Kougaiji’s Pain

Summary: What would happen to Kougaiji if everyone just stopped talking to him? What if there wasn’t someone to help him? This story has 2 chapters. That means 2 different endings.

Kougaiji walked through Houtu castle everything was going great the previous weekend they had just celebrated Lirien’s birthday. He was glad the Yayone and Lirien were getting along so great. He continued to walk then he arrived in his mothers chambers. “Mother I promise that I will save you from this, one day.” Then he left, seeing Lirien and Yayone straight ahead seeing them made him smile. So he decided to walk the other way, he was really happy that Yayone had found someone who would care for her.
As he continued to walk down the hall back to his own chambers he ran into Dokugakujin. “Hey Kou. What are we going to do about little missy’s request on the scriptures?” Kougaiji knew he was right he wasn’t able to locate them last weekend because of Lirien’s party. “We’ll work on it later, don’t forget about Lirien’s party last weekend that put us back a couple of days. But I’ll get back on it as soon as possible.” And Kougaiji walked away down the hall back to his chambers. The thing Dokugakujin was talking about was true they needed to get back to work on that or he would never be able to set his mother free.
Later that evening Lirien came and brought some food to Kougaiji cause he hadn’t left his room since he left Dokugakujin in the hallway earlier he had been looking for the scriptures non-stop and he was getting tired. “Here ya go bro. Some food straight from the kitchen.” Kougaiji was happy that his sister cared so much for his well being. “I’ll eat it later Lirien I promise.” And he heard her walk out of the door with “I’m going to go play with Yayone now, see ya later.” Kougaiji was a little hurt by this, Lirien only seemed to want to bother Yayone now a days. He let out a long sigh, even Dokugakujin had gotten a girlfriend. This place sure was getting boring.
Lirien dropped by later to see if Kougaiji had eaten anything, but when she walked in the only thing that was eaten were the sweetbuns. Kougaiji was asleep hunched over the table, so she put a blanket over him and took the tray and left. Kougaiji woke the next morning when being summoned by Gyuokumon-Koshu . “Ah, Kougaiji I see you’ve awaken. How are the scriptures coming along?” Kougaiji hated this woman, “I haven’t been able to locate the other 4 yet but we’re getting close to finding one.” He had to lie about something or that would only make the witch more unbearable. “Good I hope to see it soon then, you may go.” And he left not wanting to look back.
Lirien ran by him at one point, but she soon turned around and looked back at him. “Have you seen Yayone? She isn’t in her room ad I can’t find her anywhere.” Kougaiji knew exactly where Yayone had run off too she as with her boyfriend. “Just leave Yayone alone today and I’ll take you out to buy a meatbun okay?” Lirien’s eyes lit up with those words. “Okay! Let’s go!” and she ran off to the flying dragon area. On his way to the pla place he ran into Dokugakujin, the thing was he had bite marks all over him. “She’s a little wild now and then.” Kougaiji just stood there stupefied with this “Right. I’m going to go out with Lirien for a little while. We’ll be back soon.” And he left.
Lirien was a ball of energy when they were out and about. “Hey Kou do you think Yayone is all right I mean, you know I haven’t seen her all day.” Kougaiji knew Lirien was right Yayone had started to avoid everyone so they had no clue what was going on with her. “I dunno Lirien, maybe she’s just busy.” Kougaiji was trying to make himself fell better than he did. Yayone was always by his side now she wasn’t same with Dokugakujin he was just way to occupied with his little girlfriend really to pay much attention to anyone anymore. Lirien was always with Yayone and Yaywas was always off somewhere.
When they arrived back at Houtu castle things were going a little slow so Kougaiji dropped a sleeping Lirien off in her room and went back to his, but on the way he ran into Yayone when he went to talk to her she said something that surprised him, “Just leave me alone! I don’t care about anything right now!” and she walked away in a huff. Kougaiji was confused and a little worried about Yayone, but in the end he decided not to ask questions. As he returned to his room he stopped by his mothers chamber. “I dunno know what’s wrong mother. Everyone seems to have better things to do now. Yayone is mad at something, Lirien is running around with Yayone now and Dokugakujin has a girlfriend that’s on his mind way to much. I just don’t know what to do anymore.”
Kougaiji looked up when someone entered. “Well, if it isn’t the young prince. Talking to his mother I see.” Kougaiji knew who it was and didn’t even have to ask the person to walk into the light. “Ni what do you want? Has mother asked for me?” Kougaiji really (sometimes) disliked this guy. “No I just thought I would talk to you myself. Yayone is going to be all right just give her time and I’m sure she’ll tell you what’s wrong. Dokugakujin might get over his girlfriend but I highly doubt it. And the princess still likes to hang out with you. Just give this all time I’m sure things will work out.” Kougaiji was surprised that Ni was giving him this information. “Why are you telling me this Ni? What are you planning?” Ni just smiled, “Nothing my Prince. Just helping yut aut a little.” And then Ni left. “Crazy quack.”
The next day Kougaiji tried to talk to Yayone to see what was wrong but he got the same answer from her this time her words seemed harsher than the night before. She really didn’t seem to care about anyone anymore. Lirien came running up right when Yayone was about to leave. “Yayone I’ve been looking every where for you! Where have you been?” Lirien was giving her same little smile. “I’m sorry Lirien, I was busy. Do you wanna go and play?” that really made Lirien smile. And they went off together. Kougaiji was feeling that something wasn’t right anymore. Didn’t anyone care about him anymore? He guessed not.
Dokugakujin had left for awhile just to be with his girlfriend, Yayone was still with Lirien. So Kougaiji decided to start working on finding more scriptures. Later Yayone came by to say she was sorry “Don’t you know we all love you Yayone you can tell us anything.” Yayone’s face looked somewhat distant “Well I don’t love you guys anymore like I said I don’t care about anyone anymore.” And as she left she slammed his door. Kougaiji did something he normally wouldn’t do he dropped the strong facade and broke down and cried. He really didn’t feel like anyone cared anymore.
Kougaiji’s mind worked over time with the things that were going on now. Lirien was only really hanging out with Yayone, Yayone hated everything, and Dokugakujin was just to occupied with his girlfriend. No one seemed to care about Kougaiji anymore. He was getting himself very depressed with the whole subject.
One day Yayone came to him and told him what was wrong in a way. “My boyfriend has been really mean to me, even as going as far as hitting me. And no one seems to care anymore.” Kougaiji was upset to hear this information. “Let me help you Yayone and tell me everything.” But that didn’t help the situation any. “Stop asking all these questions!” she yelled. Kougaiji then backed down and didn’t reply he just left her standing in the middle of the hall.
Later that night Kougaiji couldn’t take it anymore. No one didn’t care anymore. There was no Yayone to talk to, there was no Dokugakujin to tell his problems to anymore and Lirien was just to happy in her own little world. Who needed him anymore? Why was he here to begin with? Only to save his mother, that was his only purpose in life and it would stay that way until it was done. But what if the old hag was lying? What if there was no way to do it? Heh he was right there was no way for him to go on. He needed his friends and they were no longer there for him. He was all alone now, ae woe would be the rest of his life.
Kougaiji looked over at the stand next to his bead and picked up the knife that was sitting there he picked it up and decided to end it all. No more pain no more anything just utter silence. And then he did it he stabbed himself right through the heart. He wouldn’t be missed not in the least bit. And then it happened he was surrounded in the blackness, and he died with a smile on his face. It was all over he would feel no more pain.
