Chapter 1: Getting Ready for the Ball
*****
The rain was coming down hard, but still the lone, tall, thin figure continued to stand at the school’s gateway, the long, purple trench coat whipped about him, but he didn’t move even when he was missing an umbrella.
“He’s there again,” the bouncy, buxom of a twelve year old leaned in the blurred window, allowing her tail to sway in a slow calm matter behind her.
“He’s always there, Yuiko. Ritsuka needs to be protected as all times. Isn’t that right, little Ritsuka?” Yayoi turned smugly to the other pre-teen.
“It is not my fault that my brother decided that his company was getting too many rivals that he feels it necessary for me to be watched. I’d leave him in an instance if I thought I could actually get away from him,” the dark haired boy huffed, flipping his bangs before settling his head in his arms resting on his desk.
“Hey, Ritsuka, why don’t you come and hide out at my place?” Yuiko smiled sweetly, pulling at the slightly shorter boy’s arm.
“That’s a great idea!” Yayoi agreed instantly, “We can all hang out at Yuiko’s!”
“… Um, yes…” she was suddenly unsure about the whole thing as she eyed the self invited boy.
“No, Seimei wants me home for a banquet that he is holding tonight, and he wants his entire family there.” Actually, that wasn’t true, Seimei didn’t like anyone else in their family other than Ritsuka. Deep down, Ritsuka couldn’t leave the blond man out in the cold, alone that long.
“Wow, your brother’s business must really be booming. Yuiko is very jealous.”
“How many times do I have to tell you? You are in the sixth grade, you do not refer to yourself in the third person unless you are a king,” Ritsuka sighed out, annoyed.
“I’m sorry,” she let her head drop.
“Whatever,” he stared at the clock. There were only a few more minutes before class let out, and he would be under the care of… him… again.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Ritsuka pulled out his umbrella on the way out, and reached up to cover both him and the taller man when he arrived at the gate.
“Are you stupid?” Ritsuka scowled up at the smirking blonde, who managed to keep his cigarette lit even in the downpour.
“No, just doing my job,” he let the cigarette fall to the ground and they made their way to the humble home.
Even after Seimei had made his first large fortune, the family stayed in the same house, and nothing about it ever changed. Ritsuka honestly had no idea as to what Seimei did, but apparently he made enough enemies to want Soubi to watch over him constantly. It wasn’t really that Ritsuka minded. The blonde was very good company, for the most part, but…
“How was your day today?” the deep voice asked.
“What do you care?” wine colored eyes glared up at the taller man.
“I care a lot,” his smirk was so irritating.
“I don’t need you to watch over me,” he glowered.
“Of course you do. If you didn’t have me you would be all alone right now, and anyone who wanted would be able to take you and your ears. I’m sure your brother wouldn’t like that.”
“I think that you’re the only one who cares about my ears,” this comment made the bodyguard smirk.
“Yes… I care a lot about your ears,” he reached one hand to play with one of the cat ears set atop Ritsuka’s jet black hair, gently running his thumb over the inside of the appendage.
“Stop that!” Ritsuka pulled away. His ears were too sensitive to allow someone to play with them so carelessly. Especially an adult, he was glaring at the top of Soubi’s head again, where two blond ears should sit, but there was nothing.
The cocky smirk was back, and Soubi let his hands fall to his sides before hiding them in his pockets.
“You’re such a jerk.”
“If that is what you say I am.”
“Shut up!”
Soubi always seemed to manage to get Ritsuka’s normally calm façade to crack if not completely crumble. The boy had lost his memories a few years back and his mother claimed him to not be her son anymore, luring him into traps to prove that he wasn’t the real Ritsuka.
“My Ritsuka would never eat that!” she shrieked once before pulling a picking up the plate with the mashed potatoes and peas before throwing them in his face, leaving him with a rather large bruise on his cheek, but she never seemed to remember what happed the next morning.
“Oh, my, Ritsuka, what happened to your face, did you get into a fight? You really should be more careful.”
“How is your cheek?” Soubi’s deep, calming voice broke Ritsuka from his thoughts. Sometimes it made the young boy wonder if Soubi could read his mind, but that was just silly… right?”
“What?”
“How is your face feeling?” the back of his hand brushed over his bruise, “Does it still hurt?”
“Stop that!” he swatted the hand away.
“Sorry, did I hurt you?”
“No, just… just don’t touch me.”
“Why not?” he smirked, leaning in closer under the umbrella so their arms were barely brushing, but Ritsuka didn’t have enough to yell about.
“Look, you’ve walked me home. You can go away now,” Ritsuka shoved the umbrella in Soubi’s much larger hands.
“You forget. I am to attend your brother’s banquet with you tonight.”
“I don’t need a babysitter,” he glowered.
“I am not a babysitter, I am your bodyguard, hired by your brother to make sure you are taken care of,” he followed Ritsuka up the stairs to the house, putting the umbrella away as they entered and made their way up to the preteen’s bedroom, but was decorated with only a few pictures, mostly of the tall blonde or of his brother.
“You don’t need to watch me change,” he glared, but was already opening the front of his uniform.
“Then I shall wait outside until you are done.”
“No! Just leave me alone!” he tried to slam the door shut, but Soubi was suddenly forcing it open, “What the hell do you think you are doing?”
Soubi remained silent as he glared about the room.
“What…?” he was cut off as he heard something from outside of his window.
Soft, annoyed whispers called both boys to the window.
“We shouldn’t be doing this.”
“Did you see the look on his face? It’s obvious Ritsuka doesn’t want to be left alone with that Soubi.”
“Yuiko! Yayoi!” Ritsuka looked in complete surprise as he pulled the curtains back to reveal his classmates sitting atop his house, just in front of his window.
“Oh… hi, Ritsuka! We’re here to rescue you!”
“That’s what I’m doing here,” Soubi responded coldly. He didn’t like having competition for Ritsuka’s young heart, and he knew that this girl was vying for his sweet, undivided attention.
“You’re the one he needs to be rescued from,” she tried to glare up at him, but it just turned into a pathetic pout.
“You are bothering us,” Soubi sighed as he pulled Ritsuka closer to him, his hand dipping inside the front of the open shirt, “We already have plans for the evening, so if you’ll excuse us.”
“A…bu…” the window and curtains were closed on the two students before they could think of a proper comeback.
“Why did you…?” his words were cut off by a pair of full soft lips. “Stop that!”
“I don’t like the way she looks at you,” he answered the only half asked question as he continued to plant soft kisses on the shorter boy.
“You’re jealous for no good reason,” Ritsuka pulled away.
“So, I don’t have to worry about her stealing you from me?”
“No!”
“I’m glad,” he approached to pull the much smaller boy into an even tighter embrace.
“Stop! That’s not what I meant,” but he knew that the deep red in his cheeks was already giving him away.
“Then what did you mean?”
“… It’s nothing important, I have to get ready for the banquet tonight, so… I’ll go change in the bathroom…”
A few minutes later, Ritsuka emerged wearing the latest style of business suits that came in his size, but was having a lot of trouble with the deep purple tie.
“Soubi,” he complained, “How do you do this?”
“Let me help,” his fingers made quick work, but he continued to smooth and straighten the knot for an extra minute, “It matches your eyes perfectly.”
“You picked it out, didn’t you?”
“Hm, is it that obvious?” his hands ran over every part of his torso quickly before letting his hands drop, and he smiled sweetly, looking over every inch of Ritsuka’s body in such away that the sixth grader’s cheeks started to heat up and burn brightly.
“S-stop that…”
“You are too beautiful,” Soubi muttered before capturing the small boy’s lips.
“S-Soubi…” he tried to moan, but his mouth was soon filled by the bodyguard’s thick tongue.
“Mm,” the older man pushed Ritsuka down on the deep blue bed, his large hands running through the dark hair, caressing the sensitive ears firmly. A heavy shiver ran up the young spine.
“Stop, we have to go,” he finally found the strength to hold him off at arm’s length.
“You can be fashionably late,” he continued his onslaught.
“No, stop, Soubi!”
“I love your ears,” he kissed up the boy’s cheek to nip at the human ear a little before going up to play his tongue over the inside of fuzzy appendage.
“Soubi,” his voice was strained, trying his very hardest not to moan at the sensuous feeling the older man was bestowing on him, and his body seemed to crave it like water to a fish that had been left in the dessert for years.
“I cannot stop myself,” he panted softly, as he kneeled over the petite form between his legs.
“You’re going to have to,” he kept his arms crossed, pushing at Soubi’s neck to keep him as far as possible. His breath was short and fast. He couldn’t seem to focus on anything other than Soubi’s alluring lips, which he was painfully aware of their talent. The sweet taste was so alluring, even if there was an after taste of nicotine. Maybe that was what the problem was. Maybe the nicotine on Soubi’s breath was truly addicting like those anti-smoking ads assured.
Hiding his sharp blue eyes behind the smooth, pale lids and long, thick lashes, Soubi took a calming breath before sitting back and away from the young boy.
“Aren’t you supposed to be dressed up as well?” Ritsuka tried to smooth out the wrinkles from their recent make out session.
“Yes, I have an outfit picked out.”
“Did Seimei choose?”
“You are jealous of your own brother,” Soubi smirked.
“I am not,” he said, possibly the most childish thing he had ever said since the loss of his memory.
Soubi leaned in to kiss Ritsuka’s cheek, since the boy turned away in a huff, “There is nothing between your brother and myself.”
Keeping his head down, Ritsuka peered through his dark bangs to glare at the older man, “Really.”
“You are too cute,” he kissed his beloved’s forehead.
“Idiot,” he scoffed, but allowed the affection.
“I love you, Ritsuka,” he murmured, allowing his chin to rest on the boy’s shoulder.
“Stop saying that,” he let out a heavy sigh.
“But it’s true.”
The two sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, Ritsuka had moved to kneel between Soubi’s sprawled legs on the bed, their arms wrapped loosely about one another.
“Ritsuka, are you ready? The limo will be here soon to pick you and Soubi up,” the said cheerfully on the opposite side of the triple locked door, which had been put up by Soubi when he first undertook being Ritsuka’s bodyguard.
Ritsuka chewed on his bottom lip as he recalled watching Soubi with his hair up put in the locks and bolts in fear of his safety. The blonde was the first person other than his brother to actually care about his safety. After finishing the project, Soubi had tried to slide his tongue down his throat again, but that was not the point.
“Yes, we’re almost ready,” he replied just loud enough for his mother to have to strain to hear him.
“Okay, have fun at the party, dear.”
The usual look of distress crossed Ritsuka’s features, and Soubi tried to smooth his fears, caressing the innocent’s childish cheeks.
“You had better get ready.”
“Of course,” Soubi agreed, standing to grab his clothing to change.
“In the bathroom! In the bathroom!” he tried to fight a blush down as he watched the beautiful man start to strip.
