chapter 7: frustration

„Back from the gutter?“

Raven didn't bother with looking at the Blondies or greeting them.

He rushed through the main hall, spitting at Kyle:

„Yea, Jupiter situated you on a pedestal so high above, that we can hardly see you from below.
Must be lonesome there at the top.“

Raoul glanced a look at his furniture but Ryo indicated, he had no idea.

„What are you doing, pet?“

„Washing of the gutter smell before it niggles your pretty noses.“

„He is in a mood, how alluring.“

The furniture felt Lord Droscha's attraction to the mongrel completely misguided but the Blondie was known to be a deviant.

Why his master was so persistent in keeping that piece of trash, was a complete different story.

Raoul was usually a reasonable man – considered, distant, brilliant – perfect. Ryo admired him with all of his heart.

On that behalf he disliked every single pet, his master acquired but his jealousy of the mongrel reached heights unusual for the normally well controlled furniture.

How dare he embarrasses the master!

He followed the recalcitrant pet.

„Leave me alone!“

„I won't leave you untreated. You're a pet.“

Raven turned around and gifted the furniture with a bone chilling smile, designed to scare him:

„Leave – Me – Alone!“

Ryo, equally stubborn, answered: „No. And you have to wear this.“

After the horrible day, Raven had limited restraint. He pushed the furniture out of the room:

„If you know what's good for you, you won't come in for at least one hour.“

„Ryo!“

Raoul called from the hallway: „Go sit. I will deal with him later.“

The furniture bowed and rushed away. He blushed furiously, when he passed his master but the Blondie remained silent and went back to Sir Kyle.

Raven shrugged his clothes off and made for the shower cabin.

His head was a turmoil of emotions. Nothing made sense. Katze had stabbed him in the back – again.

Is that something you enjoy?

He felt bad and so very helpless. It drove him crazy. He punched the wall, wishing it was Katze.

Finally he forced himself not to think about the redhead any longer.

He put on a fresh pair of trousers and went out onto the balcony.

The cold air felt like heaven against his skin.

He positioned himself on the ledge and watched the night line of Tanagura.

His eyes drifted automatically to the direction of the old pharmacy in Midas and his hands to the scar on his belly.

Danae. What would you think of me now? You'd laugh, right?

He stretched his entire body and lay back on the narrow ledge.

Shortly after, Kyle joined him:

„You look like a cat.“

„Where is Raoul?“

„Calling Katze.“

Kyle made himself comfortable: „Just back and already craving for freedom?“

Raven slid from the ledge: „Gods, Kyle! Give a guy a break!“

The Blondie reached for his arm and pulled him close. Too close. Raven threw himself backwards, to no avail.

"Let go of me!"

The Blondie leaned down and kissed his throat in an aggressive and possessive manner that made Raven's hair stand on end.

He struggled furiously. Kyle's lips moved up to his ear:

„You will never be free again.”

A knot formed in Raven's stomach: „He can't keep me forever.”

He pushed with his free hand against the Blondie's chest.

„I'm impatient for that day to come. I intended to acquire you from Raoul but after your little show with the tower system,
it will be much more fun to hunt you down.”

The boy grew pale and swallowed hard: „You will make yourself the laughing stock of Eos.”

„Who dares to laugh at the syndicate pivot?”

„I would never curl up at your feet like one of your pretty puppies.”

„I don't want you as a puppy.”

Raven was frozen still. Kyle kissed his throat again:

„I want you to provoke me, to challenge me with that characteristic pride of yours. That is irresistibly stimulating.”

„I would kill you!”

Kyle lifted his head up by his chin. He bathed in the hatred and fear of Raven's midnight blue eyes.

What an alluring toy.

„With bare teeth if necessary.”

He let go of Raven's arm and the boy nearly fell to the ground. Kyle was not finished with 'teasing' him.

„I make one concession. I will allow you to enjoy my other special pet. I keep him just for you.”

„I'm not yours.”

The Blondie's sardonic smile reached into the very marrow of his soul.

„You will get to know him soon.”

Raven shouted: „I'm not yours!”

“Not yet.”

If the mongrel ever doubted it, he was totally convinced now: Kyle was vicious and insane.

It might have been better to die with you, Danae.

Raoul stood in the hallway, arms across his chest. It occurred to him, that Jupiter might have failed in constructing a certain kind of Blondie.

Kyle passed him: „I bid you goodbye, Raoul. I enjoyed your hospitality long enough and we both have matters to attend to.”

„I wouldn't refuse to temper with your mind, Kyle.”

As you did with Iason.

„I will give Jupiter no reason to.”

Raoul was willingly to drop the matter of Raven's earlier behavior, after the incident.

The boy stared at him with wide open eyes: „Kyle is a bored sadist but you?”

„Come inside! You will catch a cold like this.”

Raven was indeed freezing.

„I got your report from Katze. You did a good job.”

Is the Blondie comforting me?

“Will you let me again?”

„I haven't decide yet.”

Raven followed him to the sofa but remained standing:

„Did Katze provide new informations?”

„No.”

The boy looked sad and upset but beside this better than ten days ago.

„Have you eaten?”

Raven negated.

„I let Ryo bring something.”

„I'm not hungry.”

Raoul looked at him, suspicious: „You two don't care a big deal for each other?”

„We had a bad start.”

„I see.”

„May I go?”

Raoul's head dropped to the side. His pet hadn't been reluctant in joining him for a long time.

He worried the wiping wasn't successful but otherwise – he had never been unsuccessful and Katze didn't mention any suffering.

Even though he asked: „Do you feel alright?”

Raven's brow rose. It dawned, when Raoul pointed to his head. „Yes, I'm upset, nothing else.”

He dropped his eyes to the floor: „That was kind of you.”

„I won't be that lenient for a second time.”

He nodded: „May I go?”

The silence of his room was less comforting than Raven hoped for.

The sound of braking glass informed Raoul, that he was taking out his anger at the furniture.

„Finished with your tantrum?“

„No.“

„You're the worst pet, I've ever seen. Not even a Stella Quota would dare to insult a master.“

„There is a difference between a pet and me. I don't have any inbred controls.“

„Let me see to your injuries!“

„It's nothing. Leave me alone!“

The furniture remained firm: „I can't leave you untreated. You already stained the carpet.“

„Leave the first aid kit. I can do it on my own.“

„Don't fuss! Or else I drug you with a sedative.“

„You're the worst furniture I've ever seen.“

„There is a difference between other furnitures and me, I'm not scared by an unruly pet like you.“

„Wait until I try to scare you.“

Ryo already begun to remove the splinters from the cuts in Raven's arms.

He pulled roughly at one and the mongrel winced.

„Anything else you got to say?“

„I couldn't do it better.“

Ryo removed the splinters and bandaged his arms:

„They won't leave any scars .“

Raven laughed and lifted his shirt.

The furniture sighed: „What a waste of time.“

He put the first aid kit aside and cleaned the room up.

„I can do it on my own, Ryo. I didn't intent to keep you busy.“

„Whether you intended it or not, it's my responsibility.“

Raven rolled his eyes. The furniture was going to be difficult.

He made a mental note, not to get on Ryo's nerves and considered if there was a possibility to win him over.

He was less content to deal with an obstinate furniture since the furniture would be his only company for the bigger part of each day.
