked thru the door and went over to take a seat at the table, sighing and hanging his head.

Suguru looked over and asked, “What’s wrong with you?”

Hiro looked up with a look on his face that basically said ‘you’re an idiot’ and answered back sarcastically, “What’s wrong? Well gee, lets see. K is still in America, Sakano is being an idiot and becoming a nervous wreck, and oh, Shuichi is still in a coma. How about that?”

Suguru just sighed and shook his head. “Look Hiro, Shuichi will wake up soon, K will be coming back this afternoon and as for Sakano, just lock him up in a padded room for a couple hours and he’ll be fine.”

Hiro slit his eyes and looked over at Suguru in slight anger. “I’m trying to be serious. What are we going to do?” Hiro asked.

Suguru continued to work on some music on his keyboards and said back in a slow voice as if speaking to a child, “Everything will be fine, just get some work done and forget about it.”

Hiro, getting annoyed at how calm Suguru was being, sighed in frustration and pulled on his hair. “I still think it was Akuma.” Hiro mumbled to himself.

Suguru halted in his work, looking up and just staring straight ahead with a raised eyebrow. He then sighed and shook his head, looking up at the ceiling.

Yuki glanced at his watch and realized that almost an hour had gone by. Sighing, Yuki stood up from the chair and laid Shuichi’s hand back down on the bed. He then leaned over and kissed Shu on the forehead saying quietly, “I have to get going but I’ll come back. After all, my sister is right next door to your room. Take care Shuichi.” With a soft, quick kiss on the lips, Yuki turned around and reluctantly went out of the room and headed for the room on his left. At the next door, Yuki turned and went inside, barely knocking on the door as he passed.

Mika looked up and narrowed her eyes at her brother. “You could have knocked you know. And why are you an hour late?”

Yuki pulled a chair over to the bed and sat down saying matter-of-factly, “I don’t believe that is any of your business.”

Mika opened her mouth as if insulted and said, “Of course it is, I’m your sister after all. I do care about you despite what you may think. Now what happened?”

Yuki was getting angry and narrowing his eyes, answered back, almost yelling, “Just because you’re my sister doesn’t give you any such right! And as for where I was, I was next door visiting someone!”
“Lower your voice this is a hospital, Eiri.” Mika said between clenched teeth. She then smiled and said jokingly, “You were visiting someone? Oh my, is the world ending? Who could you be seeing, besides me?”

Yuki stood up quickly, madder than a ragging boar and hands closed into tight fists, nails digging into his palms. His teeth were clenched and his mouth closed in a tight smile. “How the hell would you know what goes on in my life? For your information I have someone special to me right next door. He happens to be in a coma. So don’t you dare say that I couldn’t possibly have anyone to see. You aren’t the only soul on this planet like you seem to think.” Yuki said, yelling quietly, his voice full of malice. Yuki turned and headed for the door, slamming it shut on his way out.

Mika sat there stunned, her mouth hanging open. ‘I can’t believe it.’ She thought, eyes slightly wide in shock. “I can’t believe he just yelled at me!”

*^*^*^*^*^

Shuichi opened his eyes to blackness once again. Rubbing his eyes, Shuichi listened to see if Yuki was still there but heard no one. ‘Damn, I guess he left when I was asleep. I hope he doesn’t do anything stupid. Maybe I should try and wake up and warn him.’ Suddenly Shuichi got confused in his own thoughts. ‘Wait, why do I need to warn him? Akuma wouldn’t hurt him; he wouldn’t hurt anyone on purpose. But still...’ Shuichi let his thoughts drift off as he just sat on the ground, unable to remove the worried expression from his face.

After a couple of minutes, Shuichi finally made up his mind and got up from the cold ground. He stood facing forward or in front of him as there is no way of telling which way is forward, and started walking. Suddenly he came upon a row of doors. Going up to the first one Shuichi grabbed the handle and turned the knob.

Slowly opening it, he saw a memory being played. It was the time that Shuichi had met Akuma at a party hosted by NG. Tohma had invited Akuma in hopes that he would produce a limited addition video for Nittle Grasper. Akuma had turned Tohma down and instead offered his expertise to Bad Luck.

Shuichi closed the door with a heavy sigh and went to the fifth one in line. Opening the door, Shu saw the day that he ended up following Akuma out to a business dinner. When he arrived at the restaurant, Shu found out that is wasn’t a business dinner after all. Akuma was seeing someone else. Shuichi immediately slammed the door closed and breathing hard, leaned up against it. ‘I do not want to relive that.’ Taking a deep breath, Shuichi stood up straight and walked all the way down to the last door. Shuichi opened it very slowly and peeked inside, afraid of what he might see. Suddenly all the memories that he had forgotten about what had happened to him came flooding back with extreme force. Each memory vivid and fierce.

With tears coming down his cheeks, Shuichi quietly and slowly closed the door and turned around. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes briefly. Wiping the tears from off of his face, Shu gradually opened his eyes. When his eyes had focused completely, Shuichi saw a door in front of him that he hadn’t noticed, across from the one he just closed. He approached the door and turned the knob but couldn’t open the door. He tried again even harder but it still wouldn’t budge. Shuichi kept trying, knowing that this must be the door that’ll allow him to wake up.

Still pulling and almost out of strength, Shuichi yelled out, thinking ‘If I don’t get this damn door opened I can’t…’ His thoughts were cut short as the door just burst open, sending Shuichi flying back and landing hard on his butt. He looked up at the door that had a tunnel at the very end. Shuichi stood up, rubbing his butt, and walked, hesitantly, inside.

*^*^*^

After letting himself cool off for an hour in the Hospital café, Akuma made his way over to the elevators. He pushed the up button and waited as the car came to a stop in front of him. When the doors opened, a man with golden hair stepped out and glanced at Akuma as he walked out. Akuma glanced back briefly and walked inside the elevator.

Yuki stood outside the elevator and watched the door that had just closed. For some reason, Yuki felt uneasy about that guy but couldn’t understand why. Narrowing his eyes in thought, Yuki turned and walked out to his car in the visitor parking lot.

*^*^*
Shuichi lay in his bed and slowly opened his eyes to a bright light overhead. Quickly closing his eyes against the pain, Shuichi managed to very slowly sit up in his bed. Opening his eyes inch by inch this time, Shuichi looked around the room. ‘I’m in the hospital. Man, my chest hurts like hell.’ Shuichi put a hand to his chest and used the other to pull back his covers while closing one eye to deal with the pain that emerged all over his body. ‘I have to get up and go find Yuki.’ Shuichi continued to think, starting to breathe heavily.

Shuichi removed the breathing tube from his nose and took out all the tube connected to him. Knowing he didn’t have much time before someone came in, he moved his legs to the side of the bed and very carefully slid them down to the floor. As soon as his legs hit the ground and he began to stand up, Shuichi got dizzy and pain radiated from his left leg. He collapsed on the floor, eyes tightly shut and breathe coming in pants. With his teeth clenched together, Shuichi opened his eyes and, as sweat dripped down his forehead from the effort, stood up. He made his way over to the closet and got out his clothes, carefully putting them on.

Gripping the corner of the door, Shuichi walked out of his room and hurriedly, but carefully, made his way around the corner of the hall. (The opposite corner from which Akuma and the nurses/doctors will be coming from.) Shuichi made his way to the nearest elevator, placing a hand on the wall as he made his way down the hall to help support himself. He could hear the rushing footsteps coming from behind him and people slightly yelling, giving orders.

When the elevator opened Shuichi went inside, after a group of people walked out that is, and pushed the button to request the lobby. While the car went down, Shu leaned against the wall and continued to breathe heavily, blinking his eyes a couple of times to get rid of the blurriness and the dizzy feeling. When the doors opened at the bottom floor, Shuichi sighed one last time and left the hospital thru the main lobby doors.

*^*^*^*^*

As the elevator made its way up to the third floor, Akuma stood against the back wall. ‘That was the guy from Shuichi’s room. I think I’ve seen him some where else. His face was extremely familiar.’ Akuma thought to himself. When the elevator opened, Akuma walked out and made his way to Shuichi’s room, passing the nurses station on the way where the small television was on in the corner. Akuma glanced over, hearing a reporter speak.

“The famous novelist, Eiri Yuki, received the Pulitzer Prize yesterday for his book ‘Cool’. This man has....” The reporter announced.

Akuma tuned her out as a picture of the man was put on the screen. ‘It’s the same man from Shu’s room and the elevator. Well, now that I know his name, I can make him pay.’ Akuma thought as an evil smile came across his face.

*^*^*^*

Yuki approached his car and unlocked the door. Getting inside he took out his cell phone and dialed a familiar number.

Tohma answered on the second ring. “Eiri. What can I do for you?”

“You remember what that producer guys name is, the one that’s well known and came to that party of yours awhile back?”

Tohma’s eyebrows scrunched in thought and then remembering, said, “Yes, of course. His name was Akuma Shoyu. He ended up turn...”

Eiri cut him off and said with irritation, “I don’t care what he did to you. Does he have black hair by any chance?”

“Why yes, with brown highlights I believe. At least he did when I last saw him. Why?” Tohma asked curiously.

“Thanks, got to go.” With that Yuki hung up and closed his car door, started the engine and drove off. ‘So, that was him huh?’

AN: what do you think? Well? I need to know, it’s my fuel. Lol. Well, in two weeks, or so, exams will begin for me. That means I don’t know when my next chapter will be posted, so keep watch. C-ya! :) :)
