Kenshin looked at his roommate.
“Aoshi?”

“Yes?”

“You love me, right?”

“Yes.”

“Good.” He smiled and lay back
down.

Aoshi stared at the ceiling.
Strange, wasn’t it? His answer was the same every time he was asked the
question, and yet… Kenshin had never replied in kind. All he had ever said was
‘good’… Aoshi was sure that meant something. Of course… he had never been brave
enough to ask the question himself, either.

“Aoshi?”

“Yes?”

“What are you thinking about?”

“You.”

“Good.” Again, he smiled and lay
back down.

Was that a strange answer? His
own answer had been truthful… and, obviously, the right answer. But… wasn’t
Kenshin’s answer a little strange?

“Kenshin?”

“Yes?”

“…Nothing.”

See…? He was never quite brave enough
to ask him. To ask him if he loved him, if he felt anything about him, if he
was only using him. Never quite brave enough to ask any of his questions. He
was afraid of the answers.

Kenshin sat up, and looked down
into Aoshi’s face, then smiled slightly. “Aoshi?”

“Yes?”

“You know I love you, right?”

“Yes.”

“And you know I think about you
all the time, right?”

“Yes.”

“Good.”
