Disclaimer:
I do not own Wolfs Rain, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Visions a Stirring...
Disclaimer: I (sadly) do not own Wolf’s Rain, nor do I own the ideas and places of the world of Wolf’s Rain, (but I do however own Tsume-Nah, just kidding-I WISH!) and as much as I like Kiba, Tsume, Toboe, Blue and Cheza (and the other characters of Wolf’s Rain) I do not have the rights to them as Bones owns that right. I DO however have the rights to Go-suto, Lunara of the Blue Moon and Luna of the Blue Moon, and any characters not recognized in the Anime or Manga of Wolf’s Rain.
Allow me to clarify a few things:
I’ve noticed quite a few Wolf’s Rain fans out there do not seem to realize that (Kiba, Tsume, Toboe, Hige and Blue) are WOLVES (well Blue\'s half wolf to be exact). Their so-called ‘human form’ is merely an illusion. They never actually physically shift. (I know their human bodies are adorably, incredibly, sexy and delicious... but its not real...sadly.) They project an image into the minds of the humans of their world that they encounter. Don’t believe me? Go and get your paws on “Blood and Flowers” the second DVD with episodes Six to Ten. Check out the Cast Interview #2. They say there that the wolves are at all times on all fours. They DO NOT become human. They just appear to be human. In essence, they always remain wolves. Likewise, the world of Wolf’s Rain IS NOT a futuristic Earth. By all evidence, never do they say it is. In fact, in that same interview, they say specifically that the creators DID NOT want to limit people’s imaginations by claiming the world to be Earth. Its not. That said, all things we take for granted in our world (our religions, our histories, etc...) no longer apply. (Despite this I may include song lyrics, poems, quotes and phrases from our world, if they fit the story or with the necessary tweeking/alterations so as to fit this world.) The wolves of the world of Wolf’s Rain, obviously are NOT the wolves of our world. They are stronger, faster, hardier, longer-lived, sentient and superior in all ways, so there’s room for creativity with them.
As such, I am trying to follow a very Cannon storyline, with a fair amount of creative twists as to certain aspects of their world, even if it proves more challenging. Overall, it should make for a better story. I will be using both the Manga and the Anime as resources (and the Cast Interviews). This may mean that events and lines may vary because I may opt to include lines or events that appear in one or the other (either the Anime or the Manga) as I see fit based on what I think sounds better or works within the story. Likewise, this fanfic involves several made-ups that will influence the story. Overall, I intend for the OC’s to influence the story but not without any drastic change in plot (to the best of the situation) yet still allowing for room to have them influence the story and be a part of it as if they had been there from the beginning.
~Starwolf, of the Otherworldly Realms~
*****************************************************
Lunara had traveled as far as she possibly could. Her exhaustion taking its toll on her, both physically and mentally, as she stubbornly pushed forward, about to collapse. In her exhaustion, her mind opened up more to the outside influences of the Universe, and she began to see images that she did not understand.
A blue moon in the night sky. Her twin. A white wolf lying half-dead in the snow. A red moon. There was some strange lab, or what looked to be one, and a girl inside something filled with a strange liquid solution. An image of a Lunar Flower flashed past her mind quickly. She saw the image of blood in the snow along with wolf paw prints.
Though she wasn’t given much chance to reflect on the images, before she saw another moon, and a path of Lunar Flowers, she faintly felt as if she smelled them. None of it made any sense to her, but she just accepted the images. Nothing made sense until things were about to come to pass. Am I going mad? Am I just imagining all this? What’s wrong with me? Maybe I’m just too exhausted. When was the last time I ate anything? More images came still, persistently... almost like someone nagging...Pay attention!Lunara soaked them all in... the images of the white wolf, and a black dog and its human, the strange girl in the lab... the Lunar flowers. A pentacle. An image of what was clearly part of “The Book of the Moon.\"I know I’m pagan, and that I am drawn to wolves... but its how I was raised, right? Its nothing more. Why then, do I feel drawn to something as if...
“Its been too long...” Exhausted, she dropped to her feet and pushed her backpack aside. Lying on her back, she tried to think. When was the last time I ate anything? Lunara tried to think as images still nagged at her mind in an irritating manner. White wolf. Lunar flower. Pagan. Banned book. Red moon. Wolves. Tracks in the snow. Desire...to find...paradise. Blood. If I remember correctly... its been six days since I last ate though I could be wrong.Lunara sighed, closing her eyes. It seemed as if she was not going to be able to find food or water. Secretly, she felt that death was near. In the heat of the sun, she was certain that death would come soon for her. She was unafraid to die. In fact, she did not even care if death came or not. Death was a natural quality of life.
Her hopes of having found food and water in the ghost town dried up rapidly. She could not even get into the village walls before the heat’s affects sucked up her remaining energy. “Where is everyone? Was it the noble’s troops who destroyed this place? Or did everyone just leave on their own?” Of course, her question went unanswered as their was no one there. Too exhausted to even think anymore, the girl fell asleep. Her dreams reflected her current situation...a lack of food and water and being on the edge of death.
He was wandering in search of anything that might make even the smallest bit of a meal. He was alone and he had the feeling he would never see any of his pack members again. They had all been captured. He was still unclear how it was that he alone escaped unscathed. Approaching the small city? Village? It was hard to say exactly what it had been, much of it lay in ruins now or remained abandoned. It smelled of death and recent decay. Whatever happened here happened not too long ago. I doubt I\'ll be able to find any food here. I should move on.
Then a slight breeze brought the scents of a pig and a human to his nose. He hesitated, sniffing again, to be sure he smelled things right. Yes. The unmistakeable smell of the swine. As well as that of a young maiden. Both still alive, but barely.
Lunara drifted in and out of consciousness, aware of the merciless sun beating down on her as her mind tried to grasp reality. Instead she got a mixture of her obscure visions of the same white wolf, the lunar flower, and the girl in the lab... but what did it all mean? She sensed another creature present. A very large creature that lay with its back against her. Odd. When did that get here? What is it? Then she heard the grunting. Pig. It was the last thing she thought before falling unconscious again and was dreaming of being a wolf. Her breathing was faint, as if she would cease to breath at any time.
“Is this all the life that remains out here? What had happened to this village? Where is this world headed to when all things seem to wither and die?” The wolf muttered aloud his thoughts. I remember a time when things seemed a little easier. Or maybe that’s just what I wanted to believe. Perhaps I’ve been happily blind to the true fate of the world.
Half awake, shortly after she had drifted asleep, Lunara listened to the pig’s uncomfortable grunts. Too weak to even open her eyes, or stir, she just rested listening to its grunting. I... couldn’t even... her mind sought to grasp the words as if her parched lips and strong thirst interfered with her ability to think clearly. couldn’t even... The heat
was unbearable and she longed to drift off into the pleasantness of dreams, yet the reality was it was so hot, she probably could not even sleep peacefully anymore.into...make it... Lunara longed for release from the heat. Death, if it would bring an end to this constant heat source. Her thoughts fluttering with the difficulty of thinking under such heat and exhaustion. must... run...must...seek out...paradise.... Lunara fought unconsciousness now, knowing that it would probably be her last moments awake, if she gave in now. Town... village... couldn’t make it...I must run...
A slight wind brought her mind into focus for a moment. “Hello pig... it seems as if its just you and me now...Everyone’s gone. I guess... well, we’ll both just...” Lunara said softly, sadly adding, “die here together.” She sighed, “at least I’m not alone. I... won’t...die... alone...”
