4 Months, some odd hours earlier: I Don't Care

Matt typed away at the laptop. Eyes flickering back and forth from open windows and programs every few seconds but his mind wasn't really on his work. No, it was still on Mello. His lips quirked into a satisfied grin as he thought of the nights with him.

Yeah, nights.

Mello had ended up staying longer than the promised night and Matt hadn't even had to ask either; Mello had wanted it. Those few extra nights had been full of scratches and bites and screams; and he had loved every second of it. Mello's taste still lingered on his tongue and the memory of how his skin felt under his fingertips was imprinted on Matt's mind.

But that had been almost a week and a half ago now and he was onto other things despite his mind constantly wandering to the elusive blond.

He would have loved to crawl back to the casino and ask for more, but it would have to wait until the new assignment was finished, if Mello was even still working there with how much Matt had given him.

Two days prior Matt had finally received the e-mail he'd been waiting for with the contact information of his new employers. He had called them and been given his task over the phone. It wasn't hard in terms of hacking or the prep time, at least not the first part.

Once he had done this portion of the work he was to call and receive a second and final portion he was to complete and confirm before getting his payment. He was slightly curious about all the cloak and dagger going ons with his employer though. It made him almost want to look into them, which he never did on principle alone.

Not to mention if they found out he would never be trusted again for business with them and it could even be grounds for killing him. Which Matt was not a fan of happening for obvious reasons.

And yet he found himself glancing at the so far blank tab he'd opened in the middle of the hack and itching to do some research on his employers. Matt did a lot of dodgy things for a lot of dodgy people, but there really was something that nagged at him, made him uneasy the longer he left it.

With an annoyed sigh he paused the progress on the hack, freezing all his work and closing the tab without exiting. Cracking his fingers he set to work.

From what he knew these people were relative new comers to the area, and had no problem infringing on the local cartels turf. Which was ballsy in Matt's opinion. But either they had made a deal with the cartel, or the cartel hadn't thought they were a problem as their dealings had been left alone and unchecked.

There were no open disputes from what Matt could discern and it seemed odd to him. And even as he dug deeper he couldn't find anything. He began to wonder if the cartel had even caught on... if his employers had moles in the cartel. While it wasn't his concern what happened to either of the groups, he needed to know if this job was going to erupt things and cause chaos in the streets; because from what Matt was seeing, the first part of his job was to siphon money from one of the larger of the cartels accounts, managed by a mere soldier of the group, and deposit everything into his employers accounts. A nameless account.

Matt didn't really care about whom was stealing from whom so long as the streets didn't become a bloodbath and he wasn't caught in the middle. From the looks of it would probably be prudent to hightail it from his current living space earlier than usual.

He paused in his musing to light another cigarette, letting the smoke permeate the air as it hung from his lips. The first part of the job was nothing, he'd caused feuds to break out for far less, so Matt's thoughts were already onto the jobs second and currently unknown portion.

There was something he wasn't seeing. Something he had a feeling he wouldn't like.

But there was no way, from what he was seeing, to know what it was until he'd been given the orders.

He leaned back into his chair and avoided looking out the apartment. He was probably being watched at the moment. Frowning he knew he'd have to be careful how he packed his things and how obvious he made it that he was closing shop.

He'd still finish the job, just not from this place.

.

.

Three hours later his blinds were closed and he was sneaking the last of his things out the back door where he would come back for them after he'd ditched his current piece of shit car. Stalking back inside and using the front entrance this time he slouched into his truck and drove off. He'd left one light on, as though he'd planned to come back. Which of course no one would know otherwise.

He lost his tail after two blocks and dropped the car, switching the plate off for another one and tossing the used one in the garbage, and found a sweet cherry red camaro. It was a nice car. A nicer car than he usually stole. In fact it would be problematic to hide. But Matt liked fast rides and he held no doubt that she was fast.

He easily picked the lock and hotwired it, driving off without a backwards glance and to the backside of the apartment, and after making certain he wasn't being watched he loaded everything into the trunk and backseat.

Matt said a silent goodbye to the apartment and drove off, knowing he'd be spending a night in his new car before he'd have a chance to find another place. But he didn't mind it all that much, it would leave him no excuses to leave the job unfinished, and if he didn't have a residence they couldn't track him again.

Pulling to the side with a small sigh he cut the engine and stretched across the front seat, careful not to hit the horn, and dragged his laptop to the front.

It was time for another all nighter, this one of a far less pleasurable act.

AN: Um sorry for making people think I'd forgotten about this XD *sheepish grin* it was just taking me a while to write the smex. You see, I don't usually just sit down and write it, it takes me a while. Sometimes two or three sittings before I get a scene out. XD

but the normal plot related stuff goes easier.
