Chapter 7: Sweet Promise
Just as Touya planned his alarm clock went off at five minutes to five o'clock in the morning. He got up from his curled position, his muscles screaming in pain as they worked and walked over to the clock which he promptly picked up and unplugged. He then went to the bathroom and stared at the mirror, looking at his dark reflection for a moment before turning on the light. He almost ended up brushing his lips until he remembered to open his mouth to brush his teeth and nearly combed his shirt before realizing his hair was on his head and not his shoulder.
Twenty minutes after five found Touya outside of his house, a little planner with paper and pen in his hand and bus fare in his pocket as he walked down to the stop. He stood and waited for about three minutes regretting not bringing a jacket before the bus pulled up. He got on, paid his fare and walked to the back where he sat and began going through the planner and the paper and marking days off for appointments, work, and classes for Yuki. He'd mark down more once he knew when Yuki would have rehab.
By six thirty Touya was starting to be a little less fuzzy and was off the bus walking toward the student parking lot. He walked over to his jeep and looked in the windshield. He blinked and looked again, then swore angrily as he pulled off the two parking tickets and four notes asking him to move the jeep for the past two days. He was fairly sour as he got in his jeep but became even more sour when he got a disgusting whiff of rotting meat. He glared at the bag on the passengers sea seat that had held his dinner for two nights ago.
He quickly threw it out and rolled all his windows down to help air the jeep out some before getting in and putting it in gear. The jeep growled to life as it moved out and headed to the nearest liquor store where he bought some car freshener and sprayed the jeep in it before getting in and only being five minutes off his schedule when he walked into the hospital lobby.
Two lefts, two rights, and another left and he found himself at the cafeteria. He looked over the counter at all the possibilities and decided on french toast and potatoes with a black coffee. He smiled and paid the lady at the register before retreating to a corner table with his food drink and newspaper.
He unfurled the paper and sat there enjoying the near silence as he read up on the current events and ate his breakfast.
Around eight thirty he got up and walked out and to the gift shop after disposing of his trash. He looked around the inside and ended up deciding on a white stuffed bunny and a card saying get well. He wrote a nice little note expressing his care for Yuki and how he hoped he'd be able to help him get better on the inside, then signed and dated it. The lady behind the counter smiled at him and he returned the smile before shuffling up to Yuki's room.
Nine on the dot and he was there in Yuki's room. Yuki was already dressed, but had fallen back asleep waiting for Touya to come. His eyes were closed gently, his mouth slightly parted as he breathed quietly.
Touya couldn't resist. He leaned in and gently kissed Yuki.
Like a princess from a fairy tale Yuki's eyes blinked open and focused on Touya. He smiled softly.
"Morning To-ya."
Touya smiled. "Morning. I have a gift for you." he said as he showed the bunny and card.
Yuki grinned and hugged the bunny as he looked at Touya. "You didn't have to."
"I wanted to."
"If you're sure."
"I am." Touya said. "Now let's get you checked out of here and home for a little, huh?"
Yuki nodded and got up, shuffling beside Touya to the desk where he signed out. All the nurses gathered to aww over the couple and wish them the best as they left. Yuki smiled sweetly at them and waved goodbye while Touya opened the door and led Yuki out and to his jeep.
The first thing they did was to go pick Yuki's things up from his tiny apartment and move him into Touya's studio. Touya made Yuki sit on his bed and tell him what went in the jeep and what could stay. Yuki tried to pack some of his things but Touya wouldn't let him. he kept snatching them away until finally he gave in and gave Yuki a tiny box to pack with figurines. This made Yuki feel somewhat useful even if it was a tiny job, and he smiled as he continued to tell Touya what to take. Soon the jeep was loaded to it's max and the two were headed away and toward Touya's house.
Unpacking was surprisingly easier than packing and soon everything had been put in it's proper place. Touya and Yuki both smiled. Then Touya stood behind Yuki and hugged him gently, his arms wrapping around Yuki's chest in a protective manner. Yuki blushed to the roots of his hair and turned around to share a gentle kiss with Touya.
After that they went to a fast food restaurant where Touya showed Yuki the planner. Yuki was thrilled and hugged Touya happily.
They went to a nearby rehab clinic and checked it out before Yuki signed in. While Yuki went through some basic pay plans and a starter counseling Touya went to tour the little shops next door.
Soon Yuki joined him and they were off to school where Yuki sat through and explained everything with two of his teachers and got his homework.
The rest of the night dissolved into homework, pizza, and a movie. It was some bad B movie and they ended up laughing as the monster's zipper was showing. When the movie ended they both reached for the case and laughed as their fingers meshed on the cover. Then Touya leaned in and kissed Yuki softly.
They got ready for bed and snuggled against each other, Touya keeping his hands above the waist, and Yuki's head pillowed on his chest. Yuki yawned wide.
"Better not do that too wide. The flies might find a new home."
Yuki gently smacked his chest. "Don't be rude." He blinked as he realized something.
"Hey To-ya."
"What?"
"We didn't go see Yue."
There was a moment of quiet that made Yuki think that he'd said the wrong thing.
"No, he called last night. He told me not to come."
"But..."
Touya chuckled. "No, he only wants the devil to cry for him, so I'll let him. Besides, he doesn't need me. He's confessing."
Yuki blinked and looked sad. he held onto Touya tightly. "I'm so sorry To-ya!"
"It's not your fault. We'll let him die with his dignity."
Yuki nodded and cuddled as close as possible. "To-ya...?"
"Yeah?"
"When I'm alright again... I... I want to make love with you."
Touya blinked and thought it over for a moment. "I tell you what bunny, if you get better and we can get through the rest of this semester with our heads above water, we'll make love."
Yuki smiled. “It’s a promise To-ya.”
