Chapter 1
“You’re WHAT!?” A familiar blonde female loomed over a smaller brunette, her size intimidating the petite other.
The brunette, Honda Tohru, ducked her head nervously, scuffing her toes on the ground. She had been afraid of this - her best-friend \'blowing up\' over her news.
“She’s involved with Kyo,” Tohru\'s other female friend, Hanajima, calmly repeated. The small goth was perched on the corner of the petite one\'s desk, her skirt tucked around her crossed knees and her hands folded in her lap.
Uotani scratched her head, her blonde locks wrapping around her long fingers, “but …GAH! I’ll never understand you Tohru! You and the prince I could see, but you and Kyon-Kyon, that’s beyond me!”
“Don’t call me THAT!” Said male yelled from across the classroom. Kyo pushed himself up from his seated position, the hair at the back of his neck prickling.
Uo\'s attention was suddenly divided, “bah! Go to hell!” She yelled back at the furious red-head.
A yelling contest ensued.
“As long as he makes you happy I have nothing against it,” Hana leant down closer to Tohru, who had reseated herself. Her long black hair tumbled over her shoulders and feathered around her pale face, a small smile spread across her usually emotionless face.
“Thank you Hana-chan,” Tohru whispered, a small unsure smile reflected upon her own lips.
“Damn Yankee!” Kyo yelled.
Hana sighed, “he has such nice waves, but they do not harmonize with Arisa’s waves.”
Tohru blinked.
The normally quiet Yuki sat at the other end of the classroom, attempting to read a novel. The book itself held little interest to him, so he found it difficult to continue, and with two loud mouth’s yelling across the classroom at each other, it was almost impossible for him to read at all.
His attention was divided yet a third time, this time to a small female. This female always held his attention, and she would always hold his attention. He always watched her, whether at school or at their mutual home. He held a guilty pleasure in watching the way she moved; smooth calculated movements, which happened to once in a while end in a blunder.
That day like any other she held his attention. Her short skirt was fanned out over her thighs as she sat on the hard plastic chair of the school desk. Her knees were pressed together as she tucked her feet under the chair, crossed at the ankles. Her blue fall blouse was, as always, perfectly pressed and cleaned; draping delicately over her small breasts and loosely shaping her sides. Her long hair was held at the sides by twin blue ribbons - blue ribbons she always wore.
The delicate female was Honda Tohru. His housemate; his quiet obsession.
The small onigiri held more than his attention; unknowingly she held his heart.
But she also held another heart, a heart she knew of.
Her relationship with a certain feline had almost crushed all that Yuki had managed to regain - his courage, his spirit, his light.
His courage had faltered, and upon seeing how much his cousin needed the small female, his courage faltered more. He couldn\'t steal her back; couldn\'t come crashing through the door like a knight from a fairy tale, come to steal back the one he loves from the hands of the evil doer, the evil doer who kidnapped his princess in the black of night from her very bed.
For in this story there was no evil doer.
Kyo needed her, and had gained her love justly. He needed her strength and her love. He needed them to overcome his past, his other self. Without her the Kyo they had all grown to know and ...love, would be lost.
But maybe ...just maybe ...
“Damn mouse!”
Yuki’s head popped up, startled from his musings. Completely un-amused he asked, “what is it now?” His violet eyes rolled as he diverted his attention back to his book.
“Don\'t roll your eyes at me, bakayaro! Come fight me!”
“Why? You are no challenge, you never have been, and I have a feeling you never will be,” Yuki responded without looking up, turning a page in the novel.
“Damn you!” Kyo jumped from his desk and made to go over to the nezumi.
He was once again distracted as a certain blonde yelled out, “Kyon-Kyon!”
He turned almost violently towards her, “WHAT!?”
Tohru couldn’t help but giggle at her friends. They were constantly battling amongst themselves, and although it seemed almost rivalry, she knew it was their way of showing affection for one another.
Kyo had changed since they started dating, he still fought at every available chance, but he also smiled more. He didn’t keep to himself as much and also shared his emotions, even if he hadn’t intended to.
Tohru had learned how to read the neko, even when he was in a quiet mood. The reading of his body language had become almost second nature to her, rivaling even Shigure\'s ability to read his younger cousins. The closeness and comfort she felt with the neko was surprising, but it was also entirely welcomed; by both parties.
“Tohru?”
The small brunette looked up at the mention of her name, “nani?”
“What are you doing after school today?” Hanajima asked.
“Ano …” Tohru looked to Kyo, who was quietly watching her. Like Yuki, he took a guilty pleasure in watching their onigiri, her movement mesmerized him. It was like watching water and silk, even when she miss-stepped and hit a perfectly good wall.
“She is free tonight,\" Yuki interrupted, knowing very well that she didn\'t work that night.
Kyo glared at his cousin as Tohru smiled brightly.
“Arisa and I were going to go to the movies, would you like to go?” Hana continued, tossing her long hair delicately over one shoulder as she cast a momentary glance at the prince.
Tohru lit up, “hai!”
“Oi, you want to go too Sohma?” Uo asked Yuki.
“I apologize, but I cannot go, I have homework,” he explained.
She shrugged, spinning around and leaning against her own desk to fix the neko with a glare, “Kyon-Kyon? You want to go?”
“Don’t call me that you damn Yankee! And why the hell would I want to go anywhere with you?”
Everyone sighed heavily as another yelling match ensued.
Kyo and Yuki walked home together after school that day in utter silence. The light breeze danced across the pair, their strange coloured locks feathering across their faces. The two kept a slight distance between themselves, as if to keep their personal boundaries from being breached. Yuki watched his feet as he walked, his hands in the pockets of his black jacket.
Catching the nezumi off guard Kyo spun upon him, grabbing the lapels of his jacket and forcing him to stop.
“I’ve HAD IT! What the hell is your problem!?” Kyo yelled, shoving at the other male.
Yuki rolled his eyes, “why are we having this conversation?”
\"Because you are pissing me off!\" The neko threw his hands in the air.
\"Don\'t I always piss you off?\" The violet-eyed teen asked almost innocently.
\"Damn it mouse that\'s not what I meant! Something is bothering you and it\'s affecting the whole damn household! Tohru is feeling down, and Shigure is pestering me non-stop! So would you stop being so high and mighty and just say something!\"
\"What do you think is bothering me?\" Yuki snapped, baring his teeth.
“Tohru,” Kyo\'s voice had dropped a level, coming out as a whisper.
“Who else?” The other male placed a hand on his hip, his attitude showing through his stance.
Kyo sighed in exasperation, “I know you love her!” His crimson eyes softened, “but I do too, I need her.”
Not a sound stirred between the two until a light voice drifted through, “I know.”
Sympathy passed across normally hard red eyes, unseen by the downcast violet pair. He raked his fingers through his tangled locks before letting out a deep sigh.
“Come on you damn mouse!” He baited his cousin as he turned and ran off in the direction of their house.
Unknowingly taking the bait, Yuki’s head snapped back up and he glared at the others receding back, “baka neko!” He yelled.
“Kuso nezumi!” Came the response, quieted by distance.
Yuki growled lightly and sprinted off after the neko.

Review and I\'ll update, no review ...no chapter two.
Oh, and I don\'t know the PROPER spelling of \'kuso\' I\'ve seen it two ways - k\'so and kuso. So, bare with me, my Japanese spelling IS as bad as my English spelling.
NOTE: Alright, I have the first 4 manga (as of the moment I am writing this, I have a tendency to go manga shopping, a lot, seeing as though I am working and have my own money) so my spelling of the names is changing, and some of the events I may be referring to are different from manga to anime so I usually choose the manga version (since I am totally in love with the manga).
Instead of ‘Kyou’ I now write it ‘Kyo’ because that is the way it is in the manga. I don’t know if I will be using this spelling, but in the manga Aya is spelt “Aaya”, so I don’t know if I will be using that. In the manga (I don’t remember if this is in the anime or not) Shigure refers to Hatsuharu as “Haa-kun” …and just to make the manga even more confusing, he refers to Hatori as “Haa-san”, so I will probably be using both throughout this fic.
