Through the Night (Part 1)

Through the Night
Gene wandered through the streets alone back to the pad that he shared with the rest of the gang. (Melfina/Suzuka/Jim/Aisha) “Why the hell did I drink so much tonight anyway?” He wondered angrily to himself. He sighed inwardly. “But I guess it’s just like any other night.” He continued walking, stumbling a bit in the darkness. “Any other night?” He thought to himself as he crossed the street. “You know, it’s not every night that you have to deal with the fact that there’s an assassin who is out to kill you.” Gene sighed, kicking a pebble. “But is is the life of an outlaw.” Gene thought, as he opened the door to his residence.
He slowly entered his place. Aisha was out cold, clutching the videogame she insisted on playing 24 hours a day. He saw the door to Suzuka’s room was shut and her light was off, so Gene assumed she was asleep. Gene could hear Jim snoring…but he didn’t see or hear Melfina anywhere. Gene checked his watch. “Shit…it’s late. If I want to have any chance of killing this guy before he kills me…then I better get some sleep.” Gene stumbled into his room, lazily shut the door halfway and fell onto his bed on his side.

Melfina had been in the bathroom when she heard Gene walk in. “Hm…bet he’s been out drinking…again.” She thought to herself, sighing a bit. Melfina looked at herself in the mirror. “I wonder if Gene even remembers the promise that he made to me…He said he’d find out why I was created…what my reason was for being alive. He said we’d find out together.” She thought, as tears welled up in her eyes. “I mean, he hasn’t even brought it up lately..” She thought sadly to herself. “I bet he’s forgotten all about it.” Melfina sighed sadly. “But why is this bothering me so much? I mean, Gene is busy trying to figure out a way to get to the Galactic Leyline. There are Kei Pirates after him…and the Enten Seven…hell, there’s an assassin who’s going to try to kill him tomorrow.” She thought, frowning at herself in the mirror. But deep down, Melfina knew what was really bothering her. Sure she wanted Gene to find out what her purpose was for living…but she wanted more from him…so much more. Melfina stared at herself in the mirror for a few moments. She knew from the moment she laid eyes on Gene..when he opened the suitcase she was in. Those burning brown eyes…that sexy red hair ^_^…all the battle scars that he wore on his body so proudly…that attitude..that look. She had loved Gene Starwind from the moment she laid eyes on him. But how was she to know if he felt the same way? Melfina felt deep emotions stirring in her heart..and in her very soul. She was distressed about the showdown that was taking place tomorrow between Gene and the assassin. During the time Mel had known him, Gene’s life had been threatened many many times. But she had never felt quite like this before..so scared and worried and so...insecure. She suddenly felt a burning need to let Gene know exactly
