Chapter 7

Sudden Stop to Fights

We flew to The Hidden Village of Sand and right to the Kazekage’s office. I landed on the balcony and walked right in. I walked right past the Kazekage, out his office door, and down the hallways of the building looking for Gaara.



“Who are you and what do you want?” asked a male voice that sounded a little evil.



I slowly turned around to see Gaara and stammered out, “I-I-I’m K-Kihara. My-my sister K-Ka-Kahiri told me she g-g-gave you a c-clue for me.”



“If you trust me enough to come take it from my hand you can have it,” he said and held it between two fingers in front of his face.



I swallowed my fear and urged myself to walk forward. I slowly found that I wasn’t nearly as scared as I thought, I was actually trying not to let myself run to him and kiss him senseless. He must have sensed this because he began taking steps toward me. Slowly at first so as not to surprise me then faster until we met in the middle. He took my hand and placed the piece of paper in my hand, then pulled my face to his with a hand at the back of my neck.



Dad’s clearing of his throat is what brought us back to our senses. We stepped apart and Gaara walked down the hall and out of sight. I turned around and looked up at Dad.



“You simply couldn’t help yourself could you?” he asked.



“Nope. I’ve got all the pieces now though,” I said.



"Along with a kiss or two from Itachi, Neji, and then Gaara. Well let\'s see what the clue is, and just how much you remember from your reading of our home library," he said.



I laughed and pulled all the pieces out of the pocket in my dress. I laid them on the floor and pieced them together.

"Fruits Basket, right?" I asked.



"That\'s correct," he said.



"Great off to talk to Haru then!" I exclaimed and opened my wings thinking of Haru.



When I opened my eyes I was in the middle of a forest. I noticed that in this world my senses were heightened. My eyesight and hearing had increased tenfold without my wings opened.



"Are we in the right place?" I asked.



"I believe so but I can\'t be sure. Let\'s find a clearing," he said walking out in front of me.



"Dad, how about we try going this way," I suggested pointing in the opposite direction.



"Why?" he asked.



"Because I can hear people talking and it gets louder in this direction," I said.



"Well, that makes sense. Let\'s go that way," Dad said with a little chuckle.



We walked through the forest and kept changing direction on my call. It seemed like the forest never ended, but the voices kept getting louder and clearer.



When we finally escaped the forest we found ourselves in, what I think was the Sohma family garden behind the main house. The source of the voices was coming from Akito\'s room, I think. I believe that the two voices were Akito and Haru, but I can\'t be sure.



"So, where to now?" Dad asked.



"I want to see if I\'m right in thinking that the voices are Akito and Haru," I said and started walking toward the building.



I pulled myself onto the porch outside the room from which the voices were coming and walked over to the door. I slowly opened the door just enough to stick my head in to look inside. It was as I thought Akito and Haru were the source of the noise. They were fighting.



"HOW DARE YOU CHOOSE THAT WITCH OVER ME! YOUR GOD!" Akito yelled.



"RIN IS NOT A WITCH! IF YOU KEEP HURTING HER YOU\'RE GOING TO KEEP PUSHING ME AWAY!" Haru yelled back.



"DON\'T SAY THAT! DON\'T EVEN THINK THAT! EVERYONE WILL COME BACK TO ME EVERYONE! WE\'LL BE TOGETHER AND BE HAPPY! THAT WITCH WILL NOT RUIN OUR HAPPIENESS!" Akito screamed.



"Umm . . . sorry to interrupt, but do you realize how much of a ruckus you two are making?" I questioned guessing there wasn\'t any better moment than now to make my presence known.



"Who the hell are you?" Akito demanded.



"I\'d be glad to tell you who I am if you\'d ask nicely," I said knowing that I was treading on dangerous territory.



"Who do you think you are to be commanding me?" questioned Akito who got angrier if possible.



"Like I said, ask nicely and I\'ll tell you," I said still feeling bold.



"If you like your face you\'ll just tell him your name," Haru suggested his anger seeming to fizzle out.



"No, I want to be asked nicely. I will not answer when commanded to do so," I explained.



"Are you being a menus already?" Dad asked from behind me scaring the crap out of me.



"Not on purpose. If one of them would just simply ask I would answer without hesitation. Neither of them have, so I\'m standing my ground and being stubborn," I explained.



"Would you be so kind as to tell us your name ma\'am?" Haru asked sincerely and to be honest it scared me because I wasn\'t ready for that.



"Well hello! I\'m Kihara and this is my father Kiato Kyuseishu," I said bowing slightly to Haru.



"Nice to meet you Kihara. Nice to see you again Kiato-sensei," Haru said.



"WHAT!? YOU\'VE SEEN THIS MAN BEFORE!?" Akito shrieked.



"Wait! You\'ve been here and Amestris before!? That\'s so unfair. Was that before or after I was born?" I questioned.



"Before. Waaaaaaaaaaaay before. I was about your age when I started traveling," Dad said.



"Yes, I\'ve seen Kiato-sensei before. I learned different fighting techniques from him. Shisho only teaches Martial Arts. Kiato-sensei teaches all kinds of fighting techniques," Haru explained.



"What do you mean traveling?" Akito asked.



"You wouldn\'t believe me if I told you," Dad said.



"Tell me and we\'ll see. You\'ll find I can believe quite a bit," Akito said.



"This is weirder than people turning into animals because someone of the opposite gender hugged them," I said without thinking, "Oops."



"You know about the curse?" Akito asked looking flabbergasted.



"Well, yeah. You see where we come from this is all just a series of books and episodes of an anime," I said and then Dad bonked me on the head from behind.



"We\'re books and TV shows? So our future is set? No changes to it what so ever. So what happens?" Haru asked.



"Well-" I started but Dad placed a hand over my mouth.



"It already has changed since we arrived. We don\'t know what will happen anymore. The most she can tell you is what was supposed to happen before either of us showed up," Dad said and took his hand from my mouth.



"That\'s what I was going to say," I said spinning around and glaring at Dad.



"Oh right, I so do not believe that. You wanted to tell them about what happened at the end of the series. If you do it won\'t happen so I advise you to keep your mouth shut," Dad said sternly.



"Do you realize just how much that sounds like an order?" I asked.



"Please don\'t," Dad said.



"Don\'t what?" Haru asked.



"Did you really think I would be dumb enough to say anything about that? Honestly I wouldn\'t do that," I said.



"If you two are finished babbling, then get out! All three of you get out!" Akito yelled.



We quickly left Akito\'s room and headed out of the Sohma estate.



"So, what are you here for Kihara?" Haru asked.



"Well . . . I was kinda playing hide and seek with my twin sister, but I think I could hang around here for a while," I said.



"I\'d like that you see like someone I think you\'d be very interested in getting to know," Haru said "What do you say we go to Sensei\'s?"



"Sure. I\'d love to," I said knowing that the only one other than teachers Haru called Sensei was Shigure.



"Great I\'ll lead the way," he said and took my hand leading the way.



I could feel my face getting hotter just by being in contact with another of the guys I liked. In Fruits Basket I liked: Haru, Kureno, Kyo, Momiji, and Yuki. We walked through the woods toward Shigure\'s house with Haru, who was still holding my hand.



Suddenly I thought of something.



What would happen if I hugged them? I thought.



I really wanted to try it but I didn\'t want to hurt any of them if I were to turn them into an animal.



"Hey Haru?" I asked.



"Hmm?" he asked.



"I want to try something, but I want you to close your eyes and don\'t move first," I said.



"Okay," he said.



He stopped, closed his eyes, and stood completely still.



"Could you let go of my hand too?" I asked.



"Sure," he said and blushed as he let go of my hand.



I looked at Dad trying to tell him not to stop me, and then I walked right in front of Haru. I slowly brought my arms around his shoulders, and laid my head on his chest. I stayed there for a few minutes then Haru consciously or not brought his arms around me and laid his head on top of mine.



Suddenly Haru seemed to realize what he was doing and pushed me away by the shoulders so that I was at arm’s length and stared at me.



"What happened and why didn\'t I change?" he asked alarmed.



"It\'s simple, I hugged you. As for why you didn\'t change I really have no clue. It\'s a good thing though right?" I asked hoping against hope that he said yes or responded in a positive way.

He pulled me back to him and hugged me close. I was so happy I started crying which scared him a little.



"Kihara, are you okay? Did I hurt you? Please tell me why you\'re crying," Haru begged.



"I\'m fine. I\'m just so happy you\'re not mad," I said laughing and crying while I looked into Haru\'s gray eyes.



He hugged me again and then captured my lips with his. I was so surprised that my tears instantly stopped. I pulled back when he ran his tongue across my bottom lip.



"Maybe we should get going," Dad suggested pulling us apart and placing himself between us.



"Yes sir, Kiato-sensei," Haru said and lead the way to Shigure\'s house.



Surprisingly he didn\'t get lost this time and we made it just as it got dark. Haru knocked on the door and Kyo answered.



"What are you doing here Haru? And who are these guys with you?" Kyo asked sounding annoyed.



"Kyo, this is Kihara Kyuseishu and her dad Kiato-sensei. This is Kyo. They\'ve already seen Akito so we\'ll find out tomorrow if anything happens," Haru said.



"Why\'d you bring them here then?" Kyo asked.



"Kihara wanted to come here," Haru said.



"Who\'s at the door Kyo?" Shigure said as he came up behind Kyo, "Ha-chan! And who\'s with you?"



"I\'m Kihara and this is my father Kiato Kyuseishu," I said bowing slightly.



"Kihara, this is Sensei," Haru said.



"The name\'s Shigure," he said, "Well, don\'t be rude Kyo, let them in."



Kyo moved aside to let us in and even though I\'d seen it in the manga and anime the house was even more amazing in person. After Haru explained that Dad and I know about the curse, Shigure took Dad and I on a tour of the house, and we ended up running into Tohru who was cooking supper and Yuki reading a book. I ended up talking to Haru, Kyo, and Yuki about martial arts, and for once Kyo and Yuki weren\'t fighting. At least not physically. They kept arguing, and to be honest I was getting kind of sick of it.



"QUIET!" I yelled and everyone in the room shut up, "If you guys can\'t even go ten minutes without fighting I\'m going to pummel you, got it?"



Everyone in the room including Dad and Shigure nodded. I couldn\'t help but mentally smirk.



"Thank you. Now back to what we were talking about," I said.



The conversations picked back up and Kyo and Yuki made sure not to argue anymore for the next hour, which surprised me.



A little while later Tohru brought supper out and we ate a nice peaceful meal. Mostly because Kyo and Yuki were too afraid to start a fight or I would pummel them. Now I can say that I don\'t honestly think I could pummel either of them, but I don\'t want them to know that.
