By the end of the meal Kyo and Yuki ended up fighting anyway. I let it go until Kyo\'s kick almost clipped my head. I jumped up, stomped over to Kyo, kneed him in the stomach, threw in a few quick well-aimed punches, and kicked him hard enough to send him flying out the open door and to the edge of the forest. Then I turned to Yuki and just smiled.
"I really don\'t like that wicked gleam in your eyes," he gulped.
"What wicked gleam? I\'m just smiling because it took me less time to beat him than it ever takes you," I said.
"That\'s because I don\'t actually intend to fight him if I ever really wanted to fight him he wouldn\'t stand a chance," he said.
"Oh really, then prove to me how strong you are. Look past the fact that I\'m a girl and fight me," I challenged.
"You really think you can beat me?" he asked.
"Bring it on!" I yelled.
Apparently something snapped inside of Yuki because he charged at me and I dodged then he came at me again but I dove away causing him to slide off the porch as he went out the doors I took advantage of this and jumped on top of him. We ended up wrestling around on the ground for a while, and no matter what moves he tried I always found a way to end up back on top of him. Finally I flung myself off of him and let him get back to his feet. Once he got to his feet again I charged at him but when he dove away I was ready for it, and flipped sideways to land on the other side of him.
I didn\'t even give him time to react as I dealt a series of quick and accurate jabs to his chest, stomach, and sides. When he finally tried to punch me I did a couple back flips and made him come to me. To be real honest this was the most fun I\'d had since I was growing up in the village with Mom. My concentration faltered as I thought about Mom and Yuki managed to land a couple punches, but I recovered and dealt a few more of my quick jabs. I ended it by kicking Yuki straight into the air, and when he came back down I punched him into a tree at the edge of the woods.
I looked from Kyo to Yuki and smiled. Then I looked back toward the house. Dad, Haru, and Shigure were clapping and Tohru was worried about Kyo and Yuki.
"I took . . . it easy . . . on them . . . they should be . . . fine," I said as I slowly phased into darkness.
Even though I was taking it easy on them I still hadn\'t really had any sleep in a while and using this much energy all at once wasn\'t the best thing to do. I couldn\'t help but see just how strong they were though.
When I woke up I was laying in a make shift bed of blankets. Dad was beside me on one side and Haru was sitting against the wall sleeping on my other side. I slowly sat up and got out of bed. I checked the clock in the kitchen to find that it was 3:00 AM.
Why do I always wake up ungodly early? I asked myself.
I decided to go for a walk, so after writing a note and leaving it in Dad\'s hand I walked outside. I heard something from the roof and went to investigate. I found Kyo fast asleep up there.
And I thought I slept in weird places, I said to myself.
I carefully lifted Kyo so that I didn\'t wake him, but man, did he weigh more than I was expecting. I opened my wings silently and flew to his balcony. I opened the door to his room with my foot, walked to his bed. laid him down, and covered him up. I was about to go back out when he grabbed my hand. I spun around to see him awake.
"Kihara . . . what\'s on your back?" he asked looking freaked out.
I snapped my head around to see that being the dumb ass that I am I forgot to close my wings.
"What does it look like?" I asked.
"How do you have wings? Experimentation? Some weird twist of fate?" Kyo guessed and I had to laugh inwardly.
"As amusing as your guesses are, they\'re incorrect. I was born with them. To be real honest I didn\'t even know I had them until Dad played a very nasty trick on me to reveal them," I said, "Do they bother you?"
"No. Not at all. They make you look even more beautiful than when I first saw you," he said.
"Can I ask you to please keep them a secret for me then?" I asked.
"Only if you give me a ride while I\'m conscious," he said.
"Deal," I said and shook his hand.
I then took him back to the balcony and stood on the railing. He was soon standing beside me. I grabbed him by the waist, jumped off the rail, and dropped until Kyo\'s feet almost touched the ground and I swooped up to gain altitude. My grip slipped from his waist to his armpits and he placed his toes behind my knees.
"How do you like your flight?" I asked.
"Is this how it feels all the time," he asked.
"That depends, how\'s it feel?" I asked.
"I . . . feel . . . free. For the first time since I started high school I feel free. Like not even Akito can touch me," he said.
"Yup! This is how it feels all the time," I said, "Tell me when you start to get numb."
"Okay," he said.
We flew around the city for a while then I felt like going a little further to let him see more of the world. I ended up flying all over Japan until he started to get numb. I flew back as fast as I could even though that would just make him even colder. I just needed to get him back to Shigure\'s so that he could dive under blankets and stay there for a while.
When we landed on the balcony I too was cold and I was tired again. I felt like just passing out on the balcony, but I didn\'t dare show my weakness to Kyo. At least not intentionally.
"Kihara, are you sure you can make it downstairs?" Kyo asked.
"Yeah, I should be fine," I said though I honestly wasn\'t even sure I could walk three steps without falling from exhaustion.
"Why don\'t you just stay with me for the night?" Kyo offered.
"I\'m not sure Dad or Haru would take kindly to that," I said.
"Oh, are you and Haru together then?" he asked.
"No! I don\'t belong to anyone," I said.
"Then what\'s the problem?" Kyo asked.
"How about I give you a kiss and you let me go back downstairs and get some sleep?" I suggested.
"Fine," he said and pulled me to him capturing my lips in a passionate kiss.
Once again I pulled away as he begged to enter my mouth. I really wasn\'t ready for that kind of kiss yet. At least not from a manga character. That kind of kiss I\'m saving for whoever Neji saw me with in the future.
"Now, get under those covers and get warm or you\'ll catch Hypothermia," I said pulling myself from his embrace.
"Night Kihara," he called as I walked to his door.
"Good-night Kyo," I said closing his door.
I walked down the hall away from Kyo\'s room. I didn\'t honestly think I could make it down the stairs and was really tempted to just collapse right here at the top of the stairs.
Suddenly out of nowhere Yuki tapped me on the shoulder.
"Kihara-san, do you need help down the stairs?" he asked.
"Oh Yuki, you scared me. I was just thinking of how I was gonna get back downstairs. Yes I\'d love some help. I\'m not sure if I\'m awake enough to not trip over my feet," I said.
"If you\'re that tired then why don\'t I just carry you?" he offered.
"I don\'t need you to carry me. I just need you to make sure I don\'t tumble down the stairs,\' I said being stubborn.
"Your father was right when he said you were stubborn, but I simply can\'t let you walk if you\'re liable to fall down the stairs," he said and promptly flung me over his shoulder.
"Yuki! This is sooooooo not fair! Put me down!" I yelled.
"Shhhhhhhhhhhh! You\'ll wake everyone up," he said as he slowly made his way down the stairs.
"What do I have to do to make you put me down?" I asked thoroughly pissed off.
"Take a guess," he said.
Without thinking I swung myself up once he reached the bottom of the stairs so that I was sitting on his shoulder, and leaned down to kiss him. It was a passionate kiss as he slowly brought me down so that I was on my feet. He ran his tongue along my bottom lip and I pulled away.
What is with guys and wanting to make out the first time we kiss? I thought.
"Good-night Yuki," I said and walked back to my bed of blankets before he had a chance to respond.
I woke up a few hours later to the smell of Tohru\'s cooking. I walked into the kitchen to see what was for breakfast.
"Oh Kihara-san, you startled me. Your father said that you were supposed to stay in bed for a while. He said you exhausted yourself by not getting enough sleep," Tohru said.
"Yeah, but he knows I don\'t listen to anything that sounds anywhere close to an order," I said, "So what are you cooking?"
"Eggs and bacon," she replied.
"Kihara, you\'re supposed to be resting," Dad said coming up behind me.
"I\'m sorry sir, I tried to get her to go back and rest but she refused. She said she won\'t listen if it sounds anywhere close to an order," Tohru said.
"It\'s not your fault Tohru. Kihara just hates being obedient. If she would do as she\'s told then she wouldn\'t wear out as easily," he said.
"And if you would stop talking about me like I\'m not here you might just escape my foot in your mouth," I said to Dad.
"You certainly are mouthy today aren\'t you?" he asked.
"No I\'m just a little annoyed," I said.
"What did your three AM walk not go well?" he asked.
"It turned into a three AM flight and a couple kisses," I whispered to him.
"Why don\'t you go talk to Haru and we can get out of here," he suggested.
"I like it here thank you very much," I said and walked off.
I found Haru in the living room reading a book.
"Hey Haru," I said.
"Hey," he said, "Are you feeling better?"
"I feel great actually," I said.
