The Valentine
By Yami Kitsune
Nagi sat at his desk tapping his pencil as he stared out the window. He watched the other kids in his school pass out candies, cards, and flowers. He snorted at them and turned his attention back out the window. He\'d never really cared for valentines day. A day for love, and lovers. Whoever thought of such a dumb holiday should be killed. The only problem with that was, the person who thought it up, was already dead.
//Just my luck.// Nagi sighed. He glanced at the clock. It was only 9AM in the morning, so he still had a LONG day ahead of him. Giggling girls giving valentines out, tongue tied boys trying to ask girls out on a date. The whole holiday was stupid for Nagi, although, he knew he would enjoy it better if he had someone to spend it with, but the only person that he was intrested in...well, he would rather kill him, then go out on a date with him.
//Even if we wern\'t enemies...he\'s probably not even interested in boys.// Nagi thought. The bell rang signling the end of his first class. Nagi slowly stood up and walked out of the classroom, while his mind wandered over all the possibilites of what a day like today COULD be like if he were normal. And if he did have someone speical. Nagi seemed to be in a trance most of the day, just going through the school day doing everything he normally did. His mind never once concentrating on his school work, because every time he tried, his mind would wander back to a certain blonde boy who worked at a flowershop.
It was near lunch time that Nagi started work on a Valentine card, that he was planing on keeping to himself. He stared at the blank piece of paper before he started drawing a picture. One of Nagi\'s hidden talents, was that he was a very good artist. He drew a small cat, holding a heart in it\'s mouth on the front. He opened the card and then started debating what to write.
//Hmm...To the love, I will never have. I feel Pain
I feel Love
We can not love without pain
and we can not have pain with out love.
Why must the two
walk hand in hand? Who decides what\'s good and bad? You can not have good with out evil, just as you can not have love without pain. You are my love, you are my pain. You stole my heart with out even trying. If I keep hoping against fate, maybe someday things will change.
Eternally yours. Nagi.//
Nagi looked at the card and sighed folding it up and putting it in his pocket. Something that Omi would never get. But then again...just as the morning had passed, the rest of the school day passed with Nagi wondering if he should give Omi the valentine or not. He definately couldn\'t give it to him in person, Omi would never accept it. But, just maybe he could put it up in his room, using his powers. Then Omi would get it, and know how Nagi felt about him. And Nagi wouldn\'t have to be worried about rejection, because they were already enemies. It was just one less thing to get off his mind. Or so he thought.

That day after school nagi didn\'t go straight home, instead taking a detour to the flowershop. He stayed across the street watcing the four boys try and keep the girls away while they dealt with the PAYING customers. Nagi didn\'t pay attention to the other three, as his attention was focused on Omi. He was busy getting flowers together for the customers, and was running back and forth. From what Nagi could see, Omi was doing most of the work, which really wasn\'t surprising, seeing as how Nagi knew Omi did most of the work anyway.
While they were busy Nagi crossed the street to the shop and went down the back alley. He looked around for Omi\'s window and smiled. Taking out the card he put it in an envilope before floating it up to Omi\'s window and inside. Hoping he got it on Omi\'s desk he glanced around before leaving. Before he could change his mind.

\"What a LONG day.\" Omi sighed as he dragged his feet up the stairs. The other three following him. Yohji of course, wasn\'t tired at all, barely helping with any of the orders because he had a date that night. That was nothing new; Yohji always had a date. But Omi wasn\'t in the mood to complain to him about it, so he let it slide for that one day. But tomorrow, Omi was going to make Yohji pull a double shift.
Aya just grabbed his coat before going out to see his sister and Ken crashed on the couch. Omi was about to sit down as well when he saw a familiar red head standing in the doorway.
//Oh no, not tonight.// Omi thought feeling exhausted.
\"You have a mission, Bombay, and Persia wants it done tonight.\" She said and handed Omi the folder. Omi blinked. //No tape..?// He thought but didn\'t question it. He opened the folder and looked over the information. It looked easy enough. Aparently a team had gone into a building, and messed up a mission, and Weiss was being assigned to clean it up, the only way possible - blowing up the building. Omi sighed.
\"I can do this.\" He said. Manx nodded.
\"I want one other person with you, for backup.\" She said, even though she knew she didn\'t have to. Omi had been a member of Weiss since the very begining, he knew the rules, and when to be careful.
\"I will expect to see a report in the morning.\" She said. Omi nodded and watched her leave. He headed up to his room to get changed. He pulled his mission clothes on and went over to his desk to get his darts. That\'s when he noticed the envelope on his desk. Blinking at it, he picked it up and looked it over. There was only his name on it with a small heart inside the O. //A valentine?// Omi wondered. Was Yohji playing a trick on him? No, it wasn\'t his hand writing.
\"Omi! You ready!?\" Ken called. \"I want to get this done quickly, there\'s a soccer game on tonight!\"
\"Coming Ken-kun!\" Omi called back and put the envelope back on his desk running out of his room and down the stairs. He and Ken left a note for Yohji and Aya before heading out to the mission site.

When they got there, they found the way in easily. Ken was waiting out side staying in contact with Omi by radio. Omi knew how to set bombs, he had the fingers for it. Ken didn\'t; bombs made him nervous, and he might end up blowing himself up. Omi was more experienced at it, so he was elected. Omi didn\'t like bombs either, but he was the only one who could set them up, with out going up in flames.
Omi crawled through the vents looking around for the perfect place to set up the bomb, it had to be somewhere close to the middle of the building, other wise it wouldn\'t work right.
//Just once, I would like to sit down and have a normal night.// Omi thought as he took out the bomb and the peace he needed. He put them together and set it up. \"(Ken-kun, do you think three minutes will be long enough?)\" Omi asked.
\"(More then long enough. It didn\'t take you long to get in.)\"
Omi nodded, even though Ken couldn\'t see him. Bomb set for three minutes. Omi twisted himself so he was turned around before crawling back out the way he came, not realizing that his foot kicked the bomb as he turned, resetting the timer, to one minute.
As he crawled, his coat got stuck on a loose screw in the vent. Omi cursed and pulled his coat to get it loose. As he pulled it loose he felt the building start to shake. Looking behind him his eyes went wide as he saw the flames from the bomb coming right at him. Turning quickly he kicked the vent making it fall apart so he could slide down. He would have a better chance of safty if he wasn\'t burned completely to death. As he rolled down onto the floor the ceiling crumbled and fell.
Out side Ken watched with a horrafied face as the building went up in flames. The last thing he heard from Omi was a scream of terror, and agony. The building fell to the ground and Ken stared in shock. \"..Omi...\" He whispered. \"OMI!!!\" His feet were moving before his brain was.
Ken ran forward down the hill towards the building. There was still fire every where, and he knew if Yohji and Aya were here they would yell at him for being stupid, and not waiting till the fire was out to go look for Omi. But again, Ken wasn\'t thinking. His feet were on auto pilot. Ken started ripping through the burning rubble, getting burns on his hands, and arms.
Ken knew the general direction Omi had been in, having seen his younger team mate climb into the vent, now burried under ten tons of rubble. But that didn\'t stop him from looking. What seemed like hours later, but couldn\'t have been that long becuase the fire trucks weren\'t there yet, he found his fallen team mate. Being crushed by two-by-fours, plaster, sheetrock, and other stuff helping hold the building up. Ken pulled the wood and stuff off Omi. and nearly started crying when he saw Omi bloody and burned.
The blonde boy was unconcious. Still alive, but barely. Ken carefuly scooped him up and brought him back over to his bike. \"I\'ll get you to a hospital Omi. I promise. You\'ll be okay. Everything will be alright.\" Ken said, knowing Omi couldn\'t hear him. He got Omi set up on the bike in front of him before he took off heading for the nearest hospital. From there, he would call Aya and Yohji to let them know what was going on, and what had happened to Omi.
~_~_~
Omi could hear things going on around him. but he couldn\'t open his eyes. He wasn\'t sure if he wanted to. He felt the wind on his burning skin, and he could hear Ken talking to him. He knew he should be in more pain then he was, but he couldn\'t feel any thing. Ken was near, he could hear his heart beat, he was safe. As he rested against Ken images started passing through his mind. When he first came to weiss. Manx, staying up with him when he had nitemares, singing him to sleep. Training him. The first day he had seen the flowershop.
The first time had had met Ken, Yohji, and Aya. Teaching Ken all about flowers, while Ken tried to teach him about soccer. Getting to know Yohji, and wishing he hadn\'t. And glad that he didn\'t understand the play boy. Wanting to get to know Aya better, but also afraid to. And schwarz. He vagly wondered what had happened to each of thouse four memebers to make them turn out so evil. Especially the youngest one. Omi knew he was older than the young schwarz member. He couldn\'t understand how someone so young could be so evil.
The last thing to pass through Omi\'s mind was the valentine that still sat at home, on his desk, unopened. He wondered who it was from, and what it said. //I can read it....when I...get...home....// Omi thought as he drifted into what he thought was a deep sleep.
Omi was not dead, but in a coma. One that the doctors didn\'t know if he would come out of or not. One mistake, had stopped Omi from living his life, but not stopped him from living. What would be the worst punishment for an assassin? To die at the hands of thouse you are hired to kill? Or to just sleep, while the world keeps living without you. While your friends, and the only family you know, move on, and the life you knew when you went to sleep, will no longer be there when you wake up.
TBC??
Please, let me know what you think of this. Should I continue it? or leave it as it is? It was only supposed to be a one shot, if I continue it, it will probably be in a sequel.
