FAKE- One Fandom, Fifty Themes

Fandom: FAKE (manga)

Theme Set: Fourth (I will do others later, and add them)

Rating: G to NC-17 and everywhere in between

Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE; I made no money off of this. FAKE is copyright of Sanami Matoh, and whoever bought the rights now that BeBoy has gone under.

Author Notes: Contains spoilers for the entire series, bad language, a little violence, yaoi, and het. There\'s more Dee X Ryo than anything else, but just about every minor character gets some time in the spotlight as well. Names used are the Tokyopop English translations. My apologies to the semi-colon and the n-dash. Enjoy!

1. Step

“Step, Berkie, step, step,” Diana warned a second too late as Berkley crashed to the floor in such an uncharacteristic fit of drunken laughter that Diana too lapsed into fits of giggles.

2. Squeeze

Ryo’s fist closed around Dee’s cock, squeezing just hard enough to send Dee’s head back into the headboard as he screamed his ecstasy.

3. Dirt

“Oh, fuck, yes,” Dee whispered, his eyes slitted in excitement; “look at this, Ryo, this guy’s got so much on Nielson we can practically skip the trial!”

4. Late

“It’s L-A-Y-T, not L-A-T-E,” Dee growled at the increasingly disheveled court stenographer, “L-A-Y-T-N-E-R, Laytner, look, I don’t see what’s so friggin’ hard about it…”

5. Money

Maybe after he moved into JJ’s apartment, Drake would finally manage learn something about budgeting… but everyone doubted it.

6. Aid

Judging by the way Ryo squirmed in his desk chair, Dee reasoned the banana he’d just finished eating had proved a very effective visual aid.

7. Myth

Bikky’s Google search for “how to get rid of stupid gay perverts who hit on my foster dad” had turned up nothing but a disgustingly vivid rendition of the tale of Zeus and Ganymede; definitely not what he was looking for!

8. Piece

Just as Dee was frantically brushing the last sliver of broken coffee cup under Ryo’s desk, Ryo himself walked in, his slightly abstracted gaze quickly turning to one of extreme vexation as he met Dee’s eyes with an accusatory stare.

9. Child

As Bikky sleepily whispered, “G’night, Dad,” Ryo’s grin practically lit the room, and he could barely utter the returning, “Good night, Bikky” around the sudden lump in his throat .

10. Confess

“I think you’re the very most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life ever,” Ted blurted, all in one breath, and blushed bright red as Janet began to chortle.

11. Trick

Drake could’ve sworn JJ had been a magician in another life… well, if not, the tricks that man pulled in bed sure as hell felt magical.

12. Out

“I’m not the type to wave a rainbow banner or wear… assless leather chaps,” Ryo quipped, pulling Dee closer, “but I’ll never, ever be ashamed to say yes when someone asks me if I love you.”

13. Best

Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend” had always brought Bikky to Carol’s mind, and when he put the song onto his MP3 player amidst all the hardcore rap, she found herself absurdly touched.

14. Mother

Once or twice, Dee had been asked if he regretted never having known his real mother; at those times, a clear moment of total sensory recall would overwhelm him -- Penguin’s scolding and hugs and indulgent, adoring glances -- and he could honestly tell the bewildered questioner that he had known his real mother.

15. Book

“I say we throw the book at him,” Ted joked in a goofy film noir-style cop voice, as he picked up a book lying on the desk and threw it out the door to illustrate… and paled as it hit Chief.

16. Victim

As Ryo grimly passed him the Polaroids CSI has taken at the murder scene, Dee wondered at how unbelievably cruel people could be.

17. Power

As a joke on his appointment as Commissioner, Diana had a T-shirt printed for Berkley that read “It’s Good to Be the King,” which he scoffed at and scolded her for making… and wore on weekends when no one was around.

18. Redeem

The night before, the unbelievably hot, gaspy moans of “Dee! Oh, God, Dee!” and the almost unbearable hot tightness as he slid into Ryo had pushed Dee over the edge in an embarrassingly brief frame of time, so tonight he was all set to hop back in the saddle and ride all fucking night; after all, he had a reputation to uphold, goddamnit.

19. Bleak

As the Chief took in a deep breath, his face slowly purpling with rage, Dee knew the odds of him getting Tuesday off were pretty damn bleak.

20. Shrapnel

Whenever Dee kissed Ryo’s chest, he traced his tongue gently along the thin, raised scar just below Ryo’s left nipple-- his own small way of thanking God that stray bullet hadn’t gone any deeper.

21. Humane

After a minute of laughing as the innumerable cats at the crime scene rubbed and purred all over an increasingly pissed off Drake, JJ radioed for the Humane Society to send over a couple of ACO’s.

22. Anger

“All right,” Dee sighed, “Bikky can come with us on vacation… but if he even thinks about busting in on us again, I refuse to be held responsible for the consequences.”

23. Team

Ryo dropped his book, startled, as Dee vaulted up from the couch, threw the remote down hard enough to crack the plastic and screamed “MOTHERFUCKING BULLS!” at the television.

24. Terror

Alicia never let it show, but whenever the phone rang while Leo was gone on “business,” her heart would freeze in terror that some faceless hit man on the other end was calling to say her husband was dead.

25. Natural

All his academy instructors had been awed by JJ’s accuracy, calling him a born marksman, a deadeye, a natural, but none of it meant more to him than the first time his gorgeous, unattainable fellow recruit Dee Laytner had clapped him on the back and muttered, “That shot was pretty bitchin’!”

26. Never

Berkeley ran his finger slowly over Diana’s thigh as she lay naked in his arms, and knew he’d never again desire anyone but her.

27. Fidelity

“Anniversary number twenty-five,” Dee said, looking adoringly at Ryo’s beaming face and brushing a strand of graying hair out of his lover’s eyes, “and damn if I still have to stop myself from pouncing you.”

28. Neglect

The chief’s wife was certainly proud of her husband’s dedication to the 27th, and appreciated his promotion to chief, but sometimes as she lay alone in bed at night, reading to try and force herself awake until he came home, an awful, creeping feeling of loneliness almost overwhelmed her.

29. Face

As Dee slept, Ryo, tucked into bed beside him, ran his fingers lightly over Dee’s face, marveling over each angle and plane, each pore and the few scattered freckle, before lightly kissing his eyelids and murmuring how much he loved him.

30. Lurk

The tiny glimmer of light against the man’s watch was enough for Ryo to see the gunman crouched in the shadows of the abandoned warehouse.

31. Grow

“From three inches soft to eight and a half hard,” JJ smirked, stroking his thigh teasingly as Drake’s eyes nearly bugged out of his head.

32. Skin

Carol was enraptured by Bikky from the start; the light blonde hair and cornflower eyes in such stark contrast to the dark warmth of his skin.

33. Sick

“That’s it,” Ryo growled to a green-faced and groaning Dee, throwing an extra twenty into the extremely irate cab driver’s fist to pay for cleaning the backseat upholstery, “you are not drinking ever again!”

34. Dare

For days after his time with JJ on the roof, all Drake could think of was returning the kiss… but try as he might, he couldn’t get up the nerve.

35. Worth

Though he complained relentlessly about his microscopic paycheck, the truth is, Dee would gladly have done his job for even less.

36. Last

Berkley’s face was nonchalant as he waited for Diana, but he was secretly terrified that he had missed his last chance to be with her.

37. Year

As Ryo diligently typed up their latest incident report, Dee amused himself by trying to add up the number of times he and Ryo had done it in the past year.

38. Prime

Ryo spent almost fifty dollars on the cut of prime rib for Christmas dinner… and another fifteen for pizza when Bikky refused to eat it.

39. Taste

JJ spent a full half hour exploring every inch of Drake with his tongue, marveling at the variety of tastes; cigarettes and beer in his mouth, sweat on his skin, traces of aftershave on his neck, and finally the salty, bitter sweetness of his come.

40. Beyond

Elena had always been blessed with the ability to see beyond her rather stoic nephew’s carefully guarded exterior, and even as the other relatives present at the funeral gossiped about how little he seemed to care, she knew exactly how much he was hurting.

41. Final

“If you can manage to get a ‘B’ on your math final,” Carol whispered to Bikky, “maybe we can think of some kind of… special reward… for all your hard work, hmm?”

42. Event

As the flight attended demonstrated the proper emergency exit procedures, Dee gently tapped Ryo’s emergency card away and whispered, “in the event of turbulence, my body can be used as a grounding device,” into his ear.

43. Secure

“JJ and Drake have the premise secured, “ Ryo whispered, his eyes cold and deadly, as Dee nodded and raised his gun, “let’s go in.”

44. Ring

“Just let the…God… damn… phone… ring,” Dee panted, as Ryo nodded and pulled Dee down by his ears to put his mouth to better uses.

45. Settle

“Wait a minute,” Dee muttered as Drake went pale, “JJ hasn’t tried to suck my tongue down his throat all week… something must be going on…”

46. Energy

“I can’t… believe… we… five… times…” Dee gasped, “oh… my… holy… fucking… God… Ryo… mmm…” and fell asleep.

47. Center

Berkley Rose sometimes mused that New York often felt like the center of the world, and the 27th often felt like the center of New York… and as the central figure of power in the 27thwell!

48. Ordinary

Lai and Lass might have been extraordinary in their powers, but in their love for each other, they were just the same as everyone else.

49. Voice

Dee’s voice was unique- commanding and enticing, strong with just the faintest hint of a Brooklyn accent- and Ryo found himself increasingly drawn to its timbre.

50. Hang

“Well,” Ted mumbled to his fellow CI division as Chief sent them yet another deadly glance after beckoning them to his office for a chew-out session, “the question is simple enough… will we hang together… or hang apart?”
