A wall between

Chapter Nine

Robin blinked her eyes open and found herself staring at a greyish white ceiling. She suddenly became aware that her face hurt, not to mention she was laying down. She took a breath in, as she tried to figure out what had happened.

The first thing that came to mind was Amon. She sat up quickly, and immediately felt very dizzy. A hand pushed her back down with a gentle hand. Robin tried to resist, but at that point she could not.

A very tall and awkwardly thin man in a long white lab coat was the one that had stopped her from getting up.
“ You need to lay still for awhile, Mrs. Syunji.” Te man said, a soothing tone to his voice.
“ My husband?” She asked.

The man looked at her, his large brown eyes holding understanding in them.
“ He’s doing better than what he was.” He said with a tone of total calmness.

Robin thanked god under her breath, as she felt the weight lift from her. She looked at the man, as more thoughts popped into her head.
“ What happened to him?” She questioned the Doctor.
“ As far as we could tell, he had the living heck kicked out of him. Whoever beat him up, broke quite a few ribs, and the ribs puncture the lungs a few time. “ He took the time to explain. “ We repaired the damage, made sure of his breathing and now he is resting quite comfortably.”

She closed her eyes and sent another prayer of thanks up to the heavens, yet she wondered just what had happened to him.

The Doctor chuckled, as he could see the girl relax right there before his eye.
“ Now we have to talk about you...” The man started.
“ Me?” Asked Robin, puzzled.
“ You passed out right there in our hospital entrance way, that is what we have to talk about.”

Robin thought back for a moment, as the memory of what had happened was fuzzy, but there. She remembers feeling light headed, and seeing the ground coming up to meet her. That explained why her face was so sore. She felt a little embarrassed, she had not passed out like that ever she could remember.

He nodded, making sure the young girl knew that he was not kidding around when he had told her what had happened.
“ It is my expert opinion that you are under way too much stress right now.” He stated bluntly. “ Is this your first child?”
“ Yes, it is.” Robin answered.

The man folded his arms across his chest, signifying that what he had to say was of the utmost importance.
“ You have to limit your stress.” He said bluntly to his patient. “ The stress that your friend has explained to me has not hurt the baby yet, but if you keep letting yourself be under this amount of stress, it could cause a host of problems for you and your unborn child.”

The young hunter could not argue with the Doctor, she knew he was right. He was right on with it all, and she had thought the same thing too.
“ I want to keep you overnight here, to keep tabs on you.” The medical man said with a friendly grin. “ We will make sure you visit your husband after he has come out of the anaesthetic... but that won’t be for a few hours still. Right now, You just need to get some sleep for yourself.”

The man covered the young girl with the sheet that was on her and pattered her hand lightly.
“ I am going to tell your friend what I have told you... now it’s your job to fall asleep.” He pointed out. “ That is good for the baby... and you!”

Feeling so very drained, she welcomed the thought of a sleep right then. She nodded, and the man turned and left, feeling better that her husband was in no danger right now. Robin slipped into that sleep the doctor so desperately wanted for her with in moments.

Robin awoke some time later. She took a breath in, and looked up at the same ceiling she had seen the first time she had came to.

Robin was suddenly aware that she could hear someone in the room with her. She turned her head, and Miho was sitting there.
“ Hey there, little mama..” She said, seeing the girl was awake.
“ Miho...’ She said with a smile, happy to see the woman’s beaming smile.

Robin went to sit up, but found that her friend stopped her.
“ You have to stay laying and not get up for two very good reasons.” The woman said. “ One is that is what the doctor has prescribed for you, lots of sleep.”
“ The other?” Puzzled the girl, not wanting to venture what the other part of it was.
“ You can’t get up ‘cause your naked.” The woman giggled.

Robin could feel the way the sheets were over here that she was stark naked under the covering. Robin just giggled at the thought of her being naked in the hospital was funny.
“ They would be both good arguments, wouldn’t they?” She giggled.
“ I would say so.” Said Miho, laughing along with the tawny haired girl..

Robin then got serious.
“ Amon?” She said, as the worry of the man she loved came flooding back to her.
“ He ‘s fine, he awoke a hour ago, then fell back asleep.”
“ An hour ago?”
“ Sure, you’ve been asleep for about five hours.” Miho said with a smile.

Robin could not believe that. She just rubbed her forehead, the thought of her falling asleep like that was amazing. She just then had a thought that needed to be answered.
“ Does Amon know about me...”
“ He does.” She said flatly. “ He overheard the doctor talking about you, and wanted to know right then and there what was wrong with you.”

Robin gulped. She did not want her husband to worry, not after what happened to him, yet she felt relived too that he knew.
“ The doctor will make sure you two see each other tomorrow.” Said Miho, smiling sweetly robin. “ He said it would help the both of you out to do just that.”

Miho stood up, her face showing the tiredness.
“ I should go... we still have to track down that witch.” She said. “ We will all come and visit later tomorrow... even the chief.”
“ Did he say that?” Questioned the girl, not fully believing just what she heard.
“ That was my reaction too...” Giggled the short brown haired lady. “ The Chief said it with is own mouth- surprised the hell outta me too.”

Both hunters laughed, seemingly the stress of the last little bit ebbing away from the both of them. Miho left the room quickly and Robin settle back, she could actually feel the sleep wanting to come over here again.

The questions of what happened would have to come from her husband, along with the other questions that were attached to it. She could not believe that someone would have done that, or actually succeeded in doing it.

Sleep rapidly overtook her thoughts, and she fell into a very sound sleep, one that only the dreams of her husband could penetrate.
