His hair tousled gently by the breeze, Konzen walked along the path beyond the palace strewn with sakura petals. He’d recently left a meeting with Kanzeon, which meant that he was sufficiently annoyed to either take it out on someone, possibly physically, or unload his burden upon a sympathetic ear. The latter choice wasn’t open to him, having just left Tenpou’s rooms and not finding the god there. So Konzen had decided to clear his head by walking in the warm afternoon air instead. He frowned, folding his arms as he traveled with no destination in particular. Tenpou had been rather scarce of late, and Konzen didn’t want to put much stock in the rumors that were being spread around about the company that he’d been keeping lately. The whisperings did grate on him, though he’d never admit it.
Turning a corner, the blonde paused as he caught sight of two figures a distance away under one of the sakura trees. One of them was Tenpou, who he saw motioning with a hand that held a cigarette as he spoke. Even from this distance, Konzen fancied that he could see the wisps of smoke carried away by the wind. Kenren was sitting beside him [could he get any closer?] with an arm draped loosely about Tenpou’s shoulders. He was leaning in conspiratorially, saying something in a low voice that earned a laugh from his companion. Konzen’s frown deepened, convincing himself that this was of no consequence to him even as he felt a strange tightness in his chest. He turned from the scene in a flutter of white, walking briskly back to his rooms.
The other gods were mindful to stay out of Konzen’s path as the scowling blonde made his way back to his office, noticing that his expression was darker than usual. Once there, he sank noisily into his chair, muttering about the disarray his desk was in after Goku’s apparent antics.
“I’m going to kill that little monkey one day,” Konzen grumbled to himself as he straightened out the mess of papers strewn across his desk. “He’s lucky that he’s not here. He’s probably off hiding somewhere.”
His hands paused, his mind drifting back to the scene under the sakura. Konzen couldn’t understand why Tenpou would waste his time on the rambunctious general. Everything that Konzen had heard about Kenren told him that the god was bad news. He seemed to have no respect for anything or anyone, only concerned with filling his cup with sake and his bed with whatever goddess caught his interest. Konzen’s frown deepened as he realized that this wasn’t entirely true. Kenren did seem to have respect for Tenpou, but this only added to Konzen’s unease. The general behaved far too familiarly toward the other god, and Tenpou didn’t seem to mind. Perhaps he even encouraged it.
Konzen bit his lip. Tenpou was known throughout heaven as much for his pretty face as he was for his sharp mind and eccentric ways. And he’d heard that Kenren’s tastes weren’t always limited to women. Sighing, Konzen tried to smooth out the piece of paper that he’d just crinkled in his fist. It wasn’t his business what Tenpou did. It just bothered him that he might be taking up with the likes of Kenren, that’s all. If Tenpou wasn’t concerned about his own reputation, why should he be?
There was a soft rapping at the door to his office before it creaked open, Tenpou’s head poking into the room. “May I come in?” he asked.
Konzen shrugged, placing a document in front of him to stamp. “Why not? You’re already here.”
Tenpou padded over to the desk, leaning against it slightly. “I was just curious why you left so suddenly before,” Tenpou began, green eyes trained on the seated god. “Surely you must have seen us.”
“I remembered that I had a lot of work that I still needed to do,” Konzen said, stamping another document without looking up. “I don’t have as much time for socializing as other people around here do.”
“I can’t stay in my library all the time,” Tenpou countered, watching Konzen stamp the stack of documents more quickly than usual, noticing that the marks were slightly askew. Konzen was usually obsessive about leaving perfect imprints.
There was a space of silence between the pair with the only sound in the room the shifting of papers and the dull sound of Konzen leaving a mark on each document, before the blonde broke it. “I’m surprised Kenren didn’t follow you up here. He’s usually on your heels like a sniffing dog.”
Tenpou cracked a smile. “He is? I hadn’t really noticed.” He watched Konzen shake his head as he sighed. “Does it bother you?”
Konzen shuffled the papers on his desk angrily, refusing to meet his friend’s eyes. “Why should it? What you do and who you spend your time with isn’t my business. Do as you please.”
Tenpou wore an expression of mild shock that faded as he began to understand. “I see.”
Upon hearing Tenpou’s tone of voice, Konzen lifted his head to regard him with annoyance. “And just what is that supposed to mean?”
A small smile gradually appeared on the other god’s face. “I’ve always known that you are capable of only a few emotions, but I didn’t realize that jealousy was one of them.”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” Konzen said angrily. “What would I be jealous of? Kenren? Don’t make me laugh.”
“That would be something new,” Tenpou answered as he moved to sit partially on the desk, one hand on its smooth surface, “you laughing at something. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so much as smile.”
Konzen narrowed his eyes at his friend. “The moment someone gives me something to smile about, I will.”
Tenpou’s faint smile turned sly. “So it’s always been as easy as that? Why didn’t I realize this before?”
Konzen made an annoyed sound as he dropped his gaze to the page in front of him. Soon, a shadow loomed over the page that the god was about to stamp. Startled, he looked up to see Tenpou’s face growing closer as he leaned across his desk. Konzen had enough time to gasp before soft lips were placed against his own. The kiss was tentative at first. When he made no protests, Tenpou deepened it, plunging past parted lips with his tongue, a hand cupping the back of Konzen’s head to pull him closer. The blonde made a surprised sound as he stiffened. After some coaxing, Konzen relaxed into the kiss, allowing Tenpou’s enthusiasm with a soft moan.
When Tenpou broke the kiss, Konzen sat back in his chair, his skin flushed, a hand rising to his mouth. “Why did you…?” he began to ask before trailing off.
“I would think that it would be obvious why, Konzen,” Tenpou answered, green eyes dancing as he slipped off of the desk to move behind it toward his friend. “But perhaps I should have done that some time ago, that and more.”
Konzen’s eyes widened as the other god pulled him up out of his chair to hoist him to sit on the desk. He gasped as Tenpou stepped between his thighs. “Tenpou…” Konzen started, suddenly nervous and excited all at once. He placed hands against the other god’s chest, unsure if he truly wanted to push him away.
When Tenpou leaned in again, Konzen did find himself pushing the god back slightly, turning his face away, his violet eyes darkening. “Is this all because he wasn’t in the mood today or something?” Konzen asked indignantly, for some reason not able to say the general’s name.
Tenpou gave him a patient smile. “It’s true, Kenren is rather tempting,” he began, at which Konzen turned to glare at him fiercely, “but he’s far too amiable for my tastes. I’m more for the surly, disagreeable type of lover.”
“Bastard,” Konzen found himself saying, although it lacked the anger he’d intended, “Is that supposed to be funny?”
“Apparently not funny enough to make you smile,” Tenpou replied, “but I think I know what can.”
The dark-haired god leaned in to kiss his friend again, the hands Konzen had placed against him soon moving to fist his shirt, pulling him closer. He chuckled into the kiss, his hand moving up from cupping the back of Konzen’s head to remove the band around his hair, freeing golden silk to cascade over his shoulders. Tenpou’s lips moved to the column of Konzen’s throat as the blonde tilted his head back to moan. The hand that was busying itself by fondling the blonde through his clothing had much to do with his vocalizations.
When Tenpou opened the fastening to his pants, trying to shift them down over his hips, Konzen found himself obliging, lifting slightly as pale fabric was slid down his thighs and off of his ankles. The desk felt cool against his skin as he sat, allowing Tenpou’s exploration of his bare flesh as he shivered. He watched Tenpou bend, taking in a ragged breath as he felt his erection sheathed by the warmth of his friend’s mouth. Konzen leaned back, bracing himself with his hands as his head rolled back onto his shoulders. He moaned, feeling Tenpou press his legs farther apart, feeling digits slick with some substance begin to probe him. Konzen had always wondered about such things, had even allowed himself to dream about them, but hadn’t imagined that he’d be doing them in reality with the subject of his guilty fantasies. Maybe this was some strange dream that he was having. Maybe he was actually sleeping at his desk, playing this all out in his mind. Even so, Konzen didn’t want to wake just yet.
Just as Konzen thought he would burst from Tenpou’s ministrations, the other god stopped, allowing his erection to slip wetly from his mouth. Konzen regarded his friend with more than a little annoyance at being left at the edge longing.
“Why did you stop?” he asked, unable to keep the neediness out of his voice.
“Because,” Tenpou answered as he slid his pants down to his ankles, “I wanted to give you a little something better than that.”
Konzen watched Tenpou spread a glistening substance on his ample length before stepping back between his legs. He encouraged Konzen to place arms about his neck as he leaned in to kiss him again. Feeling pressure against his entrance, Konzen groaned into the kiss, breaking it as he was filled by Tenpou’s length, his entrance stretching around the god’s girth. He shivered, clinging to his new lover as he buried his face in the crook of his neck. Tenpou held still, trying to contain himself as he hovered on the brink of orgasm at his friend’s tightness. Breathing deeply, the moment passed, allowing him to set up a gentle rhythm as Konzen moaned near his ear.
Not disconnecting from the warmth that he was buried within, Tenpou pushed aside the pages stacked on the desk, laying Konzen down upon the cool surface for a better angle of penetration. The shifted papers soon cascaded over the side of the desk as the piece of furniture rocked from the movement of the two gods on top of it.
Konzen watched the documents flutter to the floor as Tenpou guided his legs around his waist. “Y-You’d better help me clean up this mess later,” he panted as he gazed up at the other god.
“If you’re still able to talk,” Tenpou answered, “I’m not doing this as well as I should.” He began to thrust firmly into his friend, earning a groan as Konzen arched against the desk, his hair spilling over the back of it.
Konzen could hear the ragged breathing of his friend as he pushed inside of him blending with his own soft moans. He could feel the warmth of Tenpou’s hand on his thigh. He stiffened as Tenpou’s other hand circled his length, stroking in time with his increasingly erratic movements.
Stiffening, Konzen fisted the fabric of Tenpou’s coat. He shivered, spilling warmly over the other god’s hand and onto his own belly. He melted against the desk as Tenpou thrust into him raggedly a few more times before emptying himself deep within.
Tenpou braced himself against the desk, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. He looked down to see the faint satisfied smile that graced Konzen’s face as he gazed up at him. “It suits you, you know,” Tenpou remarked as he reached down to stroke his cheek. Tired violet eyes could only sparkle up at him.
