Chapter Nine – Snitch

Shuichi (POV)

I wake up about 9am and get dressed. Picking up one of the shopping bags, I leave the hotel and decide to try Ken’s house first. I haven’t heard anything about the former members of Ask. I wonder what they’re doing now.

Using a payphone I call his number, when he answers I hang up. Gaining entrance to the apartment building, I stop outside his door, slipping on the balaclava. I take out the gun and knock on the door.

As soon as he opens it, I barge in, kicking the door shut. I slam him against the door, and point the gun under his chin.

“One word and your dead.”

I smirk. He doesn’t make a sound. I can feel his body shaking uncontrollably.

“I’m going to ask you a question. If I don’t like the answer, you’ll get a bullet in the leg…got it?” When he nods, I continue. “Where is Taki staying?”

“I don’t know, I swear. Ma-kun knows. I promise I’m telling the truth.”

“Good boy.” I mock him. “If you tell anyone, I’ll be back, and don’t even think about warning your friend. If you do, I will hunt you down and kill you…understood?”

He nods. But just in case I hit him over the head with the gun barrel. I watch him fall to the fall unconscious. Opening the door, I slip out into the hallway, and take the balaclava off, putting it in the shopping bag, along with the gun.

I leave quickly, making my way to Ma-kun’s place. Once again I use a payphone to make sure he’s in. When he answers he sounds pissed. I think I woke him up. I hang up, and once again gain entry to the block of apartments, courtesy of my lock picking device. Alex has taught me so much.

When the balaclava’s on and the guns in my hand, I knock on the door. He takes a few moments to open the door. I repeat the process and pin him to the wall with the gun pointed under his chin.

“Who the fuck are you?” He shouts.

“Shut it…one more word without my permission, and your brains will be splattered on the wall behind you.”

He swallows, and nods his head.

“Where is Taki staying? And don’t you dare say you don’t know because I have already been informed that you know.”

He closes his eyes, and a tear makes its way down his cheek.

“He’s staying at a house in Yokohama. Please don’t hurt him.”

I can’t help it, but I unleash my fury.

“Did you tell him that when he killed that young woman? He brutally murdered her. Don’t you dare tell me what to do.”

His eyes widen, damn.

“Shindou-san…I’m sorry about your sister, I really am, but I think Taki’s been mentally unhinged since Tohma pushed him in front of a car.”

“I don’t give a fuck. He killed my sister, and he’s going to pay. Now give me his address, or I’ll fucking kill you.”

After he’s giving me his address, I let him slide to the floor and walk away. His voice stops me.

“If you hurt him, I’ll tell the police it was you.”

I turn around slowly. I’ve got no choice. I raise the gun and aim for a headshot. I pull the trigger. The recoil’s not too bad. I watch as the small hole on his forehead starts leaking blood.

I stand and look for a second, before removing the balaclava. I walk out of the apartment in a daze. I know I had geared myself up to kill Taki, but I’ve just killed Ma-kun. I don’t know what I feel.

I feel numb, void of all emotion. I expect it will hit me soon, and it will hit me hard. But I can’t think of it now, I have to keep my mind on the task at hand.

As I’m walking back towards the hotel, my cell phone rings. I answer it in a daze.

“Moshi Moshi.”

“Shuichi.” Shit, it’s Yuki.

“What do you want?”

“Where are you?”

”Around.”

“Please tell me?”

“Why?”

“I’m worried about you…please tell me?”

I sigh and tell him which hotel I’m staying at. I hang up before he can say anything. No doubt he’ll turn up soon.
