Summary: Weiss' first mission with Leon on board- things don't go as planned
Author notes: *...* is private thoughts, /.../ indicates Chinese, //...// is telepathy, normal quotes is japanese and single quotes is English. Chris is Leon's little brother and he's about 21 in this story. Leon's friend D is out of the picture (has one gold eye and one purple eye), D's father (also called D) was killed by Leon, but his body reincarnated itself and he has no memory of his previous life (purple eyes), and D's grandfather flys around in babbit form (called Sofu D) (gold eyes) Hopefully that clears up some of the confusion. Also, to help understand what the D's are, someone on the main PSOH ml posted a description of a Japanese mythical creature, and it's posted at the end of this chapter. It's not an exact match, but it's pretty close.
Chapter 8
Schwartz
"So what's the deal?" Shuldich asked, holding a pack of ice to his head in an attempt to banish the remnants of a nasty headache. The patriarch had been true to his word and the migraine had hit the telepath at the edge of Chinatown when he and Nagi had gone to stake out Weiss' new HQ. The pain was so excruciating that he had to stop the car before he hit something. The telekinetic had left him then and tried go in on foot only to return shortly thereafter looking completely shook up and he announced flatly that there was no way he could be persuaded to go back into that neighborhood.
Now both of them sat sullenly on the couch in their rented apartment waiting for their leader's response to their report. Farfarello sat apparently oblivious to the others and absently poked at himself with a sharp knife.
"It's obvious they've found themselves decent protection. Some connection to Orcot, no doubt." He sighed. It was frustrating to have his farsight blurred so much in the presence of the mysterious American Weiss. It was bad enough where Weiss had been before, but it was as if the Chinatown area was amplifying that blind spot a hundredfold. Not good. Three of them were effectively neutralized and there was no way he was sending Farfarello in alone. He pushed his glasses up. "It's obvious we can't go to them. We'll have to draw them out to us somehow."
Schuldich smiled nastily. "According to Nagi here, our sniper friend has family and friends only a days drive from here. I'm sure we could go there and find someone suitable to bring back with us." Even now he had not completely recovered the use of his arm, and was more than eager to return the pain that had been given him.

It took a while, but Ken managed to gather up everyone and they convened in the living room once more. Leon and Aya were the last ones to make it downstairs, not surprisingly, considering their state of undress when the knock on Leon's door came. Ken made certain to claim the easy chair first, leaving Youji to sit next to the 'love birds' on the couch.
Once they were all settled, Ken passed the faxed sheets to Aya, who spent several minutes reading them with both blondes looking over his shoulders. He seemed to be having trouble concentrating, though, and he rubbed at his temples several times. Eventually he did get through it. The first words Weiss' leader spoke were to Leon. "What do these characters mean?" he asked, indicating the Chinese writing next to their target's name.
"Oh, that means he's a dark mage, if you believe in that kinda stuff."
"This mission is right up your alley, then," Ken muttered. He was still severely unnerved by Leon.
Leon heard him and frowned. "I don't do magic. I might have weird abilities, but I don't try to cast spells or any shit like that."
"Magic or no, our target seems to be very hard to get to. Previous attempts to remove him have been unsuccessful," Aya pointed out. "Leon, do you think that he might have any powers similar to Schwartz?" After fighting Schwartz and Esset, not to mention the addition of Leon to the team, he was fairly willing to consider the possibility of dealing with someone of a psychic or supernatural nature.
Leon shrugged. "I've never heard of the guy. I couldn't tell you."
Youji seemed lost in thought for a moment. "Ne, Leo-kun, you should be able to slip past this guy's defenses with no problem, right?"
"If he doesn't keep security cameras everywhere, sure. I can hide from people, but not machines. Besides, like I said, I don't deal in the occult, so I can't help you much there."
The playboy sighed. "It's times like this I miss the bishounen. No offense Aya, but the is tis ten times better than you when it comes to breaking into security systems."
The redhead merely nodded and grunted. Youji couldn't be sure, but Aya seemed to be a bit out of it.
"Hey, I'm not saying I'm not willing to go in alone- that's nothing new for me. I just need to know whether I should cover my face or not," Leon explained.
*Must be nice,* Youji thought bitterly, *to be able to enter someone's inner sanctum unnoticed and kill the target without mowing down a myriad of guards and henchmen on the way in and out.*
As the others started to formulate and discuss the plan (with a lot of sniping between Leon and Ken- Ken really didn't want to be paired up with the 'freak', and that particular description didn't set well with the blonde, to say the least) he started to shift uneasily on the couch. He felt odd, queasy, but in a pleasurable way, if that made any sense. Finally he had to cross his legs to hide his growing erection. What was going on?
Then he noticed Leon's cologne. He remembered it from the night Schwartz attacked them- there had been a faint trace of it in the American's room. Now it was more potent, sweeter. *must have splashed on a little too much today...* he thought. He tried to follow the conversation going on around him, but was only vaguely aware of Ken and Leon having some kind of heated argument and Aya for some reason not being able to take control of the situation.
Youji wiped the sweat from his forehead. He must be coming down with something. He pulled himself to his feet and headed upstairs to lie down for a while.
Leon turned his head in time to see him go and caught Ken's fist in his hand as he called out to his friend. "Hey Yotan, where're you going?" No answer. "Something's wrong," he announced and followed after the playboy, tossing his hotheaded teammate to the floor first.
He caught up to the other man in the hallway and grabbed him by the arm. "Hey, is something wrong?" he asked, sincerely concerned. Youji spun around and kissed him hard on the lips. Leon hesitated only a second before pushing his friend away. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!!" Something wasn't right- Youji hated Leon's flirtatious teasing, and thers abs absolutely no reason for the playboy to pull this sudden 180.
Youji clamped a hand over his mouth, horrified at what he had just done. Then realization dawned on him. "It's -you-!" he exclaimed, "Or that cologne of yours...whatever it is, it's affecting Aya, too. You're screwing with our hormones somehow...like, like when were out at the clubs and you seem to be able to attract anyone you want to you, but people there are at least a little tipsy so no one notices they're acting weird..." he was babbling now, but he wasn't thinking very straight.
It was Leon's turn to be horrified. "Look Yotan, I don't understand what just happened...you may be right, but I think you need to get away from me and take a cold shower, okay?"
Youji nodded and disappeared into his rooms. Maybe fled was a better description.
Aya moved to stand next to his lover.
"I'm...not wearing any cologne. I never wear cologne..." Leon said slowly.
"You always smell good. Like musk, and something sweet. That sweetness always gets stronger when we have sex." Aya was as blunt as always.
"And that's what we were doing when Ken called us downstairs..." Sweet...Did D have a sweet scent? Leon wondered, but he didn't know. The incense in the pet shop was too strong, and he certainly had never been intimate enough with the man to notice. For the moment, there was only was one thing he could think of to do, and he headed toward his rooms.
"Where are you going?"
"I need a shower, too. Whatever it is that's affecting you and Yo-tan, I have to get it off. He's acting strange and you look out of it. Just see if you can calm Ken down and let me know what the plan is, okay?"
Aya nodded and started to leave.
"Ran?" The redhead stopped in his tracks.
"Yes?"
"Look...I'm really sorry. About what's happened between us. I didn't know, honest."
"It doesn't matter. I don't mind." It was the truth. Aya was enjoying himself immensely, more than he had allowed himself to in a long time. He quickly embraced Leon and kissed him before closing the door behind him.
On the way to the shower he passed by You Mangy Bastard who was lounging on the bed. "Mrowr. Oraange haair came baaack with younnngg daaarrrk hairrr."
"Shit! Where are they now?" Leon asked, alarmed.
The cat smirked evilly. "Orrraange hairr haaad to sstop- they hurrrt hisss heead. The otheerrr got a naaasssty frright."
Leon released the breath he was holding. "They left, then?"
"Mrrr, yesss."
"Thank heavens for that," he said. "Still, I gotta wonder...why is Weiss needed when there is obviously at least one guy here who can neutralize Schwartz?"
"Rowrr...moossst huuumanss don't kill otheerrr huuumanss."
"Ugh. I can see how they wouldn't want to dirty their own hands. Thanks for the reminder. You're a lousy pet, you know that, don't you?"
You Mangy Bastard merely bared his teeth in an unpleasant grin.
"Yeah, you do, and you're proud of it to boot." He stalked off to the bathroom in a huff.
***
Aya went downstairs, in no mood to confront an irate Ken, never mind he had to do it anyway. At least his head was clearing. The first actual mission that they'd had since Leon joined (not accounting Schwartz' surprise attack) and the team's integrity was already threatened. Ken didn't trust Leon, and who knew what Youji thought of his friend and teammate now.
One thing was clear. Neither Abyssinian or Balinese could pair up with Bengal until Leon found some way to control his...pheremones, that seemed to be the most likely explanation. Aya couldn't help but wonder what kind of genetic experiment had been tested on the American. He certainly had fared better than Takatori Masafumi's creations. After all, he still looked human, and didn't seem to suffer from any ill effects. Not to mention the benefits he had gained...
The redhead found Ken downstairs, sitting on the couch and looking abashed. He looked up when he heard Aya approach. "Where are the others?"
"Youji's feeling ill and lying down. Leon has shut himself up in his rooms, and won't be out for a while."
"I'm sorry, houlhouldn't've lost my temper like that. It's just that Leon, whatever he is, uts uts me on edge. I don't trust him."
"Why not?"
"Why not?! Aya, we don't know what happened to him before he joined Kritiker! We don't even know if he's human anymore!"
"We all have pasts that we left behind and don't always share, yet we still trust each other. Leon took a risk in showing us what he can do, as much as he knows. And I do think that even he does not know exactly what happened to him, or everything that he is capable of."
"That's supposed to make me feel better?!"
"He hopes to gain our trust by sharing things with us that he has probably told no one since joining Kritiker. Even Persia was surprised when I asked him about Leon's unusual abilities- he wasn't aware of hinghing out of the ordinary. Ken, I need you to be able to work with him, no matter what you feel."
“Why do I have a bad feeling about this?”
“I want to send Leon in, but not alone as he would like me to. I may need you to back him up.”
“What? Why me?”
Aya’s eyes narrowed. “Because I need you to. I’m going to ask Leon later if he can hide another person as well as himself. I’ll check out the security system prior to you going in, disabling any cameras that might be present and Youji will handle getting us out once the job is done.”
Ken looked like he was about to protest, but Aya gave him a hard stare and he slumped back down onto the couch in defeat.
“If you see Leon, tell him I’m in my study.” He needed to get started on finding weaknesses in their target’s security so he could develop a more definite plan.
*****
It was several days later that they had finished their preparations. It turned out that Leon could hide others beside himself from sight, though it did take a lot of effort on his part.
So it was a very disgruntled Ken that followed closely behind his older teammate as they approached the target’s compound in the outlying edges of town. They hid behind a nearby hedge as they waited for Aya to shut down the security system.
Ken wore a different assassin outfit now, a black catsuit with a long black leather jacket over it. Leon wore a long black overcoat more like what Aya wore, with white trim. Under that he wore a deep blue shirt with a black collar bearing the white cross on it. His dark gray pants were tucked into a pair of black combat boots to complete the look.
After several minutes of delay, their leader‘s voice came over the headset. “Bengal, this is Abyssinian. It looks like I can’t disable the security system around the perimeter after all. We may have to abort the mission.”
“Hold on a second, Abyssinian. Can you tell me where the cameras and alarms sensors are? I can clear the wall easily enough if there’s a gap in the detection system. Ken gave Leon a ‘what are you kidding?!’ look. Fortunately Aya believed that the American knew what he was doing and started looking for a spot for him to make the jump.
“Bengal, I’ve found a place. Can you get Siberian in as well? I don’t want you going in alone.”
“Roger that. Where is it?”
Aya guided him to the spot and Leon grabbed Ken and bounded over the wall, clearing it by several feet.
“Abyssinian, this is Bengal,“ Leon spoke into his headset after landing on the other side with a very shaken Ken. “We’re in, heading toward the building. Where are the cameras pointed now?”
**
With Aya’s guidance the two slipped inside unnoticed. Ken looked around nervously as they passed guards and staff who took no notice of them. They finally made it to their target’s quarters and Leon quickly picked the lock and silently opened the door. To their shock and surprise, their target lay in a pool of blood on the floor. Behind the mangled corpse a pair of red eyes glowed out of the darkness.
“What is that?!” Ken whispered.
“I dunno, but I’ll take care of it,” Leon announced and went inside, closing the door behind him.
“Hey!!” Ken hissed, but it was too late. The door was locked, and all he could do was wait and try to stay out of sight.
Instinctively knowing what to do, the older Weiss took care of the thing that killed their target and he soon emerged from the room and nodded to his teammate.
“All done, let’s go,” Leon said.
“What the fuck were you thinking?! I’m supposed to be your back up!”
“And what, pray tell, would you have done if it had gotten past me?” Leon retorted acidly “I regenerate, you don’t. Come on, if I get any more tired I won‘t be able to keep the both of us hidden any more.”
Ken grumbled and reluctantly followed him back to their linkup with Youji a few blocks away.
They ran into Aya on the way. The redhead gave Leon a look that indicated that he was not pleased, but he said nothing.
“How’d it go?” Youji asked when they all got into the car.
“Somebody...or something else got to him first.” Ken said.
“Really? Strange. All that for nothing, ne?”
“Yeah.”
*********
“You were supposed to stay with Ken at all times.” Aya stated flatly once he and Leon were in the privacy of the blonde’s rooms.
“Look, I didn’t know what that thing that killed the guy was. I’m still not sure what the kind of monster it was. If it got past me, I didn’t want it going after Ken...”
“Ken can take care of himself.”
“Against humans yes, but Ran, that wasn’t a human in there.”
“Leon, how can you expect Ken trust you to do your job when you can’t trust him to do his?”
The tall blonde sighed and sat down on the couch. “I’m sorry. I just don’t want to see any of you guys get hurt if I can help it.”
Aya moved to stand in front of him. “We are all aware of the risks we take. And though you’re used to working alone you have to learn to depend on the rest of us, just as we depend on you. Do you really think that you can take on Schwartz by yourself?”
Leon didn’t answer. The redhead left him to his thoughts then and went to send in the mission report.
Once his lover had left, Leon pulled off his coat and pulled out a small statue and a piece of paper. He put the small figurine in his closet for safekeeping and examined the piece of paper. It was a contract, an agreement signed by his would-be target from a certain Count D’s pet shop.
*Must be D’s grandfather,* he thought and folded up the paper. The shop was relatively close, and he knew he should return the ‘pet’, but that involved a confrontation he would rather avoid. He didn’t like the guy, and the guy for fucking sure didn’t like him, definitely not after shooting his son dead.
He tossed the contract into a drawer to deal with it later and proceeded to change out of his assassin gear.

Um, there's a possible squick factor in this part. It's a DxChris lemon, but if you didn't like my story, 'Delivery' you probably won't like this part either. You won't miss anything by not reading it.

And at a certain pet shop...
Chris lay motionless on the bed, the only sign of life was the slight rise and fall of his chest with each shallow breath. Strange shadows cast over his pale skin in the dim light. His pajamas had long since been discarded in the heat of the herb-induced fever.
D gently sat down on the bed next to him. He softly stroked his long fingers across the now cool skin of the young human. It was time.
He unbuttoned his Cheongsam and let the silky material slide off his arms to pool around his feet on the floor. His silk pants followed immediately after. Disrobed, he looked even more like a china doll, soft light reflecting off the paleness of his flawless skin.
With smooth movements he made his way to the bed. He leaned over the prone blond and kissed him gently on the lips, eliciting a quiet murmur from him.
Shadows seemed to descend from the ceiling, uncoiling and revealing themselves to be the tendrils of a ratlarglarge plant. They wound themselves around the human's body, but not with the intent to restrain. Rather, they lovingly caressed him, just as D ran his hands down his lover's torso. Chris moaned sluggishly at the contact, still caught in a drug-like haze.
After a few minutes, root-like appendages sprouted from the vines and buried themselves in every inch of skin they contacted, arms, legs, neck, and abdomen. The blond gasped and cried out inarticulately. It wasn't painful, though, quite the opposite. Pleasure radiated out from each point the roots entered his body.
D lay next to his beloved, sensually kissing the large blond while he waited for the chanbeinbeing made to Chris' body to be made. The process actually took several hours, and the young human was shuddering from the pervasive pleasure that gripped every fiber of his being. Once they were done, the tendrils lifted away, leaving the root system in the human's body.
Now came the next stage. What appeared to be a large flower bud came down and unfurled, exposing a very phallic pistil in the center of the petals. It glistened with a clear sap, and D carefully spread his lover's legs so it could gain entrance to the human's body.
It was pure ecstasy for Chris as it entered him. He was still in a state where he could not think only feel, and what he felt was sexual pleasure beyond anything he'd ever experienced before.
D clutched him tightly as the plant thrust itself into the blonde, murmuring words of love in his native Cantonese. His long nails left deep gouges in the human's flesh, but the root tendrils emerged and pulled the wounds shut.
Not that it mattered. Chris could feel no pain, only pleasure, and he moaned and writhed in his lover's grip. It felt so good... D started to groan in pleasure too, it was so close. The plant pumped itself harder into the human's body, and the kami bit down hard on his lover's neck. At that point, the pistil injected something into the blonde's waiting body and withdrew. D's cry of completion was muffled as he was sucking the human's sweet blood, but he limited himself to a few sips, then pulled away himself, his cheeks flushed from orgasm.
The cloud fogging Chris' mind seemed to clear. //D?//
'I am here, my love.'
//What was that? It felt so incredible...//
D smiled. 'Merely consummating our love. Get some sleep.'
Chris suddenly felt exhausted and he nodded. D pulled the covers over them both and they drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.
