***********************************************
Robin almost couldn\'t believe what she had just heard, and as she stood dumbstruck, she heard the doctor open the door to Amons room and leave her to visit with him alone.
A witch... Amon was a witch. It was hard to believe, but at the same time, it made perfect sense. Still in awe, the young fire witch willed her feet to move and slowly she entered the dark room of her once partner. The room was dark, but she spotted him instantly. He lay quietly upon the white bed, asleep. To her, he almost looked like an angel. The hospital gown was white, as were the sheets and contrasted greatly with his dark black hair, accenting his perfect features even more than they already were. He was beautiful, and Robin felt a great relief wash over her as she noticed that he wasn\'t too hurt.
A few bruises could be seen, but other than that, from the looks of him and the sounds of the machines he was hooked up to, he sounded as well as looked pretty good. She would see to it of course that within the next few days he would be more than ok. She was bound and determined to get him back to his old self... well maybe even better than that, but she wouldn\'t push it. But she knew it would be no picknick, an awakening could be a touch process, and most likely he had already been going through some of it. Hopefully the hard part was over, but that was nothing to worry about right now. Now she needed to be here for him.
Carefully and quietly she pulled on of the few chairs in the room up to the bed he was layed upon, and quietly she sat down upon it to sit beside him and wait for him to wake up.
She knew he wouldn\'t wake up for quite some time, but she didn\'t want to be too far from him, just in case. She had already been far enough from him in the past few years, from this moment on she would be by his side for good. Slowly she felt her body begin to relax, and in the quietness of the hospital room she let her thoughts drift through the past and the bright future she would create for the two of them. Wrapping her thoughts and the blanket she had been provided, she allowed her body to relax.
The fact that Amon was awakening constantly re-entered her mind as she remembered countless hunts as well as his hatred for what he was becoming. Perhaps he had changed in the past few years, he had after all changed towards her, but just because he felt differently for her didn\'t mean he would be able to accept what was happening within his own body. Her mind continued to fret over these disturbing thoughts as sleep began to claim her body, and slowly Robin felt her thoughts ebb away into nothingness as she shut down and her being accepted the much needed sleep she had been deprived of.
****************************************
Amon didn\'t know where he was, but all he did know was he felt better than he had in quite sometime. He also knew that he wasn\'t alone, someone was in the room with him,and to be exact it was someone familiar. Slowly he came to conscienceness and opened his dark black eyes to take in his surroundings.
A large white room welcomed him as his eyes opened to it. It appeared as though he were in a hospital room and for a minute he couldn\'t remember why he was where he was. Slowly the events from the previous evening began to settle in around him as he became fully awake. He had been in one of his drunken stupors and had passed out on someone\'s porch. Then a young woman had come outside and brought him into her warm house to get dry and treated for his wounds. Then he remembered seeing Robin, and realizing that the woman who had helped him was Robin. This in turn freaked him out and he ran away from her. He got outside and something honked at him, and the next thing he knew he was laying on the ground with people all around him, one of which was Robin. Then he blacked out.
Now he was laying here in the hospital with only a few minor aches and pains.
\'Must\'ve been a dream,\' he thought, shifting a bit. He knew it had to be, there really was no other logical explanation for what had happened. God knows that had he really seen Robin he wouldn\'t have run from her, he would\'ve been more than delighted to see her. The only explanation was that he had just been having some horrible dream and then he was here waking up in the hospital. Some guy probably found him in the gutter and decided to take pity upon him.
Accepting this excuse he sat back and let himself relax against the pillow behind him. Slowly his eyes began to adjust, and he began to take in his surroundings. Nothing was too unusual, it was just your average ordinary hospital room. Except for one thing, he had a visitor, a young woman in black. She was asleep as of now, wrapped in a large blanket and sitting very near to his bed. Her soft blond hair was down and around her face. To say he was shocked was a bit of an understatement. Who would be visiting him?
He studied her carefully, trying to recognize the soft ivory skin that seemed so familiar to him. Then he felt it, her small hand was holdinig onto his, and ever so softly she squeezed it, and his name was let loose from her soft pink lips.
Robin.
Robin was sitting next to him, holding his hand. It seemed as though today was going to be full of surprises. He couldn\'t quite help it when he jerked suddenly at his realization, which in turn woke the sleeping witch up who still held onto his hand. He watched her carefully as her green eyes snapped open at his movement, and slowly her face moved to meet his dark gaze.
It really was her. He honestly couldn\'t believe his eyes. Robin now sat in front of him, and it was as though she couldn\'t take her eyes from him. In fact she looked slightly apprehensive.
Then it hit him. The events of his dream must\'ve been reality. Everything that happened must\'ve really taken place. He couldn\'t believe it, he really had run away from her. No wonder she looked slightly afraid of him. She merely continued to stare at him, never breaking their contact, and guilt began to settle within Amon.
He tried to open his mouth to speak to her, but he was so parched that no sound could come out of him. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he looked around and tried again. And again nothing. He now couldn\'t even speak to her so that he could apologize. Frusteratingly he looked around, looking for what he didn\'t know, but Robin seemed to notice the problem, and immediately stood to get him some water.
He watched as she walked away from him, to a table close to his bed. There sat a bucket of ice chips and he watched her as she picked it up and regained her place at his side, pulling her chair closer to him. Her little hand reached inside of the bucket and picked up a chip of ice. Slowly she held it up to his lips, careful not to provoke him, he guessed at least. He had been quite a pain the other night, and he supposed she was still a bit cautious around him and her actions.
The cool of the ice pressed against his chapped lips, and slowly he opened his mouth to accept what she was holding. She looked beautiful, even though she appeared to be exhausted. Her soft green eyes were tired, but they hadn\'t lost any of their warmth and love. Her hair was loose, and Amon couldn\'t remember a time when he had seen her this way. It was refreshing, and slowly her eyes rose to meet his. He felt her body relax, and his gaze never broke from hers as her delicate fingertips slipped passed his lips and into his mouth, securing the ice cube\'s entry.
Then they were gone, and Amon sucked carefully at the cold cube in his mouth. Worry was still written all over her face, but a smile from him was enough to erase her doubt.
Although his mouth was less dry, Amon still couldn\'t think of a thing to say. What could he say? He had been horrible to her the night before. In fact, he was very surprised to see her sitting beside him at all. He knew he needed to say something to her, and desperately he tried yet again.
Before he could even move his mouth to say something, anything for that matter, Robin spoke first.
\"Are you ok Amon?\" her voice was just as soft and caring as it had always been. A smile came to his mouth, and again he couldn\'t muster his voice to come to him with an answer for her. He continued to suck on the ice, and merely nodded at her. Thankfully she seemed fairly satisified and again, he received a smile from her.
They sat in silence for some time, not wanting to ruin the moment they were sharing with each other. They had been quietly enjoying each others company when the door opened and the doctor walked in.
A smile lit his face at seeing Amon up, and he approached the man upon the bed.
\"Amon, how are you feeling?\" the doctor asked, looking at the printouts from the machines, smiling the entire time. Obviously he was quite pleased with whatever the results were.
Somehow Amon found his voice for the doctor.
\"Fine.\" Amon ground out, the gruffness of his voice surprising even him. Robin merely smiled at him even more, gripping his hand in her own for support.
She had touched him again. She wasn\'t going to pull away her touch, and this comforting thought settled within him, calming his nerves even more. Perhaps she wasn\'t angry with him, and hopefully she could forgive him for his actions the other night.
Nothing seemed to enter his mind for the rest of the time except her touch. Slowly his gaze left the doctor\'s and he allowed it to fall to hers and a smile was graced upon him once more. He gripped her hand carefully in his own, and answered the doctor\'s questions, not really knowing what he was asking and not really caring. All he knew what that what was around him was real, and he was beyond relieved. Robin\'s stare never left his as the doctor continued on, and before he knew it, the doctor had said \'Good.\' and left through the door once again.
They were alone yet again.
**************************************
Robin merely continued to stare at Amon as the doctor spoke to him. He had accepted her touch, and didn\'t seem to be too startled. Thank god. Evidentally last night had been some sort of fluke, and today he was ok. Though he still appeared to be quite stunned that she was there in front of him. His hand gripped hers rather tightly, as if he was afraid she would disappear at any moment. Though it was a bit tight, she allowed his touch, not wanting to startle or disrupt his contentment. Perhaps, his awakening wouldn\'t be too hard on him, and perhaps he would adjust to living with her just fine.
The doctor had the answer to his last question and walked out the door. He had just said that Amon could be released, and Amon had agreed fully that he was able to leave the hospital today. The door shut, signaling the doctor had left for the release forms, but Amon never broke eye contact from Robin. She was sure he didn\'t understand any of what he had been asked, he looked to dazed as he stared at her. A small smile came to her face at this realization, and his face mirrored hers as a smile fell upon his mouth.
\"Amon?\" Robin asked, applying pressure to the hand that was in her own, giving it a comforting squeeze as she murmured his name, gaining his attention fully, pulling the dazed look from him. \"Do you know what the doctor just said?\"
A confused look came to his face, and his black hair shook from side to side as his head moved in a negative motion. She smiled once more at him and told him the previous conversation he had just had.
\"The doctor said you could leave today, and he went to go get your release forms. You\'re going to be staying with me, is that ok?\" she asked, holding her breath and waiting for his response.
The light in his eyes seemed to dim at her words, and slowly her own mood began to decline. He didn\'t seem to be too pleased at her previous question.
\"Robin...\" he began, the gruffness of his voice bringing tears to her eyes, as fear began to seep into her being. He was going to reject her once again. \"I\'m sorry... but how could you welcome me back into your home? Especially after last night...\" he murmured, not able to look at her.
The breath that she had been deprived of quickly filled her lungs once again as she realized that he wasn\'t rejecting her, but was angry at his previous actions the night before. Quickly she sat beside him, picking his hand up once again, and gaining his attention fully. At least she could calm his apprehension about this.
Tenderly she stroked the hair that covered his forehead out of his face, and leaned in close to him. \"Amon,\" she murmured, resting her forehead against his, \"I want you to stay with me, I understand what happened last night, and it\'s ok.\"
The look in his eyes showed a hint of relief, but still they seemed to question her. \"But...\" he murmured, beginning to protest, but she wouldn\'t have any of it. They had spent too much time away, and she wasn\'t the same young woman he had once known. She was all grown up, and she wouldn\'t take no for an answer. He would stay with her, and he wouldn\'t be able to protest.
\"No buts Amon, you\'re coming with me. We\'ve been apart far too long.\" With that, she closed the distance between the two of them, and rested her soft lips against the chapped skin of his. It was sweet and perfect. The gentle touch of their lips was enough to satisfy any craving she had had for the past few years, and slowly she felt him relax beneath her touch. She never imagined she would be kissing him, much less that it would be her to make the first move. In all reality it didn\'t matter, she was at last near him like she had wanted to be.
Carefully, not really wanting to break their kiss, she pulled back from him, smiling down at his pleased and shocked expression. No more words were uttered, and there wasn\'t really time as the door clicked open and the doctor reappeared with the forms for Amon to sign.
Robin watched as the doctor walked in as well as another person. A nurse was accompanying the doctor, carrying Amons clothes with her, and quickly she was escorting Robin out of the room so Amon and the doctor could be alone. Amon didn\'t seem pleased with this, but a quick kiss to his cheek seemed to quiet him down, and Robin left him to finish any business he had to with the doctor.
*********************************
Robin had kissed him. That was all he could think as the doctor spoke to him about being released and what he should do to take better care of himself. He wasn\'t really paying attention, and he honestly couldn\'t believe he was acting this childish. It was one kiss, but he still couldn\'t believe it. He could still feel the soft pressure of her lips against his still, and it was almost too overwhelming. She was a lot different than he remembered, and perhaps that was what shocked him most. The Robin he knew never would\'ve been so bold. A smile came to his face as this new change within the young witch he knew began to settle within his mind, he kind of liked it.
The doctor continued to rattle on, and he never heard a word of it as he talked. He really didn\'t care, all he wanted was to get out of this hospital, and back to Robin outside. He was going to stay with her, she was being kind enough to take him in. In a sense that surprised him too. He had been horrible the other night, but she didn\'t seem to care. While the whole idea of her kindness still perplexed him, he wasn\'t going to waste much time dwelling on it. He would take whatever good fortune he could get. This had been the moment he had been searching for these past few years and he sure as hell wasn\'t going to throw it away like he had almost done. Not this time.
Robin was taking him in, and perhaps they could build something to last. They had a lot to discuss, and he had to get to know her all over again. She really had changed, but at the same time she was the same as he remembered her to be so long ago. Pulling on his coat, he turned around to face the doctor that now held the pen out to him for him to sign his papers with. Quickly he signed, and with this done, stepped back out into the hall, meeting the blond witch with a small smile upon his face.
Taking her hand, he turned away from the doctor, and walked out of the hospital with the young fire witch by his side. Now they would have plenty of time with each other, and this time nothing would come between them either. As they left the hospital, the cool wind of London wipped against his face, telling him that today was a fresh start to a new life. The sun peaked through the dissapating clouds, and Amon could feel the warmth beat down upon his neglected body. Yes, a fresh start was exactly what was being given. No other words were uttered, only a smile was shared as the two witches left the hospital to start over right where they had left off.
It wasn\'t going to be a picknick, Amon knew that much. Something within him was changing, but he knew he could handle it with Robin beside him.
Looking down at the young woman beside him, he watched as her eyes settled on his own, and a small smile came to her face as a single nod was given as his answer. Yes, he would be just fine.
With that single nod, they continued on in silence as they made their way to her home.
