Chapter Seven: Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing
It was nearing Christmas and I became very nervous. I was constantly protecting him, though he was slowing down. I felt guilty for making Rachel upset. She was doing all of this for me, and I couldn’t see it. I was an ungrateful snipe for true.
The last five days were miserable. Rachel refused to acknowledge me only when she put water and food in my bowl. When she talked to Starlet, they gossiped about me. In fact, Rachel told Starlet that she might be considering releasing me. Every night, I would sob—in fear for Osiris and guiltiness towards Rachel. I have pride, and I would not mean such things. It felt like any snow and ice on my heart was beginning to be washed off, or melting off by warmth. This is why I had a heavy heart towards both of them, because the more I had talked to Osiris, the less cold and aloof I was.
I heard Rachel walking upstairs with Starlet, chatting. She came into the computer room to see me lying down besides the monitor.
”Starlet, eject the CD,” Rachel asked softly. Starlet went up to the monitor. I gasped and charged at Starlet, biting her arm so hard that blood drew out.
“AGH!” Starlet pulled back, “You fucking bitch!”
I spat out her blood and growled, and my fur was bristling.
“Look, Sovereign, I’m getting tired of this. This is unhealthy and rude, so I am taking away this—EW! What the hell is this?” Rachel hissed when she touched the screen. White, mucus rubbed on her finger…and I realized that is when I ejaculated.
“Looks like cum or puss,” Starlet said. Rachel stared at me with an angry gleam in her eye.
“I’m taking that fucking CD out!” Rachel said pushing me away and ejecting the CD. I grabbed her arm with my teeth and tore her flesh. She screamed and dropped the CD, but I caught it in my tails and safely stored it in my fur. I ran out the room and sprinted downstairs.
If she wanted me released, then fuck, I’m leaving her. I ran out the house and through the lawn, and darted down the street until I was sure that I was out of sight from that bitch-witch.

I ran into the overgrowth, learning that there was a large nearby lake. Knowing information was saved on the CD, all I had to do was find a new pokemon trainer. I had a feeling that Rachel would track me with one of her other, rarely used pokemon, but I didn’t care. I needed out and so did Osiris. Carefully, I cradled the CD in my fur so it wouldn’t be scratched or exposed to the elements. I sprinted across the street again until I got to a house, owned by some old couple I have seen couple of times. I scratched on the door frantically, tears welling in my eyes.
An old lady, I believe, her name was Abigail, opened the door.
”Oh, what a lovely and beautiful creature,” she said softly, “Whatever are you doing here?”
I made some moans and whimpers and walked inside her house and hid behind the couch, crouching low and protecting the CD.
“What is this you have here?” Abigail said, taking it away from me, but gently, and handling the CD with care. She put in her computer and the program came on. Osiris appeared in his holographic form when that happened.
“Sovereign! You need to go-go-go-go-go-go back!” He said, with static in his mouth.
“What’s wrong?” I barked. Abigail looked surprised.
“I-I-I-I-I’m f-f-f-f-fading. I-I-I-I-I c-c-c-c-can’t last f-f-f-f-for.. zzzzzzzz…ever, I can’t l-l-l-l-l-l-last f-f-f-forever.”
“But you said-”
“I was l-l-l-l-lying,” Osiris cried. “I-I-I-I-I-If you take me out of the h-h-h-house, my program will become corrupt…a-a-a-and I c-c-c-c-c-c-can’t work a-a-a-a-a-anymore.”
“NO!” I said, tears rolling down my eyes. I was bitter with sadness and many other horrible, mixed emotions.
“R-R-R-R-Rachel loves you! I l-l-l-l-love you! But o-o-o-o-our love-love-love-love isn’t meant…. Zzzzzzzz…. to be! Our love is simply an illusion…of the heart.”
“I don’t want to leave you!” I barked. I noticed that his Umbreon form was beginning to fade.
“You h-h-h-h-have no c-c-c-choice. Be with somebody, you will f-f-f-fall in love a-a-a-again, and this time, it will be with some one real. This is my last advice-advice-advice to you.”
His voice was weak and slowing down, becoming deeper as his image became glitch-like boxes.
“But I love you! I never want to leave you!” I was already bawling. Abigail patted me, seeming to understand what was going on.
“N-n-n-no….I’m
sorry…Sovereign…I…can’t…last…much…longer…now…you…had…me…for…many…months…now…but…I…still…love…you…I…will…always-always-always…Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz”
His image faded and the computer shut down. I broke down crying. This is what I get for loving. It was the same with Growlithe, but now Osiris…it wasn’t his fault. It was mine. I shouldn’t get so sentimental that when something goes wrong, I have a sea of tears coming from my eyes. But I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t help but to feel like this was my fault. I fell in love, with something that was imagined. And now because of it, I would never see Osiris again.
The doorbell rang and the old lady answered. There was Rachel, with tears falling down her face, red, frantic and panicking.
“Is a Ninetails here? Black with blue markings, smaller than usual…and…”
“Calm down, sonny,” Abigail said, “She’s right over there.”
Rachel saw me crying and whimpering and then she looked over to the hundreds of sparkling fragments in the air that was floating. She could piece together what happened. She gave me a hug, a tight hug as we both sobbed into each other’s shoulder.
