Come Back To Me Riho!
Disclaimer: I don't own Nightwalker, but if I did the series wouldn't have ended :(
Alright, this is my first fan fiction. And I feel kinda silly writing one… but I have been reading them for years soooo… here goes.
WARNING: Parings: Shido / Riho… but there is a great deal of Yaoi involved too. And rape so if it bothers you do NOT read it. I tried to write as tactfully as possible.
Note: When you see little stars like this * Hello my inner mind * it means a character is thinking.
****************
Shido/Riho Pairing. Story takes place right after episode 12. However that horrible dream Shido had actually happened, with a few exceptions. One Riho didn’t die. I wouldn’t have much to write about if she did. And second neither did Yayoi. Unfortunately for Yayoi she was drained of almost all her blood and Shido did have to take her to the hospital. But she is fine if a bit weak and faintly. Last but not least Guni is in fact dead. I like the little fairy too, so it sucks, but oh well, can’t save everyone! Now Shido must once again face Riho, but he’s in for a surprise because Cain is keeping a close eye on him! Now on to the story! Wheeee!
****************
Shido was laying in his bed. The world seemed to be moving slower, or perhaps his heart just beat at a lesser pace. The room was muggy and quiet. The office was never quiet. It was eerie. Yayoi was still in the hospital. They had never seen someone so far drained that managed to recover. She had been in the hospital for two weeks. Two weeks, and nothing to eat. Nothing. The lack of strength was easy to focus on. Less painful than the memories. Shido still felt behind his ear for the little green fairy. It was odd not having his hair pulled at least 20 times a day. Riho was still out there. Guni would have wanted her back at the office, making coffee, or cleaning, or opening up the damn windows. *Its so hot in here, so muggy* He had not cried for Guni. Perhaps he could have if he hadn’t been so concerned about getting Yayoi to the hospital. But after that he went into a bit of shock, then emotional exhaustion took over completely when he had arrived at the office. He had slept for days. And now he could sleep no longer, perhaps because of the heat, perhaps because of the hunger. It was hard to tell. But every thing felt dull. Even his vision seemed to be less sharp.
He turned over to look at the tightly drawn curtains. If he tried he could hear the muffled sounds of the street. “Riho… come back to me.” *I can’t kill her* The thought surprised him. Not that he couldn’t but that he even thought about the possibility. She was his childe, his Riho, and his light in the darkness. * I am the one that turned her. I am the one that stole her light.* Groggily, he sat up in bed. His head immediately ached. “Riho… Riho… you were so innocent. What have I done?” He took his head in his hands, and tried to study his emotions. * Air I need Air… I need Riho… I can’t be like Cain. Never like Cain. If she wants to… no… she is too young.. she… she… is her own person but why, why did she turn to the darkness, why did she take life? Oh Guni * He brushed his hair back from his ear, yet she was not there.
A childish thought came to him. One he would not have normally entertained, but everything was wrong, and he needed some comfort. With that he unsteady rose and went to the curtains. Slowly, like his heart beat, he opened them and pulled the window open. The car noises were louder now, and a rush of cool air hit him. Shido steadied himself for a moment, leaning on the window and staring outwards. Then he unlached the screen and drew that up as well. It was a silly thought. A childish thought, that his Riho would come to him if he left the window open. But it was the only comfort he could reach for. Guni was gone, he moved his hair once more, and Yayoi was still in the hospital. Then he returned to hid and and allowed sleep to take him once more.
He awoke to the darkness once more. But a small warm shape was resting on his chest.
“STRAY CAT!” screamed Shido tossing it onto the floor. “Must have come in through the window…”
“I am NOT a cat! Certainly not a stray” Guni’s voice shouted back.
“Oh God, I must be dreaming.” Replied shido placing his head in his hands once more. This time he thought he was going to lose it and actually cry. He hated doing that. Hated doing it alone worst of all. Yet the dream persisted as Guni grasped a lock of his lavender hair and pulled it roughly.
“I come back here to look after your ass and this is the thanks I get! Well aren’t you going to say something! Say something! Hello! Are you even listening?! Do I even get a welcome back?!”
“You’re dead!” screamed Shido hoping it would wake him up. He grabbed the fairy and shook her. “Don’t you even know how to do that right?! You have to come back and torment my dreams as well?!” To that Guni promptly bit his hand and then floated above him.
“I would know if I was dead, thank you very much.”
“Well obviously you don’t!” Shido glared at her for but a moment, then his face softened. * No, no, no… I am… going to… wak… * But instead, he buried his head under a pillow and allowed the sobs to finally take him. He felt her tiny feet land on his shoulder.
“Shido?”
For two more days he slept, and woke once more. Thullyully the first dream had ended and not come again. Shido felt it was punishment somehow for denying his needed mourning for Guni. The window was blew air in through the curtains. The mugginess was at least passing. He had been sleeping in the same clothes since the day Guni died. His body felt weaker than it had before and he knew he needed Yayoi. That’s when green clouded his vision. He squinted knowing this was some sort of hunger effects but it stayed and eventually formed into a small green fairy. * I must be going mad. I must be having delusions. *
“I saw you die.” Well he if was going to have delusions, he supposed he could talk to them.
“Yeah that whole turning into dust thing was uncomfortable.” Replied Guni floating down. She landed on Shido’s chest and crossed her legs. “ I’ve never done that before. It was painful.” She shivered. “Urban fairies are not immortal. We die of old age, and then are reborn to a new body. We can reform ourselves if ‘unnatural’ causes account for our demise. I still have centuries to live yet. I am not about to let Brat girl just end it like that. Speaking of which where is Riho?”
“She’s…” Shido trained off still staring at Guni. She poked him in the nose. “Alright, Alright, I’m alive. Get over it. Where is Riho?” He sat up abruptly and she fell down into his lap feet tumbling over her head.
“Oh Guni. I thought you were dead. I thought I had lost you.” He said scooping her up. She poked him in the nose again.
“Don’t get mushy on me!”
“Ok Ok, I wouldn’t want that.” He smiled broadly.
“Where is-“
“She’s not here. She… got away… I don’t know if I should go after her.” He turned to look at the window and Guni flew to his shoulder.
“Of course you should! She is killing innocent people!”
“I know…”
“And you love her.”
“What?”
“You heard me.”
“I will not be like Cain. I-“ a sudden wave of dizziness struck him and he fell backwards groaning.
“Hey what’s wrong with you?”
“Yayoi has been in the hospital. I haven’t eaten for weeks…”
“She has to get out soon.”
“I hope.”
Guni realized Shido was in no shape to go anywhere, even looking for Riho. She decided her best and really, only course of action was to guard Shido, until he could feed again.

Alright, I lied and didn’t really kill Guni. But if I had said that in the beginning it would have ruined the surprise… and well I also realized I needed her in the next chapter and she therefore couldn’t be dead. Please forgive and review!!!!! : D
