Dangerous Dreams

Leon opened his eyes, nothing hurt as least but he couldn't decide whether that was good or bad. Clouds drifted by in his line of sight, the floor was firm beneath his exposed skin, he wouldn't be wearing these clothes ever again that was for sure. As he lay there taking stock of himself a voice spoke from near by. "You may stand if you wish Detective Orcot. Your injuries have been cared for." Leon wondered at the definition of cared for but stood slowly away as he did he looked about still wary, he found that he was stood on the deck of a ship sailing through the sky, stars gleamed closer that he had ever seen them. Over the main cabin there were many different people some of which he recognised even though he had never really seen them in this form. A goat horned boy winked at him. "T-chan?"
*Opened ya eyes at last stupid, I really dunno what he sees in you.* D raised a elegant eyebrow. "Now, now Testu be nice to Leon."
"I think agree with the Testu, you do get yourself into some interesting scrapes Leon." Finally placing the voice he found his own to answer. "I know some interesting people apparently Matsuri." The man laughed.
"You do that, my friend. I have done what I can to prevent disaster in the place I took you from but I was unable to prevent your father from starting an explosion which destroyed the upper floors of the building. I rescued the young lady but the detective with her refused the aid and died also. The lady is at the bottom of the building now waiting for you but I needed to speak with you first." D gave a soft smile.
"I fear I know why, immortals and humans do not generally mate and when they do it causes difficulties." Matsuri nodded.
"I do not ask you to give up anything only offer a gift to Leon if he will accept." Leon looked at Matsuri suddenly realising something. "This is the shop isn't it?"
"It is Leon, you are now beginning to see with more then you're head but with you're heart also. The gift I give you is this - I can give you a longer life than you would ever have as a normal human, you would not be as D but certainly long lived. No immortal can make another into an immortal only the gods can give a gift like that." D nodded carefully.
"This gift is more generous than we could ask for but I wish to ask if there is a price for such an offer." Matsuri gave a gentle smile and shook his head.
"No D, there is no price, Leon is a worthy soul and I give without a thought for the cost, for he gave without thought and nearly lost his life because of it."
"Yo! Stop talking about me like I'm not here. I fucking hate that." Leon couldn't believe what Matsuri was willing to give him it was like a dream. "I'm guessing I'll age slower and all that cause I wouldn't enjoy a long life looking like Yoda." D gave a blank look, pop culture was something they really would have to work on, Leon thought. "I think I can manage that young padawan." Matsuri grinned, at least someone had got the reference. "You will age much slower, D knows what to do when it becomes oblivious." Leon thought for moment, he needed to ask some questions. "Can I just talk with D for a few moments." Matsuri nodded and drifted away from them. "D, what are we going to do. You can't kept on doing the contracts not after today, I don't think I could cope with it." D frowned for a moment. "I do not know what I shall do after today, my families revenge has led to this moment and it seems fit that I give up what I have been taught all my life to obey. I shall give up my contracts and see if I can find a better way to teach humans to respect nature." Leon smiled, he thought it would have been more difficult to convince D but doubts seemed to have been creeping in for sometime. "Leon, you realise that you will lose friends over the years and it will hurt to watch them die when you remain looking much younger."
"D, I lost so many fucking friends already, Police work is hardly the safest profession to work in." Matsuri nodded in tact agreement.
"One thing Leon, you will never be entirely human again and things will happen that may be..." The immortal paused for a moment. "Unexpected."
"For fucks sake, unexpected doesn't cover half of what has gone on the last few months, I've nearly died a few times, fallen in love with a guy who turns out to be some weird Chinese thing and now I'm being offered near immortality. Unexpected I can cope with." Matsuri gave a coy smile and D looked worried. "If you say so Leon." Matsuri turned to face the bow of the ship. "Lords of Heaven I give you Leon Orcot, do you grant the gift I wish to give and pull him partly from the mortal world." A soft glow surrounded Leon.
"We do." A voice announced that was neither male or female. "Do you accept chosen one of D?"
"I accept." Leon said and for a moment he was obscured by the light when it faded Leon fell to the ground. "We are sorry for his condition but it will pass in but a few moments, our gifts are not easily given." The voice gave a small sigh which faded to nothing. D breathed a sigh of relief as he noticed the rise and fall of Leon’s chest. Matsuri bowed to D. "It is time for you to return to the mortal world, teach him to hide and the wisdom of the long lived and do not fear the gifts of the Lords of Heaven this time they are kind." He vanished without further ado.

A hour later Leon awoke in the shop, he looked about wildly for few moments until he saw Pon-chan. "Where is he?" The badger jumped. *D is in the shop with Miss Jill who came to ask about you.*
"Tell him I'm awake." Pon-chan nodded and darted away. A moment later D entered. "Are you well?"
"I'm ok, not really sure how I should feel." D bow his head hiding the smile.
"I suspect no different to before the gift but then I am a Kami and not bound by mortal laws to some extent. There will be times when you curse this gift my love but I shall be with you always." Leon smiled D always kept his promises.
