Missing Pieces

Spike awoke in a tangle of limbs, but none of them were Kitty’s. The large living room was empty and that heavy dark feeling was beginning to settle in again.

“Faye! Wake up, move it…Kitty is gone.” Spike said as he pushed gently on her shoulder.

“Great…what did you say to her after I fell asleep!” Grumbled Faye.

“Nothing! Why would you say that?” Spike asked pissed.

“Come on now…” Faye rolled her eyes. “You must have said something…”

“I didn’t really…Why would I do that Faye? Why would I want to ruin this? Why won‘t you stop bitching I didn‘t do anything.” Spike protested loudly.

“Oh like you don’t destroy things? I suppose we should look for a note or something…did you think of that…she does have a job you know, she could have gone to find her boss.” Faye stomped off towards the kitchen and started hunting for a note. Spike had a bad feeling. Faye was not going to find a note. He was sure Kitty came to her senses and split. She was none too pleased about he and Faye being involved with the syndicate.

“There is nothing in here Spike, the hallway either, and her purse is in on her bed. I don’t like it.” Faye clipped.

“Lets go we need Jet, I need the computer on the hammerhead, where the gates is Ed anyhow? She could hack Kitty‘s computer card for sure. I found it in my pocket.” Spike looked grim as he spoke.

Faye could tell that this was going to be serious with Spike. He may give up his broken heart to Kitty of all people. She could not help being a little disappointed at this. The sudden press of Spike’s lips against hers consumed her. She could feel his need for her. She perhaps was wrong about Kitty…?

Spike was kissing her hard. His hand found her breast and pinched the nipple. He bent her over and had her shorts off in seconds. Boy he was smooth…his hand went to the warm wet slit between her legs and before she knew it she was bent over the couch with Spike pounding into her from behind. He was amazing her body was consumed with fire. He held her tits tightly as he thrust again and again into her. Saying nothing and everything and all she could do was moan. She came violently as Spike thrust into her harder and shook with his own orgasm.

Jet rubbed his eyes as he sat down to his computer…still no response from Faye. He wondered if it was all some hoax that would just get him killed.

The news reports were all the same. Medical research fire kills all employees. CEO missing, wanted for questioning, small bounty…nothing. No leads here. But where to go now. The research facility was working on some sort of memory reconstruction, it had been in the news a few times before it blew. Apparently the competition was stiff for developing new memory therapy. Stiff and dangerous, bad people wanted this good technology for their own uses. He would bet a bonsai on it. It stood to reason that if it could restore memory it could also alter it. He had seen what Faye went through. He didn’t wish it on anyone. Spooky shit.

And then he saw it Faye Valentine on the list of dead at the explosion over and that syndie hotel. Great now he was looking for the dead.

Spike looked down…the small drop of blood in the foyer was fresh. Very fresh. Kitty did not leave willingly that was for sure, and that sure was a bad thing.

"What's wrong Spike...oh God it's blood isn't it...shit...shit... This is so bad."

"Yes it's bad, now lets get moving." They made their way past the foyer into the elevator to the garage on the upper level. The buttons would not work, nothing worked. They were locked in. Spike looked around for something anything he could use to get the door to budge. It was useless this place was built like a safe. The only hope was the security computer in the kitchen.

"C'mon Faye, we have to go back to the kitchen. The only way out is to unlock from the kitchen computer. It looks like they took her as she was leaving..." Was she leaving them he wondered? It had been a wild scene, as gritty as Kitty could be he would bet it was the first time she had done that. Hell it was the first time he had done that.

Fortunately the computer in the kitchen had not been tampered with, but it still meant foul play even if Kitty was on her way out. Something Faye said…her boss…yes. She could have tried to contact her employer after the scene at work the previous day. There had been bodyguards there, I wonder if she even knows what’s going on.

Spike and Faye got to the garage and the bots were not functioning. Great now this. There was no getting around hauling the big roof door open themselves.

“Faye, grab that handle and dangle from it, your weight should pop the manual lock,” spat Spike, “I have to try and pull it back.

“It’s always like this with you isn’t it. Stuck in some place trying to get out, what am I doing setting you free on the galaxies again, always getting me in trouble.” Joked Faye.

“You did not need any help from me with that, trouble should be your name not Valentine, ha, what a joke” Spike giggled.

“What’s THAT supposed to mean!” Faye was pissed now, why couldn’t they ever be civil to each other. She grabbed the handle and dangled, promptly falling onto Spike below who was climbing the ladder to the winch.

“Shit Faye, I love your ass and all but can you move it!” Growled Spike.

Kitty slumped in the back of a zip craft she did not recognize. She did, however, recognize the pilot. It was Winston. She knew he was scum but this…it made the bounty hunters look like good guys.

He had attacked her at her refuge…her secret place…she was going to get breakfast groceries for the two beauties asleep on her couch. She was just out the door to the elevator when Winston pulled her down from behind. He hit her with something then she remembered nothing until a few minutes ago. Now she wished she had stayed unconscious. What she was overhearing would make her a young and beautiful corpse.

It was only pieces at first, Winston had been dealing with the new Syndicate bosses. He had plans to sell their drug to the underworld for profit. Super scum. Kitty vowed she would kill him first or go down trying.
