Something in the Blood
Seras Victoria walked down the halls of the Hellsing mansion giggling like a mad woman. She had just gotten back from a trying mission that involved a handful of ghouls, a “Freaked” vamp and one nut job priest wielding blessed swords (in dictionary see ‘Anderson’). All in all an average day for the undead Hellsing agent. This was not why Seras was giggling however, in fact if she were to think about it she wouldn’t be able to tell you why she was in hysterics or what she was laughing at but she was far from caring about it just then. She was on her way to see Sir Integra Hellsing to report in on the mission.
When she had gotten back with the human troops Pip had asked her to report to Integra so he could clean up. He was covered in blood and dust and frankly, to Seras sensitive nose, stank. She had met up with Walter on her way and he had given her her nightly meal in a glass. Normally she would have refused it but she had been injured and lost a fair amount of blood during the fighting and was starving. When she was done she had giving Walter the glass back and headed to Integra’s office. That was when the giggling had started. On top of it all she was feeling lightheaded and fuzzy and having difficulty focusing on anything. She had shrugged this off, attributing it to her injuries earlier that night and still giggling finally reached Integra’s door.
After knocking and receiving a muffled ‘Come in’ Seras opened the door and entered. Sitting behind a massive desk was her boss and ‘Master’s Master’ reading reports and smoking one of her trademark cigars. Doing her best to stifle her laughter at the thought that Integra was ‘compensating’ for something with such a huge desk Seras proceeded to give the leader of the Hellsing organization her report of the nights events.
“So, Anderson showed up again?” Integra asked leaning back in her chair. “Yes, however Master wouldn’t let him play so he left.” Seras replied not noting the odd look Integra was giving her. Integra had noticed something off when Seras had been giving her report, almost as if she purposely paused while giving it to omit things. Now this last comment had Integra wondering what was going on with her second best agent. “Play?” she queried. Seras just giggled a little and said something under her breath that Integra thought sounded like ‘Master could play with me’ but let it slip as her imagination.
“Seras”, Integra began, “is uh… something wrong? Your acting a bit strange.” Integra watched as Seras put a hand to her mouth almost in horror. It took her a moment to realize that she had covered her mouth to stifle her laughter at her question. “Seras?” Looking at Integra with her eyebrows drawn together in concern and confusion Seras couldn’t help it any more and started to laugh uncontrollably. Integra watched as Seras grabbed her sides, doubling over with laughter, tears beginning to stream down her face. She knew something was very wrong and summoned Alucard to her.
This first thing that Alucard heard as he materialized from the shadows on the ceiling was his ‘Masters’ shocked voice aimed at his young fledgling. “Did you just tell me to get bent?!” Instead of getting an answer like she was expecting Seras started to take off her jacket while singing ‘Fly me to the Moon’. Alucard could sense that Integra was about to blow something, whether in her own body or in Seras he didn’t know, and wasn’t going to find out. Coming down to the floor where the two combatants, er ladies, stood he took in the situation.
Integra was standing behind her desk leaning over it with her hands on the top looking like she was going to leap over it and slap Seras. Seras was currently into the second verse of her song and not paying much attention to the lethal glare, and raised eyebrow, aimed in her direction. Clearing his throat to let Integra know he was there he sat on the edge of the desk. Integra looked over at him and pinned him with her best death glare. Being used to these it did nothing to faze him however he was curious as to what had happened to make her blow up at Seras and why the police girl was now swaying while singing ‘Fill my heart with song…’ and ignoring her boss with whom she held in great respect.
Integra finally seemed to get herself under control and waving her hand in a dismissive gesture indicated that Seras could, and should, leave. Surprising Seras did do just that, however leaving her jacket and collar, which she had also removed, behind. Still sitting on his perch on Integra’s desk Alucard waited until the door closed to speak. “You wanted to see me my master?” Integra sat down and looked at him. “Something is clearly wrong with your servant. I suggest you find out what it is before I do something to her.” Raising an eyebrow at this statement, seeing as how Alucard knew that Integra was fond of the police girl, he asked her to explain.
“She came in and told me about the mission however when I asked for more details she started to get strange. She proceeded then to go into hysterics, laughing at nothing. She then proceeded to tell me that my desk was very ‘big’ and then told ME to get BENT!” Integra said this last bit with a growl which only made it harder for Alucard to hold in the chuckle that wanted to come out since the ‘big’ desk comment. “I…”, Alucard took a big breath to control himself, “I see. I will check on her at once and let you know what’s going on. Is that all my master?” Alucard rose to his feet walking towards the door. “Yes, and prey that I do not see her again until she is back to normal. Dismissed.”
Alucard walked out the door and into the hall, normally he would just melt into the shadows and they would take him to when he wanted to go, however since the police girl had just left he was hoping to catch her in the hall before she got to far ahead. Alucard, while he found it incredibly amusing what HIS police girl had told Integra he also knew that this was not like her at all. This development had nothing to do with the changes that she was still experiencing from him bringing her ‘over’ and the thought that something was wrong with her that he didn’t know disturbed him more than he would let on.
Walking down the hall Alucard didn’t see any signs of the police girl. He proceeded then to faze down a floor and ended up outside of the kitchen. Looking inside he saw Walter leaning over Pip who had his back turned towards him and couldn’t see what it was that they were looking at. Figuring that if Seras had come down they would have seen her he proceeded in to ask. He stopped short however when he finally saw what had their attention. Pip was holding a beer bottle up to his mouth however he wasn’t drinking from it. From what Alucard could tell Pip had his tongue deep inside of the neck of the bottle and he could tell now that Walter was trying to help the man get it off. Raising an eyebrow, and mentally cataloging the scene for future torment on the young man, Alucard stepped over to see if he could ‘help’.
“I don’t see how you could have possibly gotten your tongue stuck inside of the bottle.” Walter was looking perplexed at how he was going to remove the offending object. Upon hearing a deep, highly amused, chuckle both of the men turned to see Alucard standing there with a wicked smirk on his face. A groan could be heard coming from the bottle adorned man sitting at the table, Pip knew this was going to come back and haunt him. “Really Captain, practicing your technique for the next woman to grace your bed?” Alucard was really enjoying this. He could have easily stayed there all night just to torment the braided man. However he had pressing matters involving his fledgling that needed attending to.
With a wave of his hand he got the bottle off of Pips tongue. “Thanks that hurt.” Pips words were slightly slurred whether from the injury to his tongue or the drink in the bottle neither Walter nor Alucard knew. “As amusing as that was I need to find Seras, have either of you seen her?” Upon receiving no’s from the two men Alucard was slightly upset at having removed the bottle. As he was leaving however he did here Pip’s response to Walters reproachful comments on his behavior “I\'m sorry...my tongue just slipped in there\".
Having not been able to find Seras any where in the main house Alucard proceeded down stairs to the ‘dungeon’ region of the Hellsing mansion. Walking towards the police girls room he could hear her talking to someone however he could not sense anyone else in the room. “It’s throbbing with power!” were the only words he could make out. Stepping through the wall to see what was going on he saw Seras, in nothing but her bra and uniform skirt, talking to a stuffed penguin in her hands. “And then the purple monkey stole all the bananas and stuck them up…” Alucard never found out where the monkey stuck the bananas because Seras couldn’t continue with her story as she was now on the floor, body shaking with uncontrollable laughter.
Alucard now understood what Integra had meant. Police girl was definitely not herself. Fazing out of the wall Alucard walked over to her still shaking form and leaned over. “Police girl?” no response. Trying again Alucard knelt down next to her and shook her by her shoulders trying to get her attention. He got it alright, and an armful of half naked Seras to boot. Seras wasn’t quiet sure what was going on however she liked it. She had always been attracted to her ‘master’ but now she could barely contain herself now that she was in his arms.
Due to the suddenness of her action Seras was able to get Alucards coat, hat and cravat off of the stunned vampire before he realized what was going on. Grabbing her hands he held them to his chest and looked into her eyes. Seras’s normally bright, clear eyes were dilated and glossy. If Alucard didn’t know better he would have sworn that his police girl was drunk, however this couldn’t be the problem since alcohol didn’t affect vampires as it couldn’t get into their blood stream. Besides, Seras would never drink anything; he knew she had a hard enough time with her blood intake. While Alucard was busy thinking Seras was getting annoyed. Here she was, half naked in the lap of her ‘master’, just the thought of that title made her giggle some more, and he was staring off into space ignoring her.
Well damn him if he didn’t think she was sexy. She knew that he liked Integra; she had seen the looks that they shared some times and usually this didn’t bother her however right now she wanted him to pay attention to her, to look at her that way. So, she did the only thing she knew to do to get his attention. She hit him. Hard. Right over the head with her Helconnon. Normally Alucard would have been able to avoid damage however preoccupied as he was he didn’t see it coming. Lying dazed on the floor in Seras room with the hell cat sitting on top of him he watched her raise her new weapon of choice, the stuffed penguin, over her head while grinning at him sweetly.
“If my fist meets your face intimately and there\'s no one around to see it, do you still have a concussion?\" She asked as she slammed the stuff toy into his face. She continued her assault on him until the only thing left of ‘Sigmund, the Penguin’ was one flipper and a lot of stuffing. Finally exhausted Seras stopped her attack, looking quiet smug with having finally ‘beaten’ her master. Alucard just sat there. Really, he didn’t know what to do. He wasn’t hurt or anything and the situation was very damn amusing, if it wasn’t happening to him that is, however he was in shock. His police girl had just tried to beat him to a bloody pulp with a stuffed penguin.
Deciding that this situation had gone on long enough he bucked her off and onto the floor and was over her in less than a second. Now positioned between her legs with her arms pinned over her head he could smell something on her. He leaned down to get a good whiff of what it was at the same time the door to Seras’s room opened. In the door way Walter and Integra stood looking at the two vampires in a very compromising position. Realizing how things looked Alucard got up on his knees. \"This isn\'t what it looks like!!!\" Alucard had not blushed in centuries however right now he felt that if he could he would have been. Integra just raised an eyebrow while Walter had a knowing smirk on his face.
Getting off the floor Alucard looked down at Seras and saw that she was asleep on the floor where he had pinned her. Shaking his head he picked her up and put her in her bed, pulled the covers up over her, hit the button and closed the lid. “Did you find out what was wrong with her?” Integra wanted to know that this was over so she didn’t have to deal with this again. “Yes, however I’m not sure how it happened.” Alucard sat down at the police girls table and put his feet up on it. “Well?” Integra’s patience had already been tested enough today. “She was drunk.”
Alucard stated this simply even though both he and Integra knew that this should not have been able to happen. “What? Are you sure?” “Positive. I could smell it on her – however it was faint. She should be back to normal when she wakes up.” Walter gasped suddenly when he had heard this. He had seen Seras before she went up to Integra’s office and she had been fine. He had giving her her dinner, and putting two and two together told the others to wait there. When he came back he had a blood packet that was half empty in his hands which he handed over to Alucard. “Can you test that?”
Smelling the blood Alucard could detect the faint taint of alcohol in it. “This blood is tainted with alcohol, who would do that?” “I don’t think it was on purpose.” Walter explained. “Some times when we run low and can’t get a new ‘shipment’ in we sometimes get blood from the troops. It’s possible that one of them was inebriated at the time that it was given. It could have simply been that the soldier was drunk and it was in the blood therefore making Seras, having drunk it, drunk as well.” “Who the hell would have donated blood drunk?” Integra was fuming. Walter and Alucard shared a look. They knew of a certain captain who could drink his weight in alcohol and not feel anything.
After Walter and Integra left, Walter to check all the blood to make sure no more of it ‘tainted’ and Integra to find a certain braided soldier, Alucard went back to his own room. He was glad that was over, that would teach Seras to smell her food more carefully, he also couldn’t help but remember the way she felt in his arms. He kinda hoped that it would happen again, just so he could see his police girl let go of her inhibitions for a few hours, it had been entertaining after all. While he slept he dreamed of a hell cat with reddish blonde hair and stuffed penguins.
Next day – er - Night:
Seras awoke the next night with a pounding headache and hardly any memory of the night before. She knew that she had come back from the mission and went to see Integra but that was where things got hazy. She vaguely remembered something about singing and stuffed penguins and her master holding her. The fact that she had a headache in the first place was worrying enough for her. She hadn’t had a headache since the night she had become a vampire, it just wasn’t something they got. Combined with the memory lapse Seras was slightly worried.
Getting up, and dressed, she decided to find her master and ask him if something was wrong with her. Walking down to his rooms, which were deeper in the ‘dungeons’ then hers she tried to recall anything ‘real’ from the night before. She could remember some things but it was like she dreamed them, none of it seemed real. She knew that she had been with her master however and that he should know what ever happened last night then. Coming to his door she knocked on it lightly. Hearing him call her inside she opened the door and stepped a short way in.
Looking around Seras saw her master sitting on his favorite ‘throne’-like chair. “Come here.” Seras was suddenly nervous. Whenever her master had that tone of voice she had done something wrong, really really wrong. Hesitantly she walked over to him. \"Somehow I don\'t think that look in your eyes means you\'re happy to see me. I\'m about to be throttled, aren\'t I?\" Seras put her hand over her mouth. She couldn’t believe she had said that. However, instead of yelling at her or hitting her Alucard only chucked. “I guess you still have some of it in your system. However it appears to have worn off for the most part.” Seras had no idea what he was talking about however she was happy that he wasn’t angry with her.
“It?” she queried. “Yes, you had a substance in your blood last night and it made you act… out of character.” Seras started to get nervous again. “What did I do? What substance?” She dreaded the answer. Alucard decided that he wanted to play a bit with her, a little payback as it were for knocking him over the head and then beating him with a stuffed toy. “You were under the effects of a very powerful aphrodisiac; it made you go into a type of blood lust. You were quiet the little hell cat, police girl.” Seras’s eyes went wide. She was having a mild panic attack at the thought of what she might have did, or tried to do and with whom under the influence of an aphrodisiac.
“Yes, you gave poor Pip quiet the scare.” Alucards smirk got bigger the longer he drew this out. “Pip? What did I do Master? Please tell me I didn’t … not with him… did I… you… Master?” Seras couldn’t even finish any of her thoughts. She would never have tried anything with Pip, he drove her crazy. However, there was someone who she had wanted… her master and she did remember being with him last night. Her thoughts were interrupted by her master laughing again. Looking at him he had a look in his eyes that Seras didn’t like. Alucard was really enjoying himself now. “Oh you didn’t do anything to Pip, he just saw you… with me.” Seras gasped at this. She couldn’t think of anything to say… she just stood there staring at her master with her mouth open, mind blank.
“With….you?” Seras finally managed to ask. “Yes, with me Police girl, is that so hard to comprehend. Don’t you want me?” Alucard was laughing in his head so loud that he was sure she could hear him through their link. However the laughter stopped when she answered him. “Yes.” That one word knocked the No-Life King for a loop. He had assumed her actions last night had been the result of the alcohol in her system, that she didn’t know what she was doing however with this answer he now understood. She may have never done what she did last night on her own, it had taken the alcohol to make her do it, but she had wanted him, and still did.
Noticing the startled look on her masters face Seras instantly regretted what she had said however she knew that it was too late to take it back. “Master,” she began, “do you, do you want me too? Or… were you just using me?” Seras didn’t know if she wanted the answer to that. She knew that her master had a thing for Integra however she couldn’t believe that he would just use her because she was vulnerable last night. Alucard looked into her eyes and saw the tears forming and felt like a right fool. He was suppose to be a monster and not care about hurting others however seeing his fledgling like this struck a cord in him.
“Seras,” he began, “Seras, we didn’t do anything last night. I was only saying that to rile you up. You didn’t do anything wrong last night.” Alucard knew that this wasn’t exactly true but he couldn’t tell her that now, not when she looked like she was ready to break. “We didn’t do anything? But you… I just told you… Oh god.” Seras ran from the room. She had just told her master that she wanted him, thinking that she had already told him that the night before. Now to find out that he hadn’t known at all and she had just confessed it Seras didn’t know what to do, all she knew was that she had to get away from him. She didn’t want to see the look in his eyes. She wasn’t sure what she would find there, it would either be pity or malicious glee, either way she couldn’t deal with it just then.
Back in his room Alucard couldn’t help but feel guilty, and something else. Seras’s confession had touched something deep inside of him. “So little police girl, you want me.” It wasn’t a question.
