Reunion

Pairings: So as not to confuse anyone further, the pairings have mercifully decided to remain the same as they have been since the beginning of this story. You should all thank them profusely for their hardships. By the way, the pairing(s) at the beginning of this story was pretty much; Everyone x Each other…

Disclaimer: If I owned DN angel I’d be in a better place right now…no school…peanut butter cookies…a harem of beautiful women…etc.

Author’s note: *See Dashboard for parking ticket*……………and thanks for the reviews…*Grins*

***
So the blonde went in for a dive, his target strolling, obliviously, below.
***

Clouds rolled lazily above, resting on the breeze as Daisuke searched.

//I can’t seem to find him anywhere…I wonder where he could’ve gone.//

The crimson-eyed prince decided to check inside the castle as soon as he had thoroughly finished checking the grounds.

//Nope. He’s definitely not outside. Unless he ran away…//

A horrible surge of imaginings rushed to Daisuke at that thought.

//What if he really doesn’t think of me in that way…I hadn’t completely thought all this out. What if he’s disgusted? There’d be nothing he could do about any advances I wanted to make because he has to do what I say…so what if he just feels like I’m taking advantage of my status…and his.//

Daisuke brought a hand up to his face as he staggered—preoccupied—into the castle courtyard.

//I have no way of telling what he thinks of me…he’s just too hard to read.//

Daisuke sighed.

//Well, I suppose I have to tell him anyways…that’s the only way to know what he’ll think.//

So, the young prince continued his search, uncertain but with a resolve.
He wandered throughout the courtyard, gazing down the numerous gardens and even going so far as to sneak down the walkway that led to the servant’s quarters.

//Alright. If he isn’t here then he has to be somewhere in the castle. There really isn’t anywhere else he could be.//

For a brief moment Daisuke’s thoughts returned to that horrible musing of whether or not Satoshi may have run away.

//But where would he go?//

And with that thought in mind, Daisuke commenced his pursuit, determined to find the blue-haired slave.
He searched throughout each one of the dorms, careful not to disturb any workers who may have been sleeping in their off time. What he found disappointed him greatly, for what he found was not skilled in having the presence of Satoshi.

Daisuke left the servant’s corridors and allowed himself to shake a fist in the general direction of the sky, earning him a few perplexed glances from random workers and guests.

Daisuke paid them no mind as he set out to finish searching the rest of the castle.

***

Krad mentally cursed as his target just happened to walk into the castle before the blonde’s task was accomplished.

//How inconvenient of him.//

So the white-winged man landed, careful to make sure that he had no witnesses.
Krad sighed dramatically and spoke aloud to himself. “Well, I might as well follow him.”
And the man set off in the same direction as Daisuke had gone, tracing the red-head’s steps.

***

//Footsteps.//

Daisuke was sure he had heard footsteps in this hallway. The sound sparked his hope immediately and up until he saw who the footsteps belonged to.

“Lady Risa.” Daisuke greeted politely.

“Prince Daisuke.” The brunette girl greeted in return, sounding rather bored as she spoke.

“Are you looking for something? Do you need any help?” Daisuke offered with a generous smile.

He had once had a crush on Risa. The girl’s parents were frequent visitors to the King and Queen. Close friends even.
Daisuke had met the girl around the same time that Satoshi had been hired. He remembered thinking about how pretty she looked in her long, satiny dresses. The crush didn’t last very long however, for as soon as he went up to talk to the girl she had readily dismissed him with just one look. Besides, he was sure, lately, that she had her eyes set on another.

“No...wait, yes, there is something you could do for me…if it isn’t too much trouble…”

“Yes?”

“I saw you dancing with a man during the ball…who was he?”

Daisuke paled visibly. “Y-you must be mistaken…I apologize but I don’t remember anyone like that.”

Risa inclined her head. “I see. Thank-you anyways.”

“I’m sorry I couldn’t have been of more help.” And the red-haired boy continued walking on, this time outside the grounds to see if Satoshi had wandered out there at some point.

As he disappeared around the corner, the brunette girl could clearly be seen standing in the corridor, staring after the prince, with one eyebrow elegantly quirked upwards.

***

Lady Risa frowned in thought.

//I’m positive I saw him and another man dancing together that night…right before the chandelier fell. What is Daisuke hiding from me?//

Risa paused during her thought recollection to gather up a clearer memory of that night.

***

Risa could feel the tingle in her chest as she looked upon that violet-haired man. The one who was dancing with Prince Daisuke, of all people!

//That man should be dancing with me…he’s so beautiful…// The girl thought vainly with a wistful smile.

//Well, it would make more sense!!!// Risa amended her own thoughts.

She was relatively correct in her thoughts as well, considering the fact that the Prince and that mystery man were both male.

//Besides, Daisuke’s parents wouldn’t approve of him dancing with a stranger.//

Risa was about to make her way over to the man and Daisuke, to conveniently intervene, when the chandelier plummeted, and her main concern was to move out of the way for the time being.

***

Risa rubbed her temples tiredly.

“I know for sure that Daisuke knows him so…why would he lie to me about it? What are they to each other I wonder…?”

The brunette girl decided she would have to keep a closer eye on Daisuke now that she knew he must be hiding something.

//I will not be lied to!//

So, with an air of stifling displeasure, Lady Risa stalked off to prepare for the gathering that was to be held in the evening.

***

With a cry of exasperation, Daisuke slumped down to the ground in a heap of tired limbs, unaware of his current watcher.
***

Krad smiled briefly, warmed by the red-head’s endearing habits and efforts, before mentally replacing it with a smirk, startled at his own display of softened emotion.

//Well, I suppose now would be a good time to catch him…now that he’s vulnerable…and I have a right to after I followed him everywhere and then back outside!!!//

Krad fluttered his wings in preparation then swooped down, scooping the small prince into his arms with ease.

“Wha-what!?”

Krad grinned as he felt the red-head begin to struggle.

“You!” The Prince exclaimed from his current position, cradled in Krad’s arms.

The blonde smirked down at Daisuke in reply.

“Why yes, it is me. How perceptive of you.”

“Why have you taken me? Where are we going!?”

Just then an idea formed its way into Daisuke’s mind.
//What if he took Satoshi like he’s taking me? What if he hurt him…?//

Daisuke cleared his throat in an attempt to rid himself of the ever-enlarging anxiety that had developed within it.

“Are you afraid, little prince?” Krad questioned, observant to Daisuke’s behaviour.

“…What did you do to Satoshi?” Daisuke asked, ignoring the previous question.

“Your little slave boy? I didn’t do anything to him…is that who you were looking for back at the castle? Were you worried about him? That’s so sweet of you.” The blonde mockingly replied.

Daisuke could feel the pink-ness of his cheeks burn at the edges of his skin and he mentally struggled not to give in to the steadily forming blush.

//Well…I have no reason to believe this man…but somehow…I do. If what he says is true then…where is Satoshi? He couldn’t have really run away…was he so unhappy here?//

Krad could see the confusion written in Daisuke’s eyes so he decided to let the boy in on where he planned to take him.

“If you still want to know…which I suspect you do…I am taking you to a cavern that is within a forest not to far from where we are flying over now…”

Daisuke glanced up in surprise. The information was unexpected but at least he knew now where he was going to be…and if he wasn’t too far from the castle…then perhaps there was a chance of escape…

“Oh,” Krad began, “and if you’re thinking of trying to escape…I wouldn’t advise it. I’m faster than you and I’m not in the mood for trying to catch you a second time, it would really try my nerves.”

//What can I do to get out of this then…?// Daisuke thought with creeping dismay.

//I’m just going to have to go along with what happens…until I find an opportunity to escape.//

“Hey prince.” Krad spoke up, jarring Daisuke out of his thoughts, and motioning towards a cavern in the distance.
Daisuke wouldn’t have noticed it if the blonde hadn’t pointed it out to him, for the place was shrouded in the huge trees of an unfamiliar forest. The boy could hear the soft gushing sounds of a river and was almost surprised to see one winding its way throughout the expanse of the forest, running directly by the cavern itself.

“I suppose this is where our flight ends. Welcome to the cavern, little prince.”

Krad took a dive and Daisuke clutched at air as he felt his stomach plummet.

The blonde directed them both inside with practiced ease.

Daisuke felt himself lower to the ground and was immediately relieved.

//I’m not sure how I feel about flying.// the red-head observed as his insides twisted fearfully.

What he saw next was about to make him far more afraid than he was now, and as Daisuke caught a flash of blue in the corner of his eyes, only one word echoed throughout his mind.

//Satoshi.//

Well…there I go…another updated chapter. I have really been taking too long I realize…but…it’s a tad bit more difficult now…you see, I had family visiting and everything. I wish I had a computer at my house…*sighs* Ah, well…no one wishes to hear me complain I’m sure. I thank everyone for the reviews and I hope to get the next chapter up sooner…but in truth I probably won’t be able to…I promise to make it longer though!!!
