Ctarl Ctarl, Capital city...

"Kitten, you've got some nerve challenging me," the emperor growled.
"You cannot lead us to victory," the younger male replied. His silver mane of hair shined in the dim light of the combat zone. His yellow eyes pierced those of the emperor's.
"You think just because your father was some great general that you're worthy enough to take my place?!" the emperor snarled.
"You can't lead us to victory. Now, are you going to fight or are you going to yield?" the younger male asked.
"I'm going to put you in your place!" the emperor roared.
The two were surrounded by a circular transparent wall with Ctarls watching the combat. A hot shot general whose father was a general had challenged the current emperor. Whoever won the fight would be emperor.
At first, it appeared that the emperor would win, but then, the younger Ctarl began to press his newly acquired advantage. Eventually, he overpowered the emperor and to everyone's shock, the emperor fell, unconscious.
"Let it be known that I am now Emperor and will lead the empire to victory against the Rorgans and the Sith!" he proclaimed and the other Ctarls roared. The transparent wall vanishes and a female with a thick lion's mane of brown hair approached him. His eyes soften as she approached. Quickly, the new emperor grabbed the female and in front of the gathered, marked her as his by biting her. Shock crossed the faces of the other Ctarls. Marking a mate was supposed to be done in private, not in such a public display.
"Feh," a male said, "dam brother's showing off," The male Ctarl was shorter than his brother, but had been in just as many, if not more fights, than the new emperor had. Of course, he preferred his brother ruling Ctarl Ctarl than the ass that had been running things.

Terran solar system...

The eight planet solar system that was home to over nine billion Terrans was a buzz with activity. Ships were in port in orbit of Mars and Earth, getting refitted with trans-ether coils. Trans-ether was a new technology that made jumping to sub-ether easier and made it so a ship only had to make one jump to anywhere in the galaxy. It had been a blessing that the technology had been developed when it did. The Sith and Rorgans were ready to start a galactic war and the only allies that were around for the Terrans were the Ctarls.
The Ctarl-Ctarl Empire and human kind had had battles, but neither side had declared full out war on each other. However, with a new emperor in charge, relations between the two worlds were about to change.
The sub-ether beacon in orbit of Neptune warned of a sub-ether signature coming into the solar system. The beacons in orbit of Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars echoed the same thing. Then, between Earth and Mars, three large and impressive looking Ctarl ships jumped back into normal space. They were soon greeted with three large Earth vessels and the six ships made their way to the blue ball known as Earth.
"The new Imperial class ships, also equipped with trans-ether coils, were the latest and greatest ships in the Ctarl fleet. As a sign of good faith, a technology exchange took place, the Ctarl got the trans-ether technology, and in turn, humans were given a crack at figuring out the Ctarl-Ctarl new energy defense shield.
Five of the six ships went into standard orbit of the planet while the sixth ship, the largest of the Ctarl vessels, docked at the orbiting station.
A line of human soldiers, clad in dress uniform stood as the doors to the Ctarl ship. The doors opened and a parade of Ctarl officers came out, followed by the Emperor and his mate.
"Emperor, welcome to Earth," the president of the Federation greeted.
"It pleases me that I have been welcomed so warmly, I don't think a Ctarl has been this far into human space," he said and laughter echoed. "May we get down to business?"
"Of course, this way," the president said and with arm guards, human and Ctarl alike, the two most important men in the war headed to discuss terms of an alliance that would change the face of the galaxy for ever.

"There is a problem," the president said, taking a sip of his drink. "Unlike the Empire, Earth doesn't control all human controlled colonies."
"Hmmmm," the Emperor began, "I didn't know Terrans knew how to make Ctarl alcohol."
"We are fast learners."
"You want to deal with the frontier worlds then?"
"Yes."
"In a show that we are working together and that the Sith and Rorgans shouldn't be so confident because they think we'll turn on each other quickly."
"Exactly. We get a grip on the Frontier, we'll be able to protect our people here."
"And, with a unified human race under the flag of the Earth federation..."
"Along with our friends in the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire..."
"Our common enemies will not stand a chance," the emperor finished, a fang gleaming in the light.

Valeria Vertone, now full commander of Angel Links, sat back in her command chair. Commanding a bunch of kids was a pain in the ass, but she loved her work. The tactical board lit up and Duuz perked up.
"What is it?" Duuz asked. The monitor came to life and was quickly filled with ships jumping out of sub-ether.
"Those are Earth Federation ships, but how could they have gotten in..." Valeria began to ask but the com-system came to life and a human general's face appeared on the screen.
"I apologize, Commander Vertone, for dropping in on you, but we didn't know if the Sith could listen in on your transmissions." the general said.
"We haven't had much Sith activity, but I'm guessing since you are here that Earth believes that there will be some major moves done soon?"
"Correct. Angel Links will now be merged into the Earth Federation military. Don't worry, since you know the region and the local pirate groups well you will be promoted to Admiral. We'll be stationed here until we make sure every world flies the flag of the Earth Federation and we've got help." the general said and on cue, Ctarl ships jumped.
"Impressive," Duuz said smiling. Valeria, even though she was a military woman, wondered how long she would be under the command of this general. The brats weren't used such military being around all the time. Ships from the home world didn't come to the frontier often.
"I would like to know how Earth Federation ships got out here so quickly, and how many Ctarl ships will be joining us," Valeria inquired.
"The news of the trans-ether technology hasn't gotten his far. I shall fill you in and will assist in the outfitting of your ships," the general said and the screen went black.
"Finally, some real combat," Duuz said. Valeria sighed, wondering just how much chaos this display of military might would cause.

The characters of the new Ctarl Emperor and his mate I envision as a Ctarl version of Sesshomaru and Rin. I think you know who the younger brother of the Emperor is. Let me know what you think of this chapter.
