Well…I’m going to delve a little more into Risa’s character in this story as she actually plays more of an important role in this fic than I have currently given her proper introduction in it for. So...you know what the next chapter might be like…so, tell me what this chapter was like…I’d LOVE to receive REVIEWS!!! Please and thank-you.

Pairings: This makes me want to cry…but not really. Anyways…

A mere chain with an ugly black stone dangling from it. Nothing special. She’d give it back to him if she saw him. Which she did. Soon enough

And as he gazed into the frothing depths of the river, Daisuke felt his mind clear like its waters.
//I can’t run away from this and I can’t give up. If I do…what kind of leader would I be for this Kingdom anyways? Besides…even if he will never love me…I have to go on. Perhaps one day we will be together. I won’t give up.//
So the crimson-haired boy stood up, brushed off his clothing and prepared to go back to the cavern, leave with Satoshi and go back to the castle, hopefully without too much trouble from Dark or Krad.
He had just gotten a few steps away from the riverbank when he heard the crackling of leaves being crushed underneath the weight of someone’s feet.
//Is it Dark…or maybe Krad or Satoshi? Did they run after me?// But Daisuke was quite shocked to discover that the sounds of those footsteps had actually belonged to Lady Risa. And here she emerged from the brush of trees, looking slightly deterred but none too worse for the ware, her brown eyes, startled no doubt, to see the boy who stood before her.
“Oh! Prince Daisuke!” She uttered. “I wasn’t really expecting to see you in here…”
“Ah…I wasn’t expecting to see you here either, Lady Risa.”
She tucked a wayward strand of sable hair behind one ear. “Well, might I ask what brings you to these woods?”
Daisuke’s mind scrambled to find a suitable lie. “Uh—I was just…taking a walk to clear my mind…”
“I see.” //I wonder if he speaks the truth…//
“Yes…anyways…I should be getting back to the castle now so…I’ll see you tonight at the ball?”
“Wait Daisuke.” Risa’s voice became suddenly cold.
//I know I saw the phantom thief fly in these woods and I’m positive that Daisuke has something to do with all this. Never mind what he says.//
“I have something of yours that I found a ways back in the woods. You must have dropped it on your way.” Risa stretched out her hand to Daisuke, the jet pendulum cradled in her palm.
Daisuke didn’t know what to say. //I had no idea that I dropped it…but it must have fallen off while I was running.//
Struggling to keep his collected façade, Daisuke cupped his hands underneath hers and allowed Risa to drop the pendulum into his grasp.
“Th-thank-you Lady Risa.” Daisuke inclined his head and walked past her, making it two more steps further until once again she called out, this time her voice was edged with ice as sharp as knives and her question froze Daisuke in his place.
“What is your relationship with the phantom thief Dark?”
Daisuke gasped and managed to reply in shock. “Wh-who do you speak of Lady Risa?”
“Don’t play that hand with me, Daisuke. I know that you have a connection to Dark. I want to know just what it entails.”
Daisuke lowered his head. “I cannot speak of it to you, I apologize.”
Risa spoke again, this time wasting naught her words. “Are you lovers?” She questioned, attempting to confirm her fears.
Daisuke started, //Are we lovers? No…we couldn’t be but what should I say to her…?//
And confusion once again broke its way into Daisuke’s mind.

He clutched a hand to his chest in perpetual grief. Seeing Daisuke’s tears had opened something almost unbelievably frightening inside of Satoshi. He feared it was love.
//I love Daisuke and he’s in pain.// And the sharp onslaught of sorrow stabbed at the slave boy once again.
//How can I be feeling this way so suddenly? Is it weakness?//
But weakness or not, Satoshi couldn’t stand to be trapped in the cavern with Daisuke out in the forest alone, any longer.
He turned to face Dark and Krad, who both looked equally troubled.
“I’m going to find him. I don’t care of you’ll help me or not.” And with those few but effective words have been said, Satoshi started to walk towards the cavern’s wide open jowls.
The boy had not taken two steps before Dark yelled, “I’m coming with you!”
Satoshi’s eyes widened in astonishment before remembering, //Right. Dark loves Daisuke as well.//
He nodded in mute understanding and didn’t complain when Dark snatched him onto his back and into the air.
Krad just stood, still as a heavenly bust and just as angelic, his fair hair flowing with the drafts.

“Where do you think he’ll be?” Dark pressed.
“You expect me to know?” Satoshi replied, his voice laced with annoyance.
“Yes, I do! You’re close to him aren’t you?”
//Am I? Does time really measure knowledge? Or how close you’ll become to someone? I’ve only just began to see Daisuke as a person.//
“I think that maybe…Daisuke would go to the river, perhaps to clear his thoughts. Water is helpful like that isn’t it?”
Dark felt his own eyebrows raise although Satoshi could not see his face and thus would not sense the suspicion that Dark felt in relation to the slave boy’s past.
//I remember that woman’s face. Pale just like his. She had the same eyes as well. There was something that was different though. Perhaps he still has the spirit that she lost…I wonder if there was a relation.//
Dark twisted his neck around briefly before replying. “Yeah, it is. We’ll head there first.”
//There is no mistaking those eyes. There has to be some sort of relation.//
“Hey, are you an orphan? Or did your family send you to the castle for money?”
Satoshi’s eyes hardened. “Why?”
“You have resemblance to someone I once knew.”
//Well, I never actually knew her. But his resemblance to her is intriguing.//
Satoshi’s eyes lowered and a hazy colour replaced the normally clear blue shade.
“My mother is dead. She was shot down.” //In this forest.//
“Oh. I’m sorry to hear that. Well, that couldn’t have been her.” //It was her.//
“Yeah.”
“Hey! I think I see Daisuke and…who is that with him?”
Satoshi glanced down to where Dark indicated, his heart halting momentarily at the sight of red hair, before freezing to see that he was accompanied by Lady Risa.
//I remember her. Always ordering everyone around. Typical nobility.//
“That’s Lady Risa of the Harada line. Her family are friends of the King and Queen. Actually, I believe that they had wanted Daisuke and her to wed.”
Dark felt a pang of dislike for the girl immediately.
“Wait…what is she doing?! STOP!” Satoshi cried out but it had already happened. Risa’s silk wrapped arms had pushed Daisuke into the river. Satoshi lost all thought and feeling as he watched the swatch of crimson disappear into the roiling depths of clear water.

Well, another chapter accomplished. I do enjoy this. I humble myself in an apology for taking SUCH a looooooong time to update. It has been preying on my mind but I really haven’t had the time. Since school started, I’ve just been swamped. Plus, my uncle has been here so it is hard to reserve the computer.
These are my excuses. They are not adequate I realize but they are all I can offer.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Do stick around for the next one!!!
